Dynasty Injury Report: Week Six

Bruce Matson

Injuries are a major part of fantasy football. They can completely change the trajectory of an entire season. All it takes is one or two players to go down with an injury to prevent a contending team from making the playoffs.

Knowing which players are injured and how long they will be out of commission is very important. The information allows you to make lineup decisions and helps with capitalizing on trades with your league-mates.

With that being said, let’s look at the injury report from week six.

RUNNING BACK

Mark Ingram, BAL

Ingram suffered a mid-to-high ankle sprain last week. The injury doesn’t appear to be serious and he shouldn’t miss an extended period of time. The Ravens have a week seven bye and are hopeful to have him back for week eight.

Most dynasty managers would like Ingram to take as long as possible to recover in order to see what JK Dobbins can do with a larger workload. This could be the moment that allows dynasty fanatics to get a good look at Dobbins in a Ravens uniform.

Ingram will never be a buy or sell. His dynasty value is floating in the abyss. If anything, he’s an asset you can acquire as a throw-in piece in a much larger trade if you need short-term production.

Miles Sanders, PHI

Sanders suffered a knee injury that will sideline him anywhere between one to two weeks. He will not be suiting up for Thursday’s game against the New York Giants. Unless there’s a setback we should see him on the field sooner than later. This injury should not affect his long-term player value in fantasy football.

Raheem Mostert, SF

Mostert has been diagnosed with a high left ankle sprain and is more than likely head for injured reserve. He will be out for at least three weeks while he heals from the injury. Since he missed weeks three and four with a sprained MCL this injury really sucks the wind right out of his sails. The injury-prone label might cast its ugly shadow this off-season once everyone looks back on his 2020 season.

With Mostert out of the fold, we are going to see more of Jerick McKinnon with JaMycal Hasty sprinkled in. Both backs will see a boost in workload in production. McKinnon was very impressive when Mostert was out earlier this season. Hasty is a rookie who could come on strong down the stretch.

Joe Mixon, CIN

Mixon is currently dealing with a foot issue that he suffered during Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts. The team is currently waiting for more information before they can declare Mixon’s long-term status for the season. The team should have more information going into Wednesday’s practice.

If he’s how for a long period of time we could see Giovani Bernard see more of the touches. We could also see a lot more of Trayveon Williams and Samaje Perine as well.

WIDE RECEIVER

DeVante Parker, MIA

Parker left Sunday’s game against the Jets with a groin injury. At that time, he had three catches for 35 yards. The Dolphins will be on their bye this week and will return to play the Rams in week eight. Dynasty managers will need to monitor his status to see if he will be able to return after the Dolphins’ bye.

Darius Slayton, NYG

Slayton was a game-time decision due to a foot injury. He further injured himself making an 18-yard catch against the Washington Redskins. Fantasy gamers will need to monitor his status for week seven. It does not appear to be a long-term issue, but it’s an injury that Slayton is trying to play through.

TIGHT END

Zach Ertz, PHI

Ertz will be missing three to four weeks with an ankle injury. Although he will be out of lineups for a while, fantasy managers might not miss him that much considering he caught just nine passes for 48 yards in his last three games.

Dallas Goedert has been activated off the injured reserve list and could play Thursday night against the Giants. Fantasy gamers will need to monitor his status to see if head coach Doug Pederson inserts him into the lineup.

Tyler Eifert, JAC

The veteran tight end suffered a neck injury last week. Since he has endured a lot of injuries throughout his career, I wouldn’t be surprised if the team takes their time and allows him more than enough time to heal from the injury before returning to the field. Don’t be surprised if we see James O’Shaugnessy in his place on Sunday.

Jonnu Smith, TEN

Smith was forced out of Sunday’s contest with an ankle sprain. The injury isn’t severe, and he is deemed questionable for this week’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He currently has two TE1 performances on the season. His schedule turn rather favorable with five matchups against defenses ranked in the bottom half of the league when it comes to giving up fantasy points to the tight end.
