Fan Duel Four: Week Nine

George Kritikos

This week, George is going to be taking us through the FanDuel Four as Ghost is moving out of his mother’s basement and into a new home. Hopefully the FanDuel Four article will be the same with another hand at the helm. Welcome back to the FanDuel Four featuring DLF’s daily experts Chris Heil, Nick Whalen, TheFFGhost and George Kritikos. Let’s get this party started with this week’s highest scorers:

George: “Chris has a QB cutie pie in Eli Manning, hoping the younger brother can find a way to carry over last week’s magic into this week’s matchup. What sayeth you Nick?”

Nick: “Eli has two straight games with 3 TD passes and now faces a soft pass D. Sign me up!”

Ghost: “Definitely like Eli this week but not as the top quarterback. I think (Tom) Brady should once again claim the top spot this week.”

George: “Yeah, Eli may have blown his wad last week but does get another easy matchup. I’m leaning (Philip) Rivers at home against an anemic Chicago secondary.”

George: “Heil went with a stud from week eight and Nick is doing the same with rookie sweetheart Todd Gurley. Give me your thoughts Chris…”

Chris: “Sure the matchup is not ideal. You have to continue to play him until the wheels fall off. I rather get burnt than miss on the money.”

Ghost: “Sorry Chris, I think Gurley comes a little bit back to earth this week, just a little though. For the top running back I think (Devonta) Freeman or even (Mark) Ingram have a much more direct path to that feat than Gurley does.”

George: “I’m with Ghost here. Gurley faces a stingy Minnesota defense to RBs. That may not matter as he is playing other-worldly. Devonta Freeman gets the 49ers, a much easier matchup.”

George: “Ghost is going with Alshon Jeffery this week against the Chargers. Is he onto something here or just on something?”

Chris: “(Martellus) Bennett seems to not being targeted much and this offense is being ran through Jeffrey. The absence of (Matt) Forte may lead to more of a passing game. Consider this a yes from me.”

George: “I can’t help myself but dissent here. I’m fearful of the SD secondary just locking in on Jeffery, especially without the threat of Forte. Odell Beckham has a soft secondary to feast upon. He’s my choice to lead the position.”

Nick: “Sorry George, you are off on this one. I really like this call in a great matchup for Jeffery. He’s being targeted heavily and they’ll be down most of the game.”

George: “It’s ok guys, I’m just a self-loathing Bears fan. Tyler Eifert put up a heck of a game but luckily, that was on Thursday. I am shockingly going with Rob Gronkowski. Any doubters?”

Chris: “Do I really need to try and tell you any different?”

Ghost: “Yeah, it’s not even close this week. Gronk should dominate the tight end position this week, but when is that really different than most weeks?”

Nick:“It’s Gronk’s world and we’re just living in it. He’s the only choice here.”

[inlinead]George: “Heil knocked it out of the park with Eli Manning last week. Got another one hidden next to that fresh pile of money with Blake Bortles?”

Nick: “I don’t trust him yet, only two games with more than 2 TD passes on the year. I’d rather roll with (Jay) Cutler in a shootout against his old foe.”

Ghost: “I like this pick Nick as an under the radar value. Most people will be looking at bigger names but Bortles’ matchup is decent considering the Jets will likely shut down the run early.”

George: “I don’t like paying for Bortles knowing Eli is just $200 more. If I really want to scrape the barrel for a cheap option, give me Jameis (Winston) in a game script that will likely dictate volume against a suspect opponent.”

George: “Does Nick just have Darren McFadden on the brain after a certain podcast we recorded or is there real value here?”

Chris: “The price is right, I’m just not sure he can maximize his opportunity. He will post an average game and I rather use someone like Ronnie Hillman or DeMarco Murray.”

George: “I am with Nick here. Philly’s defense is tough to run on but Dallas’ offensive line and DMC’s versatility should give him volume and opportunity. Oh yeah, that Tony Romo guy is still hurt.”

Ghost: “My apologies to the FilMetrx podcast (editor’s note: available on iTunes) but I don’t see it. I think McFadden will have a slight above average game but I don’t think his price is low enough in terms of value. I’d lean to maybe (Danny) Woodhead or (Doug) Martin for better point to price ratios.”

George: “Ghost is looking to our nation’s capital with Pierre Garcon. What do you say Nick? Is he right or just patriotic?”

Nick: “With DeSean Jackson potentially coming back this week, I’m fading on Garcon. He needs lots of targets to be productive and that’s not a guarantee.”

Chris: “I agree that Jackson returning could be an issue with the targets dipping a bit. I still think the play is good though.”

George: “Garcon has burned me this year, falling just short of delivering value. I blame Kirk Cousins and his lack of consistency. Malcom Floyd could burn the Bears secondary and see an increase in volume with Keenan Allen on the IR.”

George: “Some dissention in the group once again. Can I unify the team with a Martellus Bennett selection?”

Nick: “Until Chicago realizes they have a TE, I am passing on the Black Unicorn.”

Ghost: “Same here George, Bennett just seems like a middle of the road value for me. I think (Charles) Clay could be the value play here this week. I look for him to get a good chunk of points with Tyrod Taylor’s likely return.”

Chris: “It’s unanimous, but not the way George was hoping for. No thank you and actually, do you know where he is? I kind of miss him and would like to see him soon.”

George: “Last week, Chris went with (Andrew) Luck. This week, it’s (Aaron) Rodgers. Is this real life?”

Nick: “Yes sir! Avoid!”

Ghost: “Definitely on board with this call. Rodgers is going to have a tough game and points aren’t going to be easy to come by. Great call on Chris’ part here.”

George: “Luck and Rodgers both have tough matchups this week. Be afraid, be very afraid.”

George: “Let’s keep this agreement going. Nick is avoiding possibly the only starting running back older than he is. You an ageist Chris?”

Chris: “(Frank) Gore is just meh to me. He doesn’t have big play capability. Pass.”

George: “Been on the fence with this. Denver is much more vulnerable against the run compared to the pass. This may be the Colts best chance to win. Still, I am not exciting about Gore’s chances.”

Ghost: “I share Chris’ disinterest. I’ve rarely played him this season so I can get behind this, especially given his matchup.”

George: “Ghost is avoiding a Colt as well. Eugene (T.Y.) Hilton is his selection. Nick, break it down for me.”

Nick: “Last I checked Hilton hasn’t practiced this week. Combined with the matchup, easy fade this week.”

George: “I’m with you Nick. A questionable injury status is an easy avoid. Also, playing a Denver defense doesn’t make him a nice choice even if healthy.”

Chris: “Don’t forget, Andrew Luck’s injury is still being questioned as well. I wouldn’t pay this much and would look elsewhere.”

George: “Everyone keeps agreeing so can I be provocative with a Charles Clay avoid?”

Ghost: “Definitely disagree here. I actually think Clay could be one of the better sneaky options this week at tight end. Lots of things point to a nice day for Clay, I might be playing a little more than normal actually.”

Chris: “I’d rather we just talk about my boy Tyrod being back?! Haha I like him this week but, I don’t love. He will finish middle of the road. I like him for cash games.”
