Devy Stock Market: Week Five
The fantasy football stock market is constantly fluctuating and it is always important for us to know which players have a price that has become exploitable whether it be to buy or sell. Pieces like this one have been fairly commonplace in the industry for a while in both redraft and dynasty, but I will be focusing on college players for devy dynasty leagues and how their week-to-week performances are affecting their price in those leagues.

Kizer is on a roll
Deshone Kizer, QB Notre Dame
Deshone Kizer has been one of the best quarterbacks in college football through five weeks of the season. While it hasn’t resulted in success for the Golden Domers as they sit at 2-3, the losses haven’t been the fault of the offense as they have scored 28 or more in each game. Kizer has positioned himself to be one of the players vying to be the #1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft. Kizer has completed 62.9% of his passes for 1567 yards, 14 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. He has eclipsed 344 passing yards and two touchdowns in each of his last three games, including a 471 passing yard, three touchdowns and one pick performance last week on the road at Syracuse. In addition to his ability in the passing game, Kizer also has value as a runner, rushing for 525 yards and ten touchdowns in his first season as a starter in 2015. He has continued that success on the ground with 187 rushing yards and six touchdowns so far this season.
Equanimeous! Gazuntite!
Equanimeous St. Brown, WR Notre Dame
Outside of deep Devy leagues, incoming freshmen rarely get much hype, but Equanimeous St. Brown was one of few to get talked about and drafted the moment he stepped on campus. St. Brown quickly became a difficult-to-spell household name for devy leaguers. St. Brown didn’t do much in his true freshman season with only one catch for eight yards. However, he has lived up to the hype in his sophomore season with at least four catches for 75 receiving yards in each of the first five games. But the true breakout for St. Brown has come in the last two games, where he has caught ten passes for 298 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns against Duke and Syracuse. If St. Brown’s hot performance continues, he could be vying to be a top five devy pick in leagues where he isn’t owned in 2017.
Solving Calvin Ridley
Calvin Ridley, WR Alabama
Like most Alabama players, Calvin Ridley was one of the most hyped players in his recruiting class and he proved to be worth the hype with an impressive Freshman season with 89 receptions for 1045 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. The main thing that has prevented Ridley from becoming one of the top ranked devy players is his age. Ridley will be 22 in December and will be 23.5 years old by the time of his first eligible draft. Even with his advanced age, Ridley has shown so far in 2016 that age is just a number and he is going to be a big performer at the college level. Ridley has caught at least eight passes in three of Alabama’s five games, and he is averaging 124 receiving yards and a touchdown those three games. Another encouraging sign for Ridley is he has gotten more involved in the running game. My infatuation with wide receivers began with this piece by former DLFer Russell Clay where he did research on why rushing yards in college can be a predictor of NFL success for wide receivers. Ridley only has five carries for 21 rushing yards, so it isn’t really about Ridley being a great runner, it is just another indicator that he is a very talented player whose team wants to find as many ways as possible to get his hands on the ball during a game.
Shock Back To Rocking
Shock Linwood, RB Baylor  Â
As someone who has been playing devy for the last few seasons, it seems like Shock Linwood has been in college for seven years, but in fact, this is only his fourth season in college. Linwood has been producing since he stepped on campus in 2013, averaging 6.9 yards per carry with 881 rushing yards and eight touchdowns in his Freshman season. Linwood followed that up with another two stellar seasons, combining for 2581 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns in 2014 and 2015. Linwood’s senior season started a little slow as he failed to reach 100 rushing yards or the end zone in each of the first four games, however, things turned around in a big way last week as Linwood ran for 237 rushing yards and a touchdown against Iowa State with a 9.5 yards per carry on the game. Linwood is likely owned in most devy leagues, but he could be a sneaky late pick in regular rookie drafts with 2017 being such a stacked class.
