The Top Five Dynasty Assets on the Buffalo Bills

Johnny Kinsley

In 2020 the Buffalo Bills have taken the leap from a fringe playoff team to a legitimate Super Bowl contender, often considered by many to have one of – if not the most – complete teams in all of football. From the development of MVP candidate Josh Allen, to the arrival of Stefon Diggs, or the improved coaching of offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, the city of Buffalo has inherited a team rich in talent and in quality coaching.

As such, the team is somewhat of a goldmine for dynasty owners, with numerous options on both sides of the ball for dynasty hungry players. As the season comes to a close, the goal of dynasty is to go after assets you can trust for a long time as opposed to a traditional year in normal fantasy leagues. That’s what makes dynasty football so unique, and also what makes the Bills an attractive dynasty farm so to speak.

So, which Bills players can you trust to become long-term dynasty assets? Which players have the talent to put up massive production, and which are of the age where their best years are right in front of them? Let’s take a look for ourselves; This is a list of five top dynasty assets who just happen to play for the Buffalo Bills.

Josh Allen, QB (24)

To the surprise of no one, Allen is on this list. Getting selected to his first Pro Bowl appearance was no easy feat, as Allen’s impressive play includes improved accuracy, decision-making, and poise in and out of the pocket. Passing for over 4,000 yards and 30 touchdowns up to this point, he’s combined aggressive decision-making with a more balanced approach, minimizing the brutal mistakes in comparison to his first two seasons in the league.

Like many mobile quarterbacks, what makes Allen so damn appealing as a dynasty quarterback is his ability on the run. With over 380 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, he’s as much of a threat on the ground as he is in the air. The supporting cast around him provides a decent foundation as well, as Diggs provides arguably a top five receiver paired with complementary pieces such as John Brown and Cole Beasley.

This has allowed Allen to rack up monster numbers in his third season in the league. At full health and with his dual-threat ability intact, Allen is an easy buy for any newcomer to the dynasty world, one that will excite on tape and on the stat sheet.

Stefon Diggs, WR (27)

Having the best season of his career, Diggs is at last in an offense that’s given him more volume. He’s always been a gifted wideout, but with over 110 catches and 1,300 receiving yards he’s, at last, getting the respect he’s long deserved.

Many have called Diggs the best route runner in the NFL, and they’ll get no argument here. Against man and press coverage he’s a danger to all, with jerky, sudden movements where his lower body contorts and he leaves the broken ankles of the defender he just dusted in the dirt. He’s a threat at the short, intermediate, and vertical levels of the field, has a great catch radius with strong hands, and is an insane athlete after the catch.

In 2021 he will be only 28 years old, with plenty of time left to be a massive contributor to any dynasty team. He’s set to stay in Buffalo for a while along with Allen (who’s expected to have a big payday), so like his quarterback, he’s virtually a must-have in dynasty.

Tre’Davious White, CB (25)

After a slow start to the season, star corner White – coming off a contract extension in the off-season – has returned to form, further establishing himself as one of the league’s premier corners and a playmaking threat as well as a cautious, decisive one. In January he will turn 26, just beginning the prime of his life and further developing as a shutdown corner in the game of football.

White was a very easy extension after the 2019 season, and his speed and concentration are part of what makes him so valuable to Buffalo’s defense. He’s inside the top 45 for dynasty points among all defensive backs, but with a stronger start in 2021, he should be expected to come back where he left off after his 2018 Defensive Player of the Year campaign. The interceptions have been fewer and further in between, but this is still a blockbuster player you’ll need to track down in IDP leagues.

Matt Milano, LB (26)

Injuries caused him to miss almost half of the season, but Milano is a stud linebacker and the glue that holds the Bills defense together. He’s just barely inside the top 100 for dynasty points among linebackers via FantasyData, but with his consistency and track record, it would be very difficult to pass over him once he’s fully healthy. I expect Buffalo to offer him an extension in the off-season, as he is in a contract year. Regardless, purchasing Milano in IDP leagues would be a very wise move.

Jordan Poyer, S (29)

Few defensive backs are enjoying the dynasty success Poyer has had in 2020. With the twilight of 2020 in the rearview mirror, Poyer has the most fantasy points of any defensive back this season. His large amount of solo tackles (over 80) and several sacks, tackles for loss, quarterback hits, and a couple of interceptions have translated into a successful dynasty year, and he’s an integral part of that talented Bills secondary.

Regardless if you pick up one or all of White, Milano, or Poyer, any of the three should be proven valuable to you and your dynasty team. Poyer will turn 30 next season, still with enough juice in the tank to contribute a good amount to your dynasty squad. These three are extremely consistent pieces of the Bills defense, and the combination of Allen and Diggs further cements how many intriguing dynasty components this Buffalo team has up its sleeves.
