DLF’s 2017 IDP Predictions: Best Dynasty Buy

Eric Olinger

At this time of year there is absolutely no shortage of fantasy football articles, information, metrics and ADP but it always comes back to one question: “who are you drafting/avoiding?” We get a lot of those kinds of tweets and predictions are my favorite part of the preseason. If you have as many hits as you did misses you did great but nobody remembers the hits. Instead, you’ll be crucified for that one miss…and I love it. So I asked my DLF brethren to give me their IDP predictions for 2017. We’ll undoubtedly have some of those hits and misses so let’s get right to them. Today we’re focusing on the “Best IDP Buy”.

AJ Klein, LB NO

Ha! Didn’t see that coming, did you? Klein has been making all kinds of noise this preseason after starting his career as Luke Kuechly’s understudy. Plus he’s only 26. Grab him while the price is still low. – Doug Green

Lavonte David, LB TB

Still just 27 years old, he’s finally found some continuity with his defensive coordinator as it seemed like every year the Bucs kept changing them.  Are the days of Lavonte getting 100 solo tackles gone? Probably, but he does so much more now he still holds LB1 value even with Kwon Alexander in town.  It’s insane I’ve been able to acquire Lavonte as my LB2 all draft season – there’s enough to go around to have both Kwon and Lavonte to finish in the top ten. – Brandon “Bee” Salamat

Shaq Thompson, LB CAR

The price is right and 90% of the IDP world would sell him for a dime. –Bob Brannon

Jahleel Addae, S LAC

Get in now folks. Addae isn’t only a talented, hard hitting safety, but is in a system that will cater to him coming into the box often. I expect him to make a strong case for top five safety production and he can be had for much less than top five safety prices. –Adam Tzikas

Brandon Graham, DE PHI

In almost all scoring systems I love defensive ends because the drop-off is so steep.  There just aren’t many consistently effective pass-rushers.  Although he has never put up huge sack numbers, Graham is one of those elite pass rushers.  He was third in pressures in 2016 and I like him to improve his numbers this year.  Remember another pass rusher who had a load of pressures but not sacks? Khalil Mack as a rookie.  Brandon Graham is going absurdly cheap and I’m buying him wherever possible. –Tom Kislingbury

Nick Vigil, LB CIN

He can be had for cheap at the moment and has a ton of potential. I don’t trust Vontaze Burfict to stay healthy or out of trouble and Vigil is already working himself into a ton of snaps. This is a young linebacker you could really nab for pennies on the dollar in most leagues. – Ken Kelly

Kamalei Correa, ILB BAL

With the sudden retirement, un-retirement and ultimately re-retirement of Zachary Orr, the Ravens have a hole in the middle of their defense next to C.J. Mosley. Many expected the Ravens to address the need in free agency or the draft, but they didn’t. Instead, they’re moving forward with 2016 second round linebacker Kamalei Correa. Correa only played 46 snaps as a rookie but John Harbaugh loves him and he will be given plenty of opportunity to succeed. I’ve always thought Mosley was a great NFL linebacker and an okay fantasy linebacker. I’d rather roll the dice on the cheap alternative with huge upside. – Eric Olinger
