Fantasy Stat Pack: Week Ten

Ryan McDowell

If you follow me on Twitter, you’ve probably noticed a series of tweets I share on a weekly basis regarding player and team defensive performances, all from a fantasy lens. I’m going to be sharing some of that same information with you here.

I use this each week as I am making my own lineup and waiver wire decisions and thought you might find this valuable as well.

Note: The scoring system used for this data is always PPR with four points for passing touchdowns.

All year to date fantasy ranks are based on total points.

Quarterbacks

Week Ten QB1s (top 12 scorers)

Rank Player
QB1 Tom Brady, TB
QB2 Kyler Murray, ARI
QB3 Ben Roethlisberger, PIT
QB4 Josh Allen, BUF
QB5 Aaron Rodgers, GB
QB6 Matthew Stafford, DET
QB7 Daniel Jones, NYG
QB8 Lamar Jackson, BAL
QB9 Justin Herbert, LAC
QB10 Teddy Bridgewater, CAR
QB11 Kirk Cousins, MIN
QB12 Cam Newton, NE

Veteran quarterback Tom Brady bounced back in a big way from the team’s disastrous showing against the Saints, racking up his first overall QB1 game since the 2017 season. Kyler Murray and Josh Allen did not disappoint in their head-to-head matchup as both were top-four finishers on the week. Kirk Cousins came through against the Bears, just the second QB1 game Chicago has allowed this year.

Year to Date QB1s

Rank Player
QB1 Kyler Murray, ARI
QB2 Josh Allen, BUF
QB3 Patrick Mahomes, KC
QB4 Russell Wilson, SEA
QB5 Aaron Rodgers, GB

QB7 Deshaun Watson, HOU
QB8 Justin Herbert, LAC
QB9 Lamar Jackson, BAL
QB10 Teddy Bridgewater, CAR
QB11 Ryan Tannehill, TEN
QB12 Ben Roethlisberger, PIT

Kyler Murray continues to lead the quarterbacks and he is currently on pace to break the fantasy-scoring record of Lamar Jackson. Veteran Teddy Bridgewater continues to surprise in his first season in Carolina, though a knee injury will cost him week 11 and hurt his chance to finish as a top-12 scorer for the first time in his career.

A handful of teams own the worst record against quarterbacks, allowing six QB1 games through ten weeks. The Falcons, Bills, Jaguars, Eagles and Seahawks have all shown themselves as defenses to target when choosing a signal-caller for fantasy lineups. This week, the Falcons face the Saints and, presumably, Jameis Winston, expected to step in for the injured Drew Brees. Other quarterbacks to target based on these matchups are Ben Roethlisberger (vs. JAX), Baker Mayfield (vs. PHI) and Kyler Murray (vs. SEA.)

Other than Jake Luton, who faces the Steelers, there are also other quarterbacks who may need to find their way to fantasy benches, based on this week’s matchups. These include some huge names like Cam Newton, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and Deshaun Watson.

Running Backs

Week Ten RB1s (top 12 scorers)

Rank Player
RB1 Alvin Kamara, NO
RB2 Josh Jacobs, LV
RB3 Nyheim Hines, IND
RB4 D’Andre Swift, DET
RB5 Ronald Jones, TB
RB6 Rex Burkhead, NE
RB7 Antonio Gibson, WAS
RB8 Devontae Booker, LV
RB9 Malcolm Brown, LAR
RB10 Wayne Gallman, NYG
RB11 Nick Chubb, CLE
RB12 JD McKissic, WAS

It has been difficult to project the Colts backfield all season and pass-catching back Nyheim Hines got off to a fast start on Thursday, ultimately finishing as the RB3 for the week. A Sunday morning report suggested rookie D’Andre Swift would get the starting nod for the Lions and he took advantage with a breakout game. He’s emerged as the top-valued rookie back.

Year to Date RB1s

Rank Player
RB1 Alvin Kamara, NO
RB2 Dalvin Cook, MIN
RB3 James Robinson, JAX
RB4 Derrick Henry, TEN
RB5 Josh Jacobs, LV
RB6 Ezekiel Elliott, DAL
RB7 Aaron Jones, GB
RB8 Kareem Hunt, CLE
RB9 Ronald Jones, TB
RB10 Mike Davis, CAR
RB11 Todd Gurley, ATL
RB12 Antonio Gibson, WAS

While many dynasty players have been disappointed with the rookie running back class, a pair of surprising first-year players continue to play well. Both James Robinson and Antonio Gibson are currently top-12 scorers on the season. Mike Davis will get another start for the Panthers this week as well. He’s cooled down after his hot start but remains a top-12 scorer on the year.

The Broncos defense has fallen apart and given up a ton in the running game in recent weeks, ascending to the top of this list. This week, Denver faces the Dolphins and undrafted rookie Salvon Ahmed. Don’t be afraid to start the relative unknown in this primo matchup. The Lions, Packers and Texans have also struggled against opposing backs. While that is good news for Mike Davis, the Colts (vs. GB) and Patriots (vs. NE) backfields have been difficult to project from week to week.

The Saints have yet to allow an RB1 game and veteran Todd Gurley will test that this week as the Falcons return from their bye week. The Bears, Colts and Steelers have also been very tough against backs. That’s bad news for Aaron Jones and James Robinson.

