Devy Stock Market

Nathan Powell

The fantasy football stock market is constantly fluctuating and it is always important for us to know which players have a price in both redraft and dynasty, but I will be focusing on college players for devy dynasty leagues and how their week-to-week performances are affecting their price in those leagues.

Gophers Up, Lions Down – Tanner Morgan, QB Minnesota and Sean Clifford, QB Penn State

These quarterbacks were two of my favorite under-the-radar devy QBs this season and their performances against each other’s teams have their stocks going in opposite directions.

Morgan has one of the best wide receiver duos in college football with Tyler Johnson and Rashod Bateman and he has taken advantage with a great sophomore season. He is averaging 12.1 A/YA on the season and against his best opponent thus far this season, he completed 90% of his passes with 339 yards and three touchdowns. Many will credit Morgan’s success to his wide receivers and that will make him a great value in superflex devy leagues this off-season.

When Morgan had his best performance against his best opponent, Clifford had his worst game of the season against his in Minnesota. Prior to last week, Clifford was averaging 9.0 yards per attempt, but against Minnesota, he averaged only 7.9 yards per attempt to go with three interceptions. Accuracy has been an issue throughout the season for Clifford as he had his sixth game out of nine with a completion percentage below 60%. Clifford has a pair of games against ranked opponents in the next two weeks to give him the opportunity to rebound and get back into consideration for a superflex devy pick this off-season.

Small Size, Big Production – Chatarius ‘Tutu’ Atwell, WR Louisville

Chatarius Atwell is one of the smallest wide receivers in power five college football at 5’9” 153 pounds, but that hasn’t stopped him from being a producer in 2019. As a freshman, Atwell had 24 catches for 406 receiving yards with a 16.9 yards per catch. In 2019, Atwell has nearly doubled his catches and receiving yards with 46 catches for 806 receiving yards with eight receiving touchdowns.

Atwell has been one of the best players in college football the last two weeks with 12 catches for 264 receiving yards and two touchdowns against Miami and Virginia. Many will point to Atwell’s weight and question his NFL chances, which is a legitimate concern, but if he gains 10-20 pounds, he will have the potential to be a nice slot threat/scatback in the NFL. Even with the nice production this season, his size will likely prevent him from being taken outside of the deepest devy leagues, but I do think he is worth monitoring.

Rakeem The Dream – Rakeem Boyd, RB Arkansas

Last off-season, Boyd was one of my favorite under the radar players in devy fantasy football and he continues to be under the radar for most as he continues to excel in his sophomore season at Arkansas. As a freshman, Boyd had a good season in the SEC with 734 rushing yards and 6.0 yards per carry. Additionally, he had a role in the passing game with 23 catches for 165 receiving yards. In 2019, Boyd has continued to put up numbers and is becoming one of the best backs in the conference.

Boyd has 1,005 rushing yards, 6.7 yards per carry and eight rushing touchdowns. In the last two weeks, he has been running all over teams on limited touches with 299 rushing yards on only 19 total carries against Mississippi State and Western Kentucky. Boyd will be a target of mine this off-season in leagues where I don’t have him. I think he belongs in the top 30 devy players.

Double Down on Dyami – Dyami Brown, WR North Carolina

Brown has been one of the best deep threats in college football this season. The 6’1” 195-pound wide receiver has 21.2 yards per catch and only one player with a higher yards per catch has more receiving yards than his 679. Brown had his breakout performance two weeks ago against Virginia with six catches for 202 receiving yards and three trips to the end zone. He has accounted for 27% of the Tar Heels passing yards and is likely to see an expanded role in the offense after his breakout performance. With continued big playmaking for the remainder of the season, Brown will be a late round devy target this off-season.
