SEC

Premier Conference Performer

Derrick Henry, RB Alabama (Junior)

38 carries, 210 yards, three touchdowns vs. LSU

In a game that featured a couple of potential highly-drafted running backs, it was Henry that shone brightest Saturday. He controlled the ground game for the Tide in a nationally-televised showcase.

Rising Players

Brandon Allen, QB Arkansas (Senior)

33/45 442 yards, six touchdowns, six carries, six yards vs. Ole Miss

The highlight that everyone will remember is the lateral at the end of the game, but Allen had himself a very good day in a wild upset. Easily his best game of the season, Allen made sure that the Razorbacks were in position for the chance for the win.

Dak Prescott, QB Mississippi State (Senior)

27/40 303 yards, four touchdowns, 14 carries, 47 yards vs. Missouri

Prescott lit it up through the air Saturday. Normally, a threat on the ground as well, his running opportunities were limited, but it did not matter. His task becomes harder this week as the Bulldogs will face off against Alabama.

Demarus Robinson, WR Florida (Junior)

Nine catches, 106 yards vs. Vanderbilt

The Gators clinched the SEC East with the win. Robinson had a fumble late, but otherwise had a solid effort in a win.

Falling Players

Leonard Fournette, RB LSU (Sophomore)

19 carries, 31 yards, one touchdown vs. Alabama

Whoa. Is that a typo? Fournette is on this list? While his stock certainly isn’t falling, he did turn in his worst game of the season against a very good Tide defense.

Patrick Towles, QB Kentucky (Junior)

8/21 96 yards, two interceptions, one carry, -8 yards vs. Georgia

There’s a whole lot of yuck in that statline and that lead to another loss for the Wildcats. Towles has not looked good all year.

J’Mon Moore, WR Missouri (Sophomore)

Three catches, 17 yards vs. Mississippi State

Moore actually led the team in catches and 12 of his 17 yards came on one catch. The Tigers have other issues on campus, but their football team simply isn’t very good.

Freshman Spotlight

Christian Kirk, WR Texas A&M

Seven catches, 44 yards, two carries, four yards vs. Auburn

Kirk is an explosive playmaker and someone to target in your devy leagues. He has had a couple bumps in the road this season, but his future is very bright.

BIG 12

Premier Conference Performer

Baker Mayfield, QB Oklahoma (Junior)

23/31 342 yards, three touchdowns, 10 carries, 27 yards, one touchdown vs. Iowa State

Mayfield was all systems go against a weaker opponent Saturday completing 74 percent of his passes along with three scores. The Sooners are still in the hunt for the conference title.

Rising Players

Wendell Smallwood, RB West Virginia

22 carries, 163 yards, one touchdown, one catch, 11 yards vs. Texas Tech

After being challenged by the coaching staff, Smallwood responded with one of his best games of the season on the ground. Texas Tech is a poor run defense, but the Mountaineers haven’t won in a month and were looking for a spark.

D’Onta Foreman, RB Texas (Sophomore)

12 carries, 157 yards, two touchdowns vs. Kansas

One of his touchdowns went for 93 yards, third longest in school history. The Longhorns have had an up-and-down season but looked good against a less opponent Saturday.

James Washington, WR Oklahoma State (Sophomore)

Five catches, 184 yards, three touchdowns vs. TCU

That’s an impressive line, couple that with the fact that it came against a pretty good TCU defense and Washington’s day really impresses. Checking in a 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, he is someone to keep an eye on in your devy league.

Falling Players

Trevone Boykin, QB TCU (Senior)

35/57 445 yards, one touchdown, four interceptions, 19 carries, 73 yards, two touchdowns vs. Oklahoma State

The Horned Frogs went out and laid an egg against the Cowboys. Boykin probably took himself out of Heisman contention with his game and maybe pushed TCU out of the playoff picture.

Ryan Willis, QB Kansas (Freshman)

17/34 214 yards, one touchdown, two interceptions, 12 carries, one yard vs. Texas

You know it’s a rough season when you get blown out by Texas, which has issues of their own. The Jayhawks need to look towards the future and write off 2015.

Joel Lanning, QB Iowa State (Sophomore)

26/51 260 yards, one touchdown, one interception, 11 carries, 37 yards vs. Oklahoma

The Cyclones changed their offensive coordinator last week and had some success, but this week, went back to struggling against a very good Sooners squad. The 5.1 yards per completion is disappointing considering Iowa State was behind the entire game.

Freshman Spotlight

Jarrett Stidham, QB Baylor

23/33 419 yards, three touchdowns, seven carries, one yard, one touchdown vs. Kansas State

Stidham has stepped in for the Bears and they haven’t skipped a beat in their chase for the national title. The road gets appreciably harder in the coming weeks as Baylor has to play Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU and Texas to close out the season.
