Dynasty Injury Report: Week Seven

Bruce Matson

We are almost halfway through the season. This season has been a roller coaster with injuries. Many dynasty teams are still trying to recover from week two. This fantasy season has been a war of attrition, to say the least.

Knowing the injury report can help you pinpoint who to snag off the waiver wire. It can also give you an educated guess of how long a player might be sidelined with their injury. Being able to act on the news is what’s important here.

Quarterback

Andy Dalton, DAL

Dalton took a hard hit to the head that immediately took him out of the game. He will now have to go through the league’s concussion protocol before can play again. His status is in jeopardy for week eight. If he can’t go, Ben DiNucci, the rookie from James Madison, will take his place.

Running Back

Phillip Lindsay, DEN

Lindsay was ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Chiefs with a concussion. He will need to go through concussion protocol before he’s allowed to see the field again. There’s a chance we won’t see him on the field for week eight.

Jeff Wilson Jr, SF

Wilson is headed to injured reserve with a high ankle sprain where he will at least miss the next three games. This leaves Jerick McKinnon and JaMycal Hasty as the team’s main running backs. McKinnon should already be on a lot of rosters, but Hasty could be lurking on the waiver wire in smaller leagues.

McKinnon has suffered his fair share of injuries in the past. There’s a chance Hasty could be the team’s lead back by the end of the season. He’s a cheap asset to trade for if you want to gamble on him seeing a massive increase in workload.

Chris Carson, SEA

Carson is dealing with a mid-foot sprain which he suffered in Sunday night’s game against the Arizona Cardinals. He is expected to miss some time, but he should be back sooner than later. It’s been a roller-coaster type of season for Carson. He has been productive while on the field. However, he has been dealing with injuries off and on throughout the season.

Since he’s projected to be back on the field within a few weeks, his dynasty stock shouldn’t take a drastic hit. The majority of his fantasy managers will ride out the lost weeks while looking forward to him hitting the field again once he’s healthy in the no so distant future.

Kenyan Drake, ARI

After suffering an ankle injury during the Cardinals’ loss to the Seahawks, Drake is expected to be out of the line up for at least a few weeks. Going into week seven, he only had one RB1 performance and two RB2 performances on the season. Despite his blow-up game in week six, the overall consensus feel is that he’s one of the biggest busts for 2020.

Chase Edmonds is expected to take over the lead back duties. There’s a chance he could hit RB1 status while Drake is on the shelf. Don’t be surprised if Eno Benjamin gets some run too.

Wide Receiver

Diontae Johnson, PIT

In a game where Johnson caught nine of his 15 targets for 80 yards and two touchdowns, he had to exit late in the fourth quarter with a leg injury. The injury isn’t deemed serious, but his status will be questionable throughout the week.

Injuries have been a big part of his season. A back injury kept him out of a few games. However, when he is on the field, it’s apparent that he’s one of Ben Roethlisberger’s favorite targets.

Odell Beckham, CLE

Beckham endured a season-ending ACL injury last week against the Bengals. Rashard Higgins and Donovan Peoples-Jones could potentially be replacements in his absence. Beckham is currently a buy-low in dynasty.

Russell Gage, ATL

Gage was in and out of last week’s game with a knee injury. He was limited in practice on Tuesday and his status is questionable going into Thursday night’s game. Fantasy managers will need to monitor his status these next couple of days.

Breshad Perriman, NYJ

After coming back from an ankle injury, Perriman is now dealing with a concussion that he suffered in last week’s game. He will go through concussion protocol with the hopes to be able to have his name etched in the starting line up for week eight.

Denzel Mims commanded a 32 percent target share in his debut with the Jets. If Perriman can’t suit up this week, expect Mims to continue to be an important piece to the Jets’ offensive game plan.

Dede Westbrook, JAC

After being carted off the field with a devasting knee injury, Westbrook will be placed on the injured reserve list. Laviska Shenault and DJ Chark are expected to be featured more in the passing game going forward. We shouldn’t be surprised if Keelan Cole also sees an increase in targets.

N’Keal Harry, NE

During Sunday’s game, Harry was ruled out with a head injury. He will be questionable for his week eight contest against the Buffalo Bills. With just one WR2 week on the year, Harry needs a strong finish to his 2020 season.

Deebo Samuel, SF

Samuel strained his hamstring in the second half of Sunday’s game. We are still waiting to see how serious the injury is since there haven’t been any reports released about the severity of the injury.

It’s been a rough year for Samuel. He has some good moments on the field, but the injury bug hasn’t stopped nipping at his heels.

Chris Godwin, TB

Godwin fractured his index finger in Sunday’s game against the Raiders. He will miss his Monday night contest against the New York Giants. The good news is he’s not expected to be out of the line up for a long period of time and is projected to be back on the field for week nine.