Wide Receivers

Week Ten WR1s (top 12 scorers)

Rank Player
WR1 Cole Beasley, BUF
WR2 DeAndre Hopkins, HOU
WR3 Stefon Diggs, BUF
WR4 Marquez Valdes-Scantling, GB
WR5 Diontae Johnson, PIT
WR5 (tie) Marvin Jones, DET
WR7 Willie Snead, BAL
WR8 Juju Smith-Schuster, PIT
WR9 Tee Higgins, CIN
WR10 Justin Jefferson, MIN
WR11 Chase Claypool, PIT
WR12 Adam Thielen, MIN

The Steelers accomplish a rare feat last week as they produced a trio of top-12 scorers in JuJu Smith-Schuster, Diontae Johnson and Chase Claypool. It’s the second time this has happened this season but only the 13th time since 2000. Rookies Justin Jefferson and Tee Higgins stayed hot with WR1 games while the Bills-Cardinals contest produced the top-three wideouts of the week.

Year to Date WR1s

Rank Player
WR1 Stefon Diggs, BUF
WR2 Davante Adams, GB
WR3 Tyreek Hill, KC
WR4 DeAndre Hopkins, ARI
WR5 DK Metcalf, SEA
WR6 Tyler Lockett, SEA
WR7 Keenan Allen, LAC
WR8 Allen Robinson, CHI
WR9 Terry McLaurin, WAS
WR10 Adam Thielen, MIN
WR11 Calvin Ridley, ATL
WR12 Robby Anderson, CAR

Stefon Diggs has held onto the WR1 spot by the narrowest of margins. He leads Packers Davante Adams by around half of one fantasy point despite playing three more games. The Packers star is having a dominant season. A pair of Seahawks continue to hold down high-end WR1 ranks and hope to continue that against Arizona in week 11.

WR1 Games this Season

WR1 Games Players
6 DeAndre Hopkins

4 Adam Thielen, Calvin Ridley, Davante Adams, DK Metcalf, Keenan Allen, Terry McLaurin, Tyreek Hill

Seattle has been horrible against opposing wideouts. There is simply no other way to put it. Cardinals receiver DeAndre Hopkins is always an elite weekly option but that is enhanced ever more this week. It’s also a boost for Christian Kirk, who should be in fantasy lineups. While not nearly as bad as Seattle, the Vikings have allowed seven WR1 games and face the Cowboys this week, which could be what Amari Cooper and company need to bounce back from a frustrating few weeks.

Tight Ends

Week Ten TE1s (top 12 scorers)

Rank Player
TE1 Rob Gronkowski, TB
TE2 Mark Andrews, BAL
TE3 Hunter Henry, LAC
TE4 Cameron Brate, TB
TE5 Jordan Reed, SF
TE6 Logan Thomas, WAS
TE7 Pharaoh Brown, HOU
TE8 Richard Rodgers, PHI
TE9 Jonnu Smith, TEN
TE10 Tyler Higbee, LAR
TE11 Durham Smythe, MIA
TE12 Kyle Rudolph, MIN

As has become the case on a weekly basis, the TE1 list is a who’s who of WHO? Pharaoh Brown, Richard Rodgers and Durham Smythe are the latest surprise top-12 scorers. Cameron Brate and Kyle Rudolph also produced their first TE1 game of the year. On the positive side, Rob Gronkowski stayed hot with his fourth top-six performance in the past five games.

Year to Date TE1s

Rank Player
TE1 Travis Kelce, KC
TE2 Darren Waller, LV
TE3 TJ Hockenson, DET
TE4 Jonnu Smith, TEN
TE5 Mark Andrews, BAL
TE6 George Kittle, SF
TE7 Hayden Hurst, ATL
TE8 Jimmy Graham, CHI
TE9 Robert Tonyan, GB
TE10 Rob Gronkowski, TB
TE11 Hunter Henry, LAC
TE12 Evan Engram, NYG

It simply doesn’t take much to become a TE1 this year. Even Engram and Hunter Henry have been frustratingly average on a weekly basis but have played each game and that’s enough to sneak onto the list. George Kittle has missed a month’s worth of games and is still a top-six scorer for the season.

TE1 Games this Season

TE1 Games Players
8 Travis Kelce

6 Hayden Hurst, Jonnu Smith
5 Darren Waller, Rob Gronkowski, TJ Hockenson

4 CLE, DEN, DET, NYG, NYJ, TEN, WAS
3 BAL, HOU, IND, KC, LAR, NE
2 GB, JAX, LV, PIT, SEA
1 ARI, MIA, SF

No team stands out as horrendous against the tight end position, as is the case at most other spots. Six teams have allowed six TE1 games each. They are (with week 11 opponents): Atlanta (vs. Jared Cook), Buffalo (BYE), New Orleans (vs. Hayden Hurst), Philadelphia (vs. Austin Hooper), Tampa Bay (vs. Tyler Higbee/Gerald Everett) and the Chargers (vs. Chris Herndon.)

Some matchups to possibly avoid include Arizona (vs. Greg Olsen), Miami (vs. Noah Fant). San Francisco is on bye.

Finally, here is the chart summarizing how teams have fared against each position. I’ve also included the schedule for this week for reference.
