2019 NFL Draft Video Profile: Deebo Samuel

Andy Singleton

Editor’s note: Welcome to the 2019 NFL Draft Video Profile series. Created by Andy Singleton and John Laub, these videos profile the best of the incoming 2019 NFL Rookie class. These videos will provide yet another terrific way to analyze the newest group of NFL rookies.

Much like the running backs in this year’s 2019 NFL Draft class, the wide receivers offer a plethora of varying opinions. I challenge you to find any two rankings that share the same top five. And I don’t even mean exactly in order; I mean any combination of the same five players. This can be seen as a deep class for that reason, or a shallow one for exactly the same logic. What we can be sure of, however, is that somewhere in the range of 32 players will be drafted at the position. So, how are we ranking them?!

In our world of metrics and breakout ages, and wanting the perfect specimen of what a comic book version of a player would look like, we can overthink and overlook the obvious. Deebo Samuel of South Carolina may just be the perfect example of this in the current crop of pass catchers. We took a deeper look into why he’s someone you should be paying more attention to.
