Devy Stock Market

Nathan Powell

The fantasy football stock market is constantly fluctuating and it is always important for us to stay on top of player stocks going up and downs.

In devy stock market, each week I cover the best and worst performances of the week and how they impact the value of these players in devy fantasy football leagues.

Big Weekend for the Tagovailoas – Taulia Tagovailoa, QB Maryland

Tua Tagovailoa started his first NFL game on Sunday and little brother Taulia had the biggest game of his college career on Friday night.

Taulia began his college career behind Tua at Alabama. After failing to secure that starting job after his brother left for the NFL, Taulia transferred to Maryland. Tagovailoa had an unimpressive debut with the Terrapins with 94 passing yards and three interceptions in a loss to Northwestern. But he rebounded in his second career start with 394 passing yards, 59 rushing yards and five total touchdowns.

Tagovailoa may have been taken in devy leagues based on name value alone, but he hasn’t provided much hope since then. This game provides a great selling opportunity for a player who is still very unlikely to become an NFL starter. If anyone sees this game as more than just a fluke, there needs to be an offer in their inbox.

Dyami Tsunami – Dyami Brown, WR North Carolina

Sam Howell was the talk of many in the devy community this past off-season, but Brown showed on Saturday why he should’ve been near the top of devy wide receiver talk like Howell was for quarterbacks. Brown has 18 catches for 345 receiving yards in his last two games, including three touchdowns against Virginia last week.

The junior wideout has maintained his big-play ability that we saw in 2019, averaging 20.3 yards per catch in 2019 and 18.3 yards per catch in 2020. There is a chance Brown stays in college to play another season with Howell, but if he enters the draft, he will likely be a top ten wide receiver selected

Nittany Lions Know Wide Receivers – Jahan Dotson

Allen Robinson, Chris Godwin, KJ Hamler, and Jahan Dotson? Dotson showed some promise in his sophomore season with 488 receiving yards 18.1 yards per catch and five touchdowns. In 2020, he has turned that promise into production in their first two games.

Against Ohio State, Dotson had 8 catches for 144 receiving yards and three touchdowns, totaling 238 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Dotson is likely not rostered in most devy leagues, but with continued production like he has had early in the season, he will be an early pick in rookie drafts in devy leagues.

Uiagalelei Up! Lawrence Down? – DJ Uiagalelei and Trevor Lawrence, QB Clemson

With Lawrence testing positive for COVID-19, Uiagalelei got his opportunity to start earlier than expected. Clemson had a shaky first half, trailing 28-13, but Uiagalelei showed why he was a top recruit with a big second half with 21 unanswered points. He completed 73.2% of his passes with 342 passing yards, 25 rushing yards and three total touchdowns.

Uiagalelei will be one of the top drafted devy players in new superflex devy leagues next off-season as Clemson continues to produce top quarterbacks. Now you may be thinking, there is no way that Trevor Lawrence is actually down, right? Well, I think there is, or at least should be.

The medical industry still knows very little about the future impact of COVID-19 on those who have had it and some people have seen complications after recovering. Even if Lawrence is very likely to fully recover, there is still the unknown for those who have had COVID-19 and recovered, so it is worth considering selling high on Lawrence.

Even after the COVID-19 announcement, dynasty players on Twitter were contemplating if Lawrence would enter the NFL as high as QB2 overall behind Patrick Mahomes. That seems like a volatile price for a prospect, especially a prospect who has had a virus that we are unsure of the future impacts of.

Zach Attack – Zach Wilson, QB BYU

The top tier of 2021 quarterbacks has been clear since early 2019 with Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields. The second tier has been growing in 2020. It started with Trey Lance in 2019 with 9.7 yards per attempt, 28 touchdowns and zero interceptions. It grew with the emergence of Mac Jones with his 13.7 AY/A, 26 total touchdowns and two interceptions. And now, we have another contender in the tier with BYU’s Wilson.

Wilson has played all three seasons for BYU. He had a 9.2 AY/A as a freshman, dipped to 6.9 AY/A as a sophomore, but he is now having one of the best seasons in all of college football with a 12.7 AY/A and 19 passing touchdowns in seven games.

Wilson has multiple passing touchdowns in each game this season and has scored at least four total touchdowns in five of seven games. He has been a prolific scorer in 2020 and has played his way into the first-round conversation in the 2021 NFL draft. It seems like we get at least one quarterback to slip through the normal (24-36 devy per year) superflex devy cracks per year, and this year, that quarterback is Zach Wilson.
