AFC IDP Snap Counts: Week 11

Tom Kislingbury

There are only a few weeks left before the regular season ends in fantasy leagues. You need to be leaving no stone unturned in your quest to maximize your chances from here on in.

READ: NFC IDP Snap Counts: Week 11

Baltimore Ravens – 70 snaps

We saw strange LB usage this week. Patrick Queen played just 59 snaps after being a full-time player recently. Given how badly he was playing (and has been for a while), he was likely yanked – although the team have been quiet on it. It was all the more strange because against the traditional Titans, the Ravens were using an LB-heavy game plan.

Malik Harrison (35), LJ Fort (20), and Chris Board (20) all saw significant snaps. All told the Ravens deployed 134 cumulative LB snaps – the most they’ve managed this season. Before this game, the average was just 103.

Buffalo Bills

The Bills enjoyed their bye this week.

Cincinnati Bengals – 62 snaps

There’s a big shadow over the Bengals this week with their young QB injured.

In (slightly) better news, they got some corners back healthy again. Mackensie Alexander (52) and LeShaun Sims (62) have missed plenty of time. They’re not world-beaters, but they’re a lot better than Tony Browns and Jalen Davis.

Young DE Khalid Kareem played just eight snaps this week – but managed a sack. Carl Lawson also had one from his 38 snaps. Sam Hubbard led the way with 51 snaps and didn’t get near to a sack. This is pass rusher life.

Rookie LB Akeem Davis-Gaither played just one snap on defense. He has just 50 snaps in his past four games now (while playing special teams). Like many other rookies, he is just not NFL standard yet.

Cleveland Browns – 68 snaps

It was Olivier Vernon day. He played 55 snaps and managed three sacks. In his first five games this season, he produced 13 pressures and no sacks. In the last three games, he has 11 pressures and five sacks. He’s been playing steadily all the way along so hopefully you rostered him when his owner got impatient.

With Myles Garrett out, Vernon was clearly the top dog. Porter Gustin (46) and Adrian Clayborn (39) filled out the unit with journeyman Cameron Malveaux playing eight snaps.

Safety Ronnie Harrison (6) was hurt early. Karl Joseph played just 18 snaps and Sheldrick Redwine saw 47. Redwine was awful, so that was weird. Maybe Joseph also picked up a knock quietly. Andrew Sendejo (68) remains the most reliable option here but really you can probably do better.

Denver Broncos – 65 snaps

Yet again there were no major changes to the Broncos defense this week.

Justin Simmons and Kareem Jackson (both 65) play every snap in their left/right safety scheme. Alijah Holder played 12 snaps out of nowhere for them.

Alexander Johnson (63) and Josey Jewell (58) do about the same in their predominantly left/right LB scheme.

Malik Reed (55) and Bradley Chubb (50) mostly play left and right edge. With Jeremiah Attaochu (20) providing backup.

Given how established this defensive core is, you’d think they’d be a much better defense than they are.

Houston Texans – 69 snaps

The Texans managed to beat the Patriots, but no one really came out of this game looking good.

LB Zach Cunningham (44) played a restricted amount next to Tyrell Adams (69) – the reason being the Texans gave the Patriots a taste of their own medicine by using a third safety (AJ Moore) on 25 snaps. It was interesting that Cunningham was sacrificed rather than Adams for those snaps.

A few Texans returned from absence. Interior lineman Charles Omenihu (36) created some pressure. Edge rusher Jake Martin (35) did not.

Indianapolis Colts – 60 snaps

Darius Leonard played every single snap of this game with Anthony Walker (25) and Bobby Okereke (39) lagging behind. Leonard did not have his finest game though and he allowed seven catches.

Lineman Denico Autry missed the game which led to Tyquan Lewis (49) playing by far his highest snap count of the season.

Speed rusher Justin Houston (39) managed his first sack in a while. He must have been worried about Kemoko Turay (10) being healthy again. Turay created two pressures from just eight pass rushes. Turay is a limited-snap player – but he is a classy pass rusher. He’s a must-add in best-ball leagues.

Jacksonville Jaguars – 75 snaps

Corners CJ Henderson and Sidney Jones both missed this game, which meant that Chris Claybrooks (56) and DJ Hayden both played. Claybrooks is an emergency play and Hayden had been out since week four, and it showed. Along with Tre Herndon (74), the trio gave up 14 catches from 20 targets.

The edge situation is too depressing to go into. They’re pretty much all terrible. Even Josh Allen (37) hasn’t played well for weeks. He has one sack since week three. K’Lavon Chaisson (46) is the poster child for this year’s rookie class playing so poorly.

Safety has been a mess all season long for the Jags. Jarrod Wilson (68) led the way with Andrew Wingard (41), Daniel Thomas (41), and Brandon Watson (11) all seeing action too.

