IDP Waiver Watch: Week Ten

Brandon Salamat

We’re in crunch time in Fantasy Football. With week ten coming up, there’s been many of us who have suffered a brutal blow to our offenses by losing Deshaun Watson for the season. On the IDP side of the ball, thankfully there weren’t too many injuries that made a huge impact for us, but there a handful of players coming back this week.

Returning Players

Denzel Perryman, LB LAC

Perryman is expected to make his season debut against the Jaguars and should take over MLB duties; so there’s a good chance we’ve seen the last of Hayes Pullard who has filled in for him (IDP wise) pretty impressively. Many owners have kept him on IR, but if you’re in a league where an owner had dropped him I would suggest to pick him up if you haven’t already.

Obi Melifonwu, FS OAK

Obi made his season debut and as expected, he was eased in and will continue to be for at least the next couple of weeks. He saw a total of 7 snaps against the Dolphins and the breakdown was 4 at corner, 2 at outside linebacker and 1 at free safety. Many dynasty owners have him stashed on the Taxi Squad as I recommended this off-season. If you’re an owner, continue to leave him stashed and ready to unleash in 2018. We just want to see how OAK utilizes Obi because he can be something special and become part of a good pairing with Karl Joseph.

Ramon Humber, LB BUF

Humber made his return after missing the last four weeks due to a thumb injury and pretty much picked up where he left off. He played 50 snaps to Matt Milano’s 10 and racked up 5 tackles. It’s safe to say you can roll him out as you were earlier this season.

Matt Milano, LB BUF

Unfortunately with Humber’s return, he went back to his bench role and played just 10 snaps against the Jets on Thursday. He’s a safe drop in redraft leagues and if your dynasty league has a short bench, drop him. If you’re able to hold him into the off-season, it’s worth seeing how Buffalo shuffles things after the season is done.

Keenan Robinson, LB NYG

In what was a prime opportunity for Robinson to take advantage of his playing time as both BJ Goodson and Jonathan Casillas were out with injuries, he went and got injured himself (quad) near the end of the first quarter and never returned. This was short-lived, and you could consider dropping him for someone else this week.

Anthony Hitchens, LB DAL

I’d like to apologize on Hitchens because I’d thought he’d have a bigger role when he got back from injury being that DAL was hurting at the inside. Unfortunately, in the last two games he saw 26 and 28 snaps and hasn’t been putting up useful IDP numbers that we’d like as a LB3/Flex. The positive is that he’s still playing more than Jaylon Smith, but it’s not by much. It’s time to pump the brakes on him and I would put him on waivers if you have another viable option out there.

Linebackers

Brock Coyle, LB SF

He has come out of nowhere the last two weeks and has possibly surpassed Ray-Ray Armstrong going forward. In his last two games he’s played 70 and 64 snaps while starting in week nine next to Rueben Foster. In both games he saw his snaps, he racked up 9 tackles in each and has now entered our IDP radar as a pick up if you need some depth or a bye week starter in week ten. If you start three or more LBs then I’d suggest to make a move for Coyle. If you have a shallow bench, leave him alone.

Calvin Munson, LB NYG

With Goodson, Casillas and now Robinson out with injuries Munson has re-entered the IDP picture, being a little relevant for the time being they’re out. He put up 6 tackles and 1 FF against the Rams and would start at MLB again if Goodson or Robinson miss the week ten game.

Curtis Grant, LB NYG

Grant got called up from the practice squad in week nine because NYG needed LB Depth and he played 57 snaps. It might also help that Keenan Robinson didn’t return to the game either. But don’t worry about picking him up, as it may just be a short term fix and the starters may return soon.

Defensive Line

Marcell Dareus, DT JAC

With a recent trade to the Jaguars he joins a stout unit on the front and recorded 3 tackles in his debut. I’d give him a look only in DT-required leagues as your backup because I believe he’ll turn it around but also he’s going to be in a heavy rotation between Calais Campbell and Malik Jackson with a little sprinkle of Sheldon Day as well.

Avery Moss, DE NYG

With injuries to Kerry Wynn and Olivier Vernon, Moss stepped up in an impressive way against the Rams in week nine. He racked up 6 tackles and saw 56 snaps, which was a season high. I would keep him on queue and monitor the status on Vernon and Wynn during the week because I don’t think anyone will be rushing to the waiver to grab Moss just yet (unless you’re in a deep league and waivers are slim). He should be in for a solid dose of tackles when he gets the opportunities.

Leger Douzable, DE SF

First off, he’s been starting because the Niners have injuries up front. Otherwise, he’s not that good of a player. Yet he’s put up back-to-back solid outings, so I guess oil and water mix? He had 2 sacks against the Eagles then put up 6 tackles against the Cardinals. Maybe he just had good back-to-back matchups? I would just keep him on your radars, but there’s no need to rush and add him. Solomon Thomas could be back next week and eat into his snaps. It’s a situation to monitor. He faces the New York Giants in week ten and could vault into a plug and play option.

Defensive Backs

Bradley McDougald, FS SEA

With Earl Thomas out with an injury, McDougald stepped in place of him against the Redskins. If the hamstring injury keeps Thomas out for week ten, then McDougald makes a pretty good option against the Cardinals on Thursday. McDougald recorded 5 tackles against the Redskins and will continue to get those type of numbers as long as he gets the opportunity. Though if you’re not hurting at DB, I wouldn’t bother making a move.

George Iloka, FS CIN

Although he’s an inconsistent DB, he does flash here and there and seems to be the lone healthy Cincinnati safety. He recorded 7 tackles against the Jaguars in week nine, and would be a pickup for me if I needed the depth or a bye week filler. Iloka is not a ‘run to the waivers’ add, but need a weekly streamer and there’s a good matchup, Iloka is one of your guys.
