FanDuel Bargains: Week 12

Peter Howard

Welcome back to the weekly FanDuel Value article. Every week (and into the post-season), I’ll be highlighting some of the best bargains on the best daily site in the industry, FanDuel.

We are concerned specifically with Grand Prize Pool (GPP) tournaments, which means these players offer higher upside but potentially lower floors. As value players they should also give you some cash relief to play higher priced players elsewhere in your lineup. Depending on how you construct your lineup their viability can change.

If you love playing daily fantasy football, remember you can get an Annual Subscription to DLF (a $29.99 value) by just signing up for FanDuel and depositing your initial $10 through this link.

Note: I use 4for4.com’s Adjusted Fantasy Points Allowed (aFPA) to determine defensive rankings and pro-football-reference.com to find raw stats. When referring to defensive efficiency metrics I’m using www.sharpfootballstats.com.

Quarterback

Jacoby Brissett, QB IND ($6900)

Line: -3

O/U: 45.5 TEN

OPP: TEN

After playing the Browns, Ravens and the Bengals (plus going on a bye) it might be easy to forget how soft the Titans pass defense has been this year. They have only allowed the 14th-most passing yards (2,412) but have given up the fourth most passing touchdowns (21) to date. Most recently they gave up four passing touchdowns and 40 points to the Steelers in week 11. They rank 24th in aFPA to the quarterback position.

Jacoby Brissett has been in the concussion protocol through the Colts bye but he wasn’t on the final injury report and should be good to go. He has been solid as a starter, averaging 15.4 rushing yards and has rushed for three touchdowns himself. Brissett has the floor to be a great value priced as the QB18 on the week and the matchup to have significant GPP level upside.

Other Options: Alex Smith (7600), Tyrod Taylor (6900), Andy Dalton (7200), Matt Moore (6000)

Running Back

Tevin Coleman, RB ATL ($6200)

Line: -9.5

O/U: 48.5 ATL

OPP: TB

Tevin Coleman is a home favorite in the second-highest game total of the week. What’s more he is underpriced as the RB15 as the news the Devonta Freeman would miss week twelve came out after pricing was released. Tampa Bay has given up the 20th-most rushing yards and has been more easily exploited in the passing game – giving up the third most yards (2,763). However Coleman is simply too cheap for a lead back in a good situation so it’s a price/volume play we shouldn’t ignore. He has a history of explosive plays as well, which means given the volume he should see he could become almost essential.

Other Options: DeMarco Murray (6500), Frank Gore (5200), Dion Lewis (6200)

Wide Receiver

Corey Davis, WR TEN ($5400)

Line: -3

O/U: 45.5 TEN

OPP: IND

If we ever got tired of waiting for rookie breakout games, I’m not sure what we’d do with our time. However, this could be Corey Davis’ week. In dynasty he is an exciting prospect, but so far he has been unable to really unleash his full potential at the NFL level. However, since getting healthy he has risen to a 22.4% target market share in the last three weeks with twenty two total targets. He has exactly zero targets inside the ten yard line, however.

But Rishard Matthews has turned up on the injury report with a hamstring injury. This may help him get more targets. Still, priced as the WR43 and in a good matchup against the Colts, who rank as the fifth-best matchup in aFPA, I’m not too worried.

Other Options; Kenny Stills (5600), Brandin Cooks (7600), Michael Thomas (7600), Sammy Watkins (5900),

Tight End

Jared Cook, TE OAK($5500)

Line: -5

O/U: 43

OPP: DEN

Tight end value looks tough this week with a lot of the best matchups belonging to the high priced players at the position. However Jared Cook has been getting steady volume in the Raiders’ offense with six targets a game and a 16.8% target market share on the season (17.9% market share in the last three weeks.) He has also secured six targets on the season inside the red zone and has an Expected Value (EV) score of – seven, indicating possible red zone regression.

Denver, on the other hand, has repeatedly allowed tight ends to put up yards on them while their elite cornerbacks shut down the outside of the field. They rank as the second best matchup for the position according to aFPA having given up the second most yards and the third-most touchdowns to tight ends this year.

Other options: Jack Doyle (5700), Garrett Celek (4500)
