20/20: Kelvin Harmon
Welcome to the 20/20 series. As part of our continued Dynasty Scouts coverage and in preparation for the NFL Combine, we will be profiling 20 of the top incoming rookies of the class of 2019 by giving you 20 facts you must know.
1.) Player Name – Kelvin Harmon

7.) NFL Draft round projection – Considered to be in the top tier of wide receivers in the 2019 NFL draft class. Seen projected between round one and round two. In a draft class loaded with receiving talent, it is possible that a bad Combine could have Harmon slip outside of day one of the NFL draft.
8.) Current NFL comp – Big, strong wide receiver with subtle quickness that allows for smooth and easy separation. Harmon does well in contested catch situations using his size and technique to his advantage. To me, Harmon flashes some A.J. Green and Kenny Golladay. He continued to improve each of his seasons at NC State and there’s no reason not to see that continuing as he gets the next level.
9.) Best possible destination – The team that really comes to mind is the Colts. Paired with Andrew Luck, and able to play off T.Y. Hilton in an offense that took great strides in 2018, in addition to a healthy Luck back at the helm, I believe he’d fit seamlessly. If the Colts grab a receiver in round one, that player could easily jump up to the 1.01 of many rookie drafts. Harmon would be the strong big play outside wide receiver, paired with Hilton, and could work underneath and have the ability to grow with the offense.
The Packers and Browns could be great landing spots for a wide receiver as well. Green Bay spent a few picks on receivers in the 2018 draft but could still use another player opposite Davante Adams. Browns could add a receiver for Baker Mayfield if there is a run on offensive and defensive linemen.
Additionally, the Ravens could fit if they wanted to pair a young receiver with Lamar Jackson.
10.) Worst possible destination – Jaguars, paired with Blake Bortles in Jacksonville. This offense took big steps backward in 2018. Oakland, If Harmon slipped towards the latter half of round one. It’s possible that Jon Gruden looks for a receiver to add to his offense after dealing Amari Cooper.
11.) Best current skill – Hands. Rarely does Harmon double catch or body catch the football. Does well snapping the ball out of the air and squeezing the ball to secure the catch. Harmon is also very advanced in his ability to track the balls flight path and adjusts well to its trajectory.
12.) Skill that needs to be improved – Yard After Catch ability (nitpicking). While Harmon shows an alpha receiver mindset when attacking the ball in the air, I would like to see him do more after the catch. He is a large and physical receiver and this could be more connected to quarterback play and the offense he took part in at NC State. He can run over smaller defenders.
13.) Past/current rookie ADP – Harmon in the right offense and draft spot could jump up towards the 1.01 spot but likely projects towards the top quarter of most rookie drafts. Unless an unfortunate injury or landing spot befell Harmon, fantasy owners will have to spend high rookie draft capital on him. DLF’s own Travis May did a rookie draft poll on January 15th and Harmon went as pick 1.05.

14.) Projected dynasty value – Like most rookie wide receivers in the past few drafts you will likely need to spend a top 80 pick in startup drafts. Harmon likely will cost owners somewhere between round four/five to at worst round eight. Rookie fever hits hard and with a talent like Harmon, he will be costly in startups.
15.) Recruiting Profile – Harmon was recruited out of Palmyra New Jersey and was rated as a three-star receiver on 247sports and their 88th receiver overall. Coming out of Palmyra High School, Harmon was listed at 6’3” 190 lbs and had offers from 14 different schools.

17.) Birth – Harmon was born in the western African country of Liberia. He moved to America at the age of four.
18.) Pre Combine Training – Harmon has been hard at work training at the Mamba Sports Academy located in Thousand Oaks California as he prepares for the NFL Draft. The Mamba Sports Academy was set up by Kobe Bryant.
19.) Two Way High School athlete – Harmon lined up on both sides of the defense, playing safety, linebacker and even defensive end in high school.