Kansas City Chiefs – 59 snaps

DE Tanoh Kpassagnon (28) started the season playing a lot. He averaged 60 snaps per game over the first month. However, he fluffed his chance, and it seems like he’s had his opportunity cut back. Journeymen Alex Okafor (22) and Michael Danna (13) filled out the position opposite Frank Clark (54).

Rookie LB Willie Gay (31) played a decent amount – but he’s still nowhere near startable, with Anthony Hitchens and Damien Wilson (both 48) dominating early-down snaps.

At safety, Juan Thornhill (11) seems to have also been relegated to a sometimes player. Over the past five games, Daniel Sorensen (59) has out-snapped him by 67 snaps (equivalent to a full game).

Las Vegas Raiders – 78 snaps

A lot of Raiders had productive days. 78 snaps will do that for you.

Slot DB LaMarcus Joyner missed this game on the COVID contact list. Rookie Damon Arnette (71) played his heaviest game as a pro. He was targeted a huge 11 times and gave up nine catches.

DE Clelin Ferrell is also out – he had a positive COVID test. Carl Nassib stepped up to play 60. He’s just a guy.

LB Cory Littleton missed his second consecutive game, leaving Nicholas Morrow (78) to play alongside Nick Kwiatkoski (76).

Los Angeles Chargers – 60 snaps

LB Kyzir White missed this game so Denzel Perryman (56) led the way with Kenneth Murray (46) playing around three-quarters of snaps. Over the last three games, Murray has played 124 of 167 snaps. That puts him 38th among LBs over that period. He was 35th in this week.

Star DE Joey Bosa (54) returned from his concussion. He looked as good as he always does as a pass rusher. Melvin Ingram (55) played opposite him with Uchenna Nwosu (8) and Isaac Rochell (7) filling in. Ingram has managed 28 pressures this season – without a single sack. Impressive futility.

Miami Dolphins – 65 snaps

LB Jerome Baker played just 20 snaps. There’s no word of an injury so it seems he may be yet another LB who has finally exhausted his coaches’ patience. Elandon Roberts (50) handily out-snapped Baker after starting the game. If you can get a good price for selling Baker, you should seriously consider it.

Rookie corner Noah Igbinoghene (2) was selected in the first round. He’s playing special teams right now but has seen just these two snaps in the past three games on defense. Since Byron Jones returned Ighbinoghene has played 32 defensive snaps in six games. He has been horrific.

New England Patriots – 58 snaps

Speaking of horrific… This Patriots defense is pretty bad. Compared to 2019, it’s just embarrassing.

Star corner Stephon Gilmore (53) did return after three games out, which should help.

LB Ja’Whaun Bentley (44) also returned after a couple of games out. Terez Hall dropped to just 17 snaps. Rookies Josh Uche (22) and Anfernee Jennings (6) continue to see very limited action.

Edge Chase Winovich (53) might be the Patriots’ best defender. And he’s not that good.

Kyle Dugger (46) has played 112 snaps in his past two games after 117 snaps in his first six games. Unsurprisingly he’s started producing IDP stats at the same time.

New York Jets – 83 snaps

The Jets have averaged 71 defensive snaps per game. Only the Seahawks have more. Unsurprisingly, many Jets had high-tackle weeks this week.

Corner was all-change this week. Pierre Desir was cut. Bless Austin and Brian Poole were out. Lamar Jackson (no not that one) and Bryce Hall both played 81 snaps, Arthur Maulet 70.

Interior lineman Quinnen Williams (54) returned with a sack after missing the last game. He’s really improved a lot since his rookie season.

LB Patrick Onwuasor made his debut as a Jet. He played eight snaps on special teams. He did not see the field on defense. Harvey Langi (76) and Neville Hewitt (82) continue to own the LB jobs.

Pittsburgh Steelers – 58 snaps

LB Avery Williamson played eight snaps this week. That makes 19 for him in the two games since he was traded to Pittsburgh – still more fun than being a Jet.

Vince Williams (47) and Robert Spillane (49) continue to hold down the LB jobs.

Corner Mike Hilton (21) returned after missing four games through injury. He was an IDP stud early in the season – but a lot of that came from his blitzing. He should not be counted on as a stud.

Tennessee Titans – 65 snaps

Edge Jadeveon Clowney missed this game as he’s on IR. Derick Roberson (52) is his direct replacement and a decent short-term option if you’re desperate for help.

Star LB Jayon Brown (32) suffered an injury and missed half the game. Vet Will Compton (33) stepped in for him.

Safety Kenny Vaccaro also missed this game. Amani Hooker (64) finally got a chance to play. This game represents about 10% of his career regular-season snaps.

Good luck everyone!
