With a few hours now to rest, recover and reflect about the exciting happenings of the first round of the NFL Draft, it is now time to look ahead to what we can expect over the next two days as dynasty fantasy footballers.
The Chiefs found a new starting running back, sending shockwaves through the dynasty landscape, while a half-dozen teams improved their receiver corps. There are others left with holes to fill at the four key fantasy football positions. Fortunately for them, there is plenty of talent remaining on the board.
With the beginning of the second round just a few hours away, here is a look at some teams who still have specific needs at the wide receiver and tight end positions, along with some rookies who could fill those openings.
Wide Receiver
Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens hit on first rounder Marquise Brown last year but still had to roll out Seth Roberts and Willie Snead all year. Baltimore needs to get another weapon for Lamar Jackson and they have four picks in day two to make it happen.
Carolina Panthers
Wide receiver didn’t look like a priority for the Panthers. After all, they have the young duo of DJ Moore and Curtis Samuel and just signed Robby Anderson away from the Jets. Now, rumors have Samuel on the trade block, which could leave Carolina adding another young receiver.
Chicago Bears
The Bears have plenty of needs, but receiver is near the top of the list. Chicago lost veteran Taylor Gabriel and have no depth behind starters Allen Robinson and Anthony Miller. A speedy deep threat would be a nice addition to the veterans.
Detroit Lions
The Lions have found their alpha receiver in Kenny Golladay and underrated veteran Marvin Jones is still hanging around the roster. However, this team needs an injection of youth even after retaining Danny Amendola and signing Geronimo Allison.
Green Bay Packers
According to nearly every mock draft, the Packers were expected to use their first-round pick on a new receiver for Aaron Rodgers. Instead, they drafted his future replacement. Entering day two, Davante Adams still needs a running mate in the worst way.
Indianapolis Colts
The Colts used a day two pick on receiver Parris Campbell a year ago but got almost nothing for their investment. Expect them to go back to the well with veteran TY Hilton starting to slow down. With Philip Rivers on an expensive one-year deal, expect the Colts to attempt to compete this year.
Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars got a breakout season from DJ Chark in 2019 but at the same time, Dede Westbrook took a frustrating step backward. The WR2 role on this team is wide open for a rookie to claim and the potential departure of Leonard Fournette makes it an even more attractive landing spot.
Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders took the first receiver drafted in speed freak Henry Ruggs, but they could use another wideout, especially a big target for Derek Carr. Las Vegas doesn’t have a second-round pick but does have a trio of third rounders.
New England Patriots
The Patriots did recently sign veteran Marqise Lee and traded for Mohamed Sanu at last year’s trade deadline. Those moves aren’t going to get it done, especially with a new quarterback under center. Even with Julian Edelman and N’Keal Harry expected to start, this is a position New England should continue to upgrade.
New York Jets
Most mock drafts pegged the Jets to use their first-round pick on either Jerry Jeudy or CeeDee Lamb. Instead, they went with the offensive lineman and receiver remains a need. After losing Robby Anderson, the Jets signed Breshad Perriman, but after one strong season as Tampa’s WR3, he can’t be trusted as a top target.
Tennessee Titans
The Titans found their new WR1 last year in AJ Brown but have little behind him unless you are banking on a fourth-year breakout from Corey Davis. The Titans should continue to focus on Derrick Henry and the running game but need more bodies on the receiver depth chart.
Washington Redskins
The Redskins top three receivers were all rookies a year ago and while Steven Sims and Kelvin Harmon showed some flashes, Washington needs a talent upgrade to pair with Terry McLaurin.

Tight End
Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals have a pair of veteran tight ends in Charles Clay and Maxx Williams. They also rarely use the tight end and have a crowded receiver depth chart. It may look like Arizona has a need at the position, but it also wouldn’t be surprising if they roll with their current options.
Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals parted ways with longtime starter Tyler Eifert, leaving them with CJ Uzomah and last year’s second-rounder Drew Sample. With so many needs and an above-average receiver corps, this is another team that might just ignore the position despite the perceived need.
Green Bay Packers
The Packers are amongst the most popular choices to select a tight end on day two of the NFL Draft after giving up on veteran Jimmy Graham following last season. They do still have Jace Sternberger and should give him a shot to earn the job, but this team has some win-now pressure, so could look for immediate playmakers. There may not be any of those in this rookie tight end class.
New England Patriots
The Patriots recently traded the un-retired Rob Gronkoswski and still have a huge hole at the position. It is unclear who will quarterback this team or if the offense will even resemble what we’ve grown accustomed to with Tom Brady under center.
Washington Redskins
The Redskins lost veteran tight ends Jordan Reed and Vernon Davis following last season and now have a hole to fill. Washington does have athletic tight ends Jeremy Sprinkle and Logan Thomas, but neither has proven to be a consistent contributor.Â
