NFC IDP Snap Counts: Week 15

Tom Kislingbury

This is it. Your fantasy league will be finishing up either this week or next week.

If you’re still in it and fighting for the titles: congratulations. If you’re just reading to plan ahead for next year: respect.

READ: AFC IDP Snap Counts: Week 15

Arizona Cardinals – 83 snaps

Lineman Zach Allen had a sack this week, which was surprising. He played 74 snaps. He had not seen 50+ since week four.

The moment so many of you have been waiting for may have happened. Isaiah Simmons played 63 snaps (45 was his previous highest) with De’Vondre Campbell (35) as the third LB. Campbell does not appear to have been hurt.

Standard reminder – he’s just an LB and likely to not be a superstar IDP. Sell based on hype if you can, and if you can recoup the inflated capital you gave up for him.

Atlanta Falcons – 68 snaps

Corner Darqueze Dennard missed this game, with Kendall Sheffield (64) playing instead.

That’s what passes for news around here.

Carolina Panthers – 62 snaps

DE Yetur Gross-Matos played 52 snaps this week, the most he’s seen as a pro. This is happening around the league. It’s been a rough year for rookies but they’re getting up to speed and the teams have little left to lose, so they’re going in for better or worse.

Chicago Bears – 68 snaps

Rookie corner Jaylon Johnson (47) missed the first game of his pro career. Duke Shelley (66) was his replacement.

Dallas Cowboys – 84 snaps

This was a LOT of snaps. Which (as always) results in amplified productivity.

Cornerback improved immeasurably in this game for Dallas. Chidobe Awuzie (80) returned after a week out. Trevon Diggs and Anthony Brown (both 43) had both missed significant time too. These are the same players who were getting torched early in the season, but they’re still upgrades.

LB Leighton Vander Esch (32) injured his ankle. He does seem to be susceptible to getting hurt. Sean Lee (27) and Joe Thomas (18) picked up the slack for him.

Safety Xavier Woods also picked up an injury. Darian Thompson (53) helped cover for him. Donovan Wilson (83) returned after two games out to play every snap.

Detroit Lions – 68 snaps

New management is in place but the Lions defense remains similar.

Corner Darryl Roberts did not play which opened an opportunity for Alexander Myres (28) to get out there.

Safety Tracy Walker (15) continues to be an afterthought. He’s an object lesson in why you don’t spend significant capital on safeties who do not have a reliable box role.

Green Bay Packers – 69 snaps

For the last two games, Christian Kirksey (49) has played a relatively limited role. He’s sat out 42 snaps in that time. He’d played every snap of every game he’s been healthy for prior to this. One week was a curio. Two is a worry.

Krys Barnes (31) and Kamal Martin (22) are the beneficiaries.

Los Angeles Rams – 65 snaps

Well, losing to the Jets wasn’t ideal, was it?

There were no obvious changes or personnel adjustments – it was just a bad game. It happens all the time.

For the Rams’ sake, let’s hope they got it out of the way now and it doesn’t happen again in January.

Minnesota Vikings – 64 snaps

DE Ifeadi Odenigbo (26) suffered an ankle injury. Jalyn Holmes (44) and DJ Wonnum (43) picked up the slack. Neither impressed. The Vikings are desperate for Danielle Hunter to return.

New Orleans Saints – 98 snaps

Seriously. 98 snaps. That is vanishingly rare outside of overtime games.

Bear in mind that the players who racked up spectacular numbers are unlikely to do it again next week. This was 35 more snaps than the Saints had previously averaged this season.

LB Kwon Alexander played 88 snaps. In his past two games, he’s missed just ten snaps of the 167 total.

New York Giants – 64 snaps

James Bradberry missed his first game of the season. He’s been a stud this year. Safety Julian Love (61) covered at corner – his college position.

Fellow safety, rookie Xavier McKinney, managed 41 snaps this week. That was the most he’s played all season. He’ll likely be a starter next season.

Philadelphia Eagles – 68 snaps

Corner Darius Slay missed the game. Michael Jacquet (68) stepped in for him.

Safety Rodney McLeod also missed the game, opening the door for Marcus Epps (68). Rookie K’Von Wallace still saw just 23 snaps.

Seattle Seahawks – 80 snaps

This was the most snaps the Seahawks had faced since week seven.

Playing time, however, remained steady (albeit scaled up).

San Francisco 49ers – 58 snaps

Corner Jason Verrett missed the game. Forgotten man Ahkello Witherspoon (57) was the next man up with K’Waun Williams (37) also seeing his first serious action in months.

After lots of rumors, Fred Warner played all 58 snaps at LB next to Dre Greenlaw (57).

Free safety Jimmie Ward (29) was limited which meant Marcell Harris (26) saw added snaps.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers – 65 snaps

The Bucs were an elite defense earlier in the season. And here they got shredded in the first half by the Falcons.

It’s a funny old game.

Corner Jamel Dean (51) returned after two games out but Carlton Davis (40) seemed to pick up a knock, which meant Ross Cockrell (16) still saw some action too.

Washington Football Team – 57 snaps

This was the Football Team’s lowest snap count since week seven.

In that time, Chase Young has seen 389 snaps (56 per week) with Montez Sweat on 299 (43 per game). Sweat has been the better player, but that is a significant difference in playing time.

LB Cole Holcomb missed the game. Jon Bostic led the position with 57 snaps and then three other players had between 20-30 snaps. Yuk.

Free safety Deshazor Everett also missed out – so Jeremy Reaves (57) saw his first start.

Thanks for reading and good luck with waivers.
