Standard Dynasty Rankings: 41-50

This article is a continuation of our Standard Dynasty Rankings Series that takes us through our full top 100 rankings.

We’re through our first 40 players. What a wild ride it’s already been. I’m really excited about today’s group. This section is the most positionally-diverse we’ve had, as it’s the first time all four positions are represented.

If you’ve been reading along you know what that means: we’re finally getting a quarterback (three of them in fact). Along with the trio of QBs, we’ll have a pair of veteran wide receivers, and a young stud at tight end.

Who’s excited? Let’s get into 41-50 of our Standard Dynasty Rankings!

41) Derrick Henry, RB TEN | 2017 Finish: RB 25 | Age: 23

It’s only been two years, but it’s felt much longer to me. I’ve been eagerly waiting to see Derrick Henry in a starting role: just another reason I’m immensely excited for the 2018 season. Although he’s yet to crack 180 carries in a season, Henry has made the most of them as he has already found the end zone ten times in his career. While newcomer Dion Lewis should get a lot of snaps on passing downs, Henry will be this team’s goal-line back. Look for him to be among the league leaders in TDs over the next handful of years.

42) Nick Chubb, RB CLE | 2017 Finish: N/A | Age: 22

Nick Chubb is one of several rookies I can’t wait to watch. Sure, his touches might be a limited a bit at first. But when he does get the ball, special things will happen. Carlos Hyde and Duke Johnson are both good running backs. However, as I’ve said before, it’s only a matter of time before Chubb is leading the Browns’ rushing attack. With his talent and potential, this pick provides a fantastic mix of safety and upside at a premium position.

43) Evan Engram, TE NYG | 2017 Finish: TE 5 | Age: 23

Rookie tight ends aren’t supposed to put up top-five seasons. I guess Evan Engram was absent for that lecture. Going into year two, the 2017 first-rounder has already established him as one of the best receiving tight ends in football. The challenge for Engram will be to not get crowded out in an offense that now boasts both Odell Beckham Jr and Saquon Barkley. I don’t know about you, but I think he’ll be just fine.

44) Doug Baldwin, WR SEA | 2017 Finish: WR 13 | Age: 29

Doug Baldwin had his lowest yardage total since 2014 and still managed to be a high-end WR2. This man doesn’t know what a down year is. He just produces, and I don’t think that will change anytime soon. With Jimmy Graham gone, Baldwin is now the unquestioned primary target for Russell Wilson. Look for him to yet again be a top-15 receiver and find the end zone at an elite rate.

45) Mark Ingram, RB NO | 2017 Finish: RB 6 | Age: 28

I recently wrote an article explaining why I’m selling Mark Ingram. Fortunately, in standard scoring, he’s still gold. Ingram is on a short list of six backs who have posted two consecutive top-ten years (16-17). If he wasn’t going to be suspended for the first quarter of 2018, I think he’d do it once again. Ingram will obviously have to share the backfield with the budding star named Alvin Kamara going forward. But as long as he keeps finding the end zone (12 touchdowns in 2018), he’ll be among the best backs in fantasy.

46) Alshon Jeffery, WR PHI | 2017 Finish: WR 15 | Age: 28

Ready for a surprising stat? Alshon Jeffery hasn’t had a 1,000-yard season since 2014. In both 2015 and 2016, he probably would have gotten there if injuries hadn’t stopped him, but as for 2017, he has no excuses. In his second year as an Eagle, I’m really hoping Jeffery can rekindle the success he had in Chicago.

If you’re a potential Jeffrey owner looking for positives going into this season, look no further than the touchdown department. His nine end zone appearances were his most since 2014 and more than his previous two seasons combined. Jeffery has true top-ten potential if he can continue to dominate the red zone and finally get back to the 1,000-yard mark.

47) Carson Wentz, QB PHI | 2017 Finish: QB 5 | Age: 25

Before Carson Wentz tore his ACL in an early December game against Los Angeles, he was on pace for 4,050 yards and 40 touchdowns. Not so bad for the second year signal caller. We can’t expect those numbers every year, but with the surrounding pieces he has in this offense, he might not be far off. We’re extremely confident in him as a passer, but how much will the ACL injury affect his running game? That might just be the only concern I have.

48) Russell Wilson, QB SEA | 2017 Finish: QB1 | Age: 29

There’s really nothing not to like about Russell Wilson. Numbers, age, and injury history all check out well for the former Wisconsin Badger. Wilson tied his career high with 11 interceptions and had a career-low 61.3 completion percentage in 2017, but his league-best 34 touchdowns were enough for him to finish as the most productive quarterback in football. Claim that Russ is the dynasty QB1, and you’ll hear zero arguments from me. Wilson is an easy choice in the late forties.

49) Aaron Rodgers, QB GB | 2017 Finish: Injury | Age: 34

What’s left to say about Aaron Rodgers? On pure talent alone, he’s one of the best football players ever, and the stats prove it. Jordy Nelson is out and Jimmy Graham is in. Bottom line is, it doesn’t really matter who’s catching passes from him, Rodgers is just going to be Rodgers. The only knock on his dynasty value is obvious, his age. At 34 years old, we have to start wondering how much longer he’ll be able to carry our teams.

50) LeSean McCoy, RB BUF | 2017 Finish: RB 7 | Age: 29

Drafting LeSean McCoy is like buying a Mercedes-Benz with a rundown engine. The ride will be fun while it lasts, but you know it could fall apart any year now. I’d venture to guess that Shady has two or three elite years left. If he can continue to be as dominant as we know he can be, he’s well worth a shot at this point. McCoy will give you a low-end RB1 who you know will get heavy usage in the Bills offense. For owners building contending teams, these are the type of players who take you from contenders to champions.
