Standard Dynasty Rankings: 11-20

This article is a continuation of our Standard Dynasty Rankings Series that takes us through our full top 100 rankings.

In case you missed it, the top ten was pretty crazy. Six running backs and four wide receivers went off the board including the likes of Alvin Kamara and Kareem Hunt. Today, the script will be flipped as four ball carriers opposed to six pass catchers will be represented.

There will be some long-time household names and a few players who still have much to prove. Let’s get into 11-20 of our Standard Dynasty Rankings!

11) Leonard Fournette, RB JAX | 2017 Finish: RB 8 | Age: 23

Let’s start it off with the player many compared to Adrian Peterson when he was trucking defenders at LSU. Was Leonard Fournette’s rookie season spectacular? Not really, but you’d be hard-pressed to call it a disappointment either. The 2017 fourth overall pick still has things to work on, with his yards per carry and receiving game standing out, but he definitely showed he can play at the NFL level. If Fournette can continue to find the end zone like he did in 2017, he’ll be an RB1 for a very long time.

12) Michael Thomas, WR NO | 2017 Finish: WR 8 | Age: 25

Michael Thomas sees a significant drop from his number six rating in DLF’s PPR rankings. I have nothing against the 2016 second rounder, we just have some darn good running backs who have to take priority. Back to Thomas: we really can’t complain about anything this young man has done in his two years in New Orleans. He has already amassed two 1,000-yard seasons and has firmly cemented himself as Drew Brees’ number one target. Look for Thomas to just keep doing what he does.

13) Mike Evans, WR TB | 2017 Finish: WR 20 | Age: 24

The fun thing about standard scoring is that receivers get pushed down a bit, and feel like absolute steals when you draft them. Mike Evans is one example of that. The 2016 second-team All-Pro receiver had what we call a down year in 2017, but is still beaming with potential. With a gunslinger like Jameis Winston throwing him the football, there’s little to no reason to think Evans won’t bounce back. At age 24, it’s hard to find a better pick at 13.

14) Julio Jones, WR ATL | 2017 Finish: WR 6 | Age: 29

A lot has been said about Julio Jones, his three-touchdown 2017, and inevitable decline. I don’t think he’s going away anytime soon. Forget the touchdowns: we’re talking about a young man who over the past four seasons, has missed all of three games, and has averaged just under 1,600 yards. Do you want Julio Jones playing for your team? I know I do.

15) Dalvin Cook, RB MIN | 2017 Finish: Injury | Age: 22

I was tempted to move Dalvin Cook even higher up this list. After all, he was leading the NFL in rushing before his heartbreaking ACL injury. Sure, the NFL season was only three games deep. But what we saw out of Cook was enough for me and a lot of others to be convinced that he’s a legit difference maker. If he’s fully recovered from his knee issues, I don’t think it’ll take him much time at all to regain his form, and start making big plays once again.

16) Melvin Gordon, RB LAC | 2017 Finish: RB 5 | Age: 25

Melvin Gordon is a confusing back. He’s played three years in the NFL and is still yet to have a season where he averaged four yards a carry, and still, he consistently puts up RB1 numbers. I just don’t know what to think about him. Whichever way you slice it, we can’t ignore the fact that Gordon is coming off back-to-back top seven seasons, and is still the unquestioned lead back in LA. He may not be my guy, but you can definitely see why many love the 25-year-old.

17) Davante Adams, WR GB | 2017 Finish: WR 12 | Age: 25

Start spreading the news. Davante Adams is about to officially break out, and make losing Jordy Nelson sting a lot less for Packer fans. In case it’s not obvious, I have high hopes for this kid. Adams has already become Rodgers go-to red zone target, but what he hasn’t been able to do, however, is become a truly dominant receiver throughout the whole field. I’m thinking that he might just do that in 2018.

18) Keenan Allen, WR LAC | 2017 Finish: WR 3 | Age: 26

Does Keenan Allen all the way down at 18 feel a little bit weird? I know it does for me. To recap for those who don’t know: Allen was an absolute beast all of last year. If we can trust him to finally stay healthy, who knows how dominant he’ll become? Even discounting his 102 receptions that count for nada in standard scoring, Allen was able to carry, and I mean carry a lot of teams in the postseason. If he can put up another year like his last, he should have no problem moving up this list.

19) A.J. Green, WR CIN | 2017 Finish: WR 10 | Age: 29

A.J. Green must be one of the most likeable players in all of dynasty. He goes about his business, and produces year-in and year-out. He’s a staple who holds your team together when everything else is falling apart. Yeah, he’s 29 years old. And yes, he hasn’t had a truly dominant year for a couple years now. But that’s not enough for me to let the seven-time pro-bowler fall any further.

20) Joe Mixon, RB CIN | 2017 Finish: RB 32 | Age: 21

This 20 spot had a lot of good candidates. Even though Joe Mixon didn’t show a ton as a rookie, all of us in the dynasty community have a lot of trust that he’ll figure it out in 2018. He’s still so young, and even though the stats don’t necessarily show it, he’s overflowing with talent to work with. This upcoming year with be paramount for Mixon. If he proves he can play, owners will be clamoring to get him, but if he has another up and down season, the hype will severely cool off.
