Dynasty Waiver Wire: Week Eight

Mike Havens

I’d like to congratulate Addison Hayes on his marriage to his beautiful bride! He is enjoying this new chapter in life and is currently on his honeymoon. The waiver wire column is beautifully written by Addison and posted each and every Monday morning, so I will try my best to fill these large shoes for week eight.

Before we begin, I want to make you aware that DLF has a tremendously helpful tool to help you scour possible free agents by sorting players via customizable ownership percentage and season points. The Rostership App is a great weekly resource that can help you win your league. It’s easy to use and comes with your DLF subscription.

Below is a sample of what it looks like. I searched for all players with 90% ownership or less, who has scored over 35 points so far this season. This list can help me think of players to add in specific positions to help me fill my bye weeks.

Jarrett Stidham, QB NE

I think he’s worth grabbing if he’s available, even in one QB leagues. We don’t know what he’s capable of doing, but he has a great coaching staff behind him and there’s nothing to lose by rostering him if you need QB help. He’s a must-grab in two-QB leagues.

Eno Benjamin, RB ARI

Kenyan Drake has a serious enough knee injury to be carted off the field, and most owners already have Chase Edmonds rostered. Edmonds can’t carry the entire workload by himself, so we need to look at Eno Benjamin who was a seventh-round pick in the 2020 draft. If you are in need of RB help, you’re going to be hard-pressed to find much else this week.

Jeff Wilson, RB SF

The 49ers can start anybody at RB and they will be a stud. Enter Wilson, who ran for over 100 yards and had three touchdowns before leaving the game with an ankle sprain. There’s no timetable for his return, but he has been the second-best running back on that team. With Raheem Mostert out indefinitely, Wilson should be the next man up when he’s healthy again. Add Wilson if you need RB depth down the line.

JaMycal Hasty, RB SF

He’s been sharing the load for a couple of weeks now. I don’t expect him to take over the starting spot with Tevin Coleman returning, Jerick McKinnon sticking around, and Wilson eventually returning from injury. If you are desperate for quick RB help, it’ll be harder to find a better one on the waiver wire than Hasty.

Nelson Agholor, WR LV

Agholor has a touchdown in four of six games this season. As the trust level increases, so will the targets. I think he’s the most-underrated wide receiver in the league, as he’s widely available in all formats.

Jakobi Meyers, WR NE

The Patriots are low on targets and Myers is starting to emerge. He was a preseason superstar in 2019, and with the coaching staff starting to think that this may be a lost season, they may just use the rest of this season as a tryout for next year’s campaign.

Antonio Brown, WR TB

I think he’s more insurance than anything else. Tampa Bay is already loaded with pass catchers. Acquire him for the sole purpose of trading him to an owner of Chris Godwin or Mike Evans. If you happen to own Godwin or Evans, Brown is your handcuff.

Donovan Peoples-Jones, WR CLE

With Odell Beckham sidelined with what might be a major injury, other Browns wide receivers will need to step up in his absence. Enter Peoples-Jones, the former number one high school recruit who attended Michigan. This sixth-round pick grew under the tutelage of both Beckham and Jarvis Landry. He’s big and fast and built to last.

Jalen Guyton, WR LAC

Here are the snap count percentages from game two through game five for Guyton: 53%, 81%, 85%, 92%. As he’s gaining trust with the coaching staff and Justin Herbert, he is becoming a wide receiver worth targeting.

Richard Rodgers, TE PHI

Both primary Eagles’ tight ends are on IR, and Carson Wentz loves throwing underneath passes to his big guys. Rodgers has great size and will be utilized the way Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert both were. He is a startable asset for the next few weeks.

Cameron Brate, TE TB

Do you remember the last time Tom Brady has two decent targets on offense? I think Brate is getting better simply because Rob Gronkowski is coaching him up, and Brady is slowly going to take advantage as the year progresses. Sure, there are many targets on that team right now, but Brady loves to play the short game, and Brate is one of the few guys who will consistently run shorter routes.
