2020 IDP Dynasty Predictions

Adam Tzikas

We asked our IDP writers to get their predictions in for the season. You can use this to maneuver around or towards these players in your leagues.

IDP MVP

Devin Bush, LB PIT

Bush was a bit overmatched as a rookie but has reportedly improved in coverage. Mark Barron is gone, and frankly there’s just no one else who’s going to replace him on the field. I don’t think he’ll finish as the LB1, but a top-five finish is well within the realm of possibility. He was the 12th linebacker off the board in a recent IDP-only redraft. – Jason King

Myles Garrett, DE CLE

Garrett is returning after his suspension looking to set the league on fire. I expect him to lead the league in sacks and be a dominant enforcer for the Browns. – Eric Olinger

Nick Bosa, DE SF

He was just phenomenal as a rookie and although I don’t see much more of a ceiling, just repeating last year could easily be enough to be MVP if things fall right for him. On a very good defense, he has every chance to lead the league in pressures – Tom Kislingbury

Danielle Hunter, DE MIN

Hunter may be slightly unknown in the world of football but with the addition of Yannick Ngakoue, a double-digit sack player gets a lot of help rushing the passer. With the last two seasons of nearly 15 sacks under his belt, Hunter will be a league-winner for owners in 2020. – Adam Tzikas

IDP BUST

Josh Allen, DE JAC

Allen at his price point, this season particularly, feels like a bust to me. I like him long term but I think the Jags will not be in favorable game scripts to accentuate Allen’s strengths. The team keeps losing pieces and teams will be able to focus on stopping Allen from sacking QBs. – Dwight Peebles

Fred Warner, LB SF

He’s not a bad player but Warner is being valued as an elite LB – and he’s just not that. Bust seems harsh because he should absolutely be startable, but the chances of him returning on his price seem low. – Tom Kislingbury

Isaiah Simmons, LB ARI

I think people are just a touch too optimistic on the fantasy outlook for Simmons. Sometimes a player who is “a movable chess piece” never truly finds a home. I’d rather have a player with a defined position. – Eric Olinger

Jordan Hicks, LB ARI

Hicks is coming off a career year (by a lot) with 148 total tackles, but he has a track record of missing multiple games with injuries. Arizona added two inside linebackers in the off-season to compete for tackles: rookie Isaiah Simmons and free agent De’Vondre Campbell. Looking at the LB1 list from 2019, Hicks is the prime candidate to see a decent drop in production. – Jason King

IDP Sleeper

Stephon Tuitt, DE PIT

Tuitt can be acquired for a song and is primed to have a big 2020. He was on pace for 60 tackles and 9.5 sacks before getting sidelined in 2019. He is still in his prime at 27 and will never see single linemen due to the swirling Pittsburgh pass rush. – Dwight Peebles

Adrian Phillips, S NE

Phillips was super useful at times as a Charger and suddenly finds himself on a Patriots team desperately needing box coverage ability and flexibility. He can easily be wildly more useful than his super-late ADP, especially with the injury to Derwin James. – Tom Kislingbury

Juston Burris, S CAR

This is a deep sleeper, but one that most have given little thought to since Carolina drafted Jeremy Chinn. New coach Matt Rhule has talked up Burris as a strong safety since the Panthers signed him this off-season, and Chinn is a candidate to spend time at strong-side linebacker. Either way I expect both to be on the field a lot, and Burris has DB2 upside with a free agent price tag. – Jason King

Drue Tranquill, LB LAC

Tranquil has the potential to match or outproduce rookie darling Isaiah Simmons at pennies on the dollar. He’s a young three-down linebacker with versatility and 100+ total tackle upside. – Eric Olinger

Dynasty Buy

Ronnie Harrison, S JAC

Harrison is a big buy for me but the window is closing quickly. He is another in a great spot going forward. A vicious hitter with superb instincts, he is going to be a DB1 this season and rake in the tackles. – Dwight Peebles

Taylor Rapp, S LAR

Rapp is a buy for me, he had a 4:1 box to deep safety ratio for snaps last year compared to John Johnson’s 50/50 split. I see Rapp as the box safety going forward with Johnson shifting to FS. – Drew Dodson

Trey Flowers, DE DET

Everyone thinks he was bad as a Lion. But that’s just because they didn’t understand what he was. He’s a rock-solid DE2. – Tom Kislingbury

Cole Holcomb, LB WAS

I’ve seen Holcomb cut recently in a fairly sharp league. If that’s an indication of his perceived value, go get him on the cheap. As I wrote about in the NFC East edition of the IDP Studs, Values and Sleepers series, Holcomb has the athleticism to play three downs. A somewhat crowded linebacker corps that includes AARP-eligible Thomas Davis, journeyman Jon Bostic and always-in-the-news-for-the-wrong-reasons Reuben Foster is temporary. – Jason King

Sam Hubbard, DE CIN

It’s ridiculous how much I love Hubbard. Him playing across from Carlos Dunlap reminds me of Danielle Hunter and Everson Griffen. 2020 is the year Hubbard takes on the alpha role. – Eric Olinger

Dynasty Sell

Leighton Vander Esch, LB DAL

I’m getting out on Vander Esch. Unsustainable efficiency his rookie year (wasn’t even that high of a finish in the grand scheme of things) and the neck injury are big turn-offs for a long-term investment. – Drew Dodson

Darius Leonard, LB IND

It sucks to say this because he’s the top LB on my board too, But he’s far, far and away the highest-valued LB in the sport. That value I just can’t pass up when people come calling me on my mobile. – Tom Kislingbury

Jerome Baker, LB MIA

Sure, Baker is young (23) and productive, but how confident are you in his ability to remain consistently productive on a Dolphins defense that is made to resemble the Patriots’ fantasy quagmire? He’ll likely hold value this year and maintain low-LB2 production, but I’m using the opportunity to move on. I just don’t like the situation long-term. – Jason King

Demarcus Lawrence, DE DAL

Dallas keeps bringing in knucklehead defensive linemen to add to their other knucklehead defensive linemen. I’m looking to sell high on him because I think we’ve seen his best football already. – Eric Olinger
