Dynasty Waiver Wire: Week 2
Welcome to our in-season coverage of waiver wire considerations for this week.
We won’t be forcing waiver wire advice or suggestions. Instead, expect to see a wide-ranging number of players each week, based solely on increasing snaps, injury or any combination of events that suggest a player’s status could change in the future. You can expect we will be providing a bit of justification for the addition as well as just how deep the particular player is. We are only highlighting those players that we believe deserve some level of attention, not merely players who happen to see targets or log a carry. As is always the case in fantasy, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Whether you are a multiple-year winner or in a constant state of rebuilding, the waiver wire is, arguably, your largest source of talent from which you will build your future dynasty. Being first to act and last to react, year over year, will play a huge role in the building and shaping of your team(s). It takes a lot of commitment to stay that engaged, but it’s an activity that will pay dividends every year.

Not many suggestions this week and we always advise prudence before making any transaction. Not every player who sees targets or production makes for an immediate addition. We look not only for a material increase in productive stats but also the upside on the depth chart which suggests more opportunity in the near future.
Corey Grant, RB JAX
The 26 year old Grant doesn’t project as a high-end dynasty asset for anything other than an emergency fill-in, but for competitive teams and with Leonard Fournette on the shelf, he could provide much needed production in PPR leagues (six receptions, 56 yards). Fournette projects to return in week three but if you have an open roster spot, you could do worse. Keep an eye on Fournette’s injury status in week three.
Tyler Boyd, WR CIN
Boyd represents the type of player we don’t usually highlight as he has flirted with dynasty rosters this year, but since the start of the season, he has been seen often on the waiver wire. That will change after week two’s performance when Boyd produced six receptions, 91 yards and a touchdown against the Ravens. Just as an item of note, he also produced nearly the same line in the last game of 2017 so he’s capable, just not consistent. But starting across from A.J. Green, perhaps 2018 is the year for him to solidify a role. Tyler Boyd has all the makings of a dynasty roster clogger but he should be rostered in deeper leagues.
Rashard Higgins, WR CLE
The surprising news surrounding Josh Gordon opens up yet another spot on Cleveland’s receiver depth chart, lifting both Antonio Callaway and Rashard Higgins. Callaway looks like the starter across from Jarvis Landry but Higgins will continue to see a lot of snaps as the WR3. Higgins does have a bit of the “it” factor I like in receivers and he responded on Sunday vs. the Saints by producing five receptions for 47 yards on seven targets. Still only 23 years of age, Higgins has some developmental upside and should be rostered.
