DLF’s 2017 IDP Predictions: Best Dynasty Sell

Eric Olinger

At this time of year there is absolutely no shortage of fantasy football articles, information, metrics and ADP but it always comes back to one question: “who are you drafting/avoiding?” We get a lot of those kinds of tweets and predictions are my favorite part of the preseason. If you have as many hits as you did misses you did great but nobody remembers the hits. Instead, you’ll be crucified for that one miss…and I love it. So I asked my DLF brethren to give me their IDP predictions for 2017. We’ll undoubtedly have some of those hits and misses so let’s get right to them. Today we’re focusing on the “Best IDP Sell.”

Benardick McKinney, LB HOU

You could throw in Brian Cushing here too if you wanted, because the future belongs to rookie Zach Cunningham. It won’t be long until he takes over full-time in the middle, pushing both McKinney and Cushing to the bench on third down. Get out while you can recoup some value. – Doug Green

Luke Kuechly, LB CAR

Is he an elite linebacker? Yes, but there are levels for concern here as he had a devastating concussion last season that forced him to miss six games and that look on his face is an image that is definitely hard to forget.  There are still buyers out there and his value is still sky high; even if you make a lateral move where you acquire Bobby Wagner – I’d make the switch. – Brandon “Bee” Salamat

Alec Ogletree, LB LAR

It’s time to get a truck-load for Alec Ogletree. His trade value may never be this high again. – Bob Brannon

Deone Bucannon, LB ARI

Shameless plug, but Jeremy Funk came on the “Read and React Pod and dropped a truth bomb about Bucannon. He happens to lead all active players in number of documented concussions. Thats incredibly scary and while his value might raise some in-season, I want out as soon as possible. – Adam Tzikas

Alec Ogletree LB LAR

He’s an average NFL player (although his reputation has been inflated by Hard Knocks and IDP success) and was a top-three linebacker in snaps in 2016.  With Wade Phillips taking over the Rams defense, he’s likely going to take a major step back.  I have him outside my top 40 LBs in my projections. – Tom Kislingbury

C.J. Mosley, LB BAL

Are my IDP “buys” and “sells” both linebackers from the same team? Yup. Simply put, I don’t believe Mosley will be a solid return on investment. He’s currently being drafted as a top ten dynasty linebacker and I don’t think his stats will ever back that up. I believe teams scheme him out of the run game and he absorbs the attention for others to make plays, a la Zachary Orr in 2016 and hopefully Kamalei Correa in 2017. If you can get a LB1 return on the trade market due to name value, do it. – Eric Olinger
