Dynasty Scouts Conference Reviews: Pac-12 and Around the Country
With college football in full swing, we’ll be bringing you a review each and every week. These recaps will feature sections for “Premier Conference Performer,” “Rising Players,” “Falling Players,” and a special Freshman spotlight. These weekly reviews will keep you up-to-date on all the happenings in devy leagues and allow you to keep tabs on future dynasty league assets. By the time the NFL Draft rolls around, you won’t see too many strangers.

Premier Conference Performer
Luke Falk QB, (Sophomore) Washington State
39/50 passing, 407 yards, six touchdowns vs. Oregon State
Luke Falk was nearly perfect missing only 11 attempts for a 78 percent completion percentage. His 407 yards and six touchdowns took down the Oregon State Beavers by the score of 52-31. He hit Dom Williams and Jamal Morrow for two touchdowns and also connected with Gabe Marks and River Cracraft for one touchdown apiece. Falk now has 2,371 yards passing to go along with 21 touchdowns and just four interceptions. He has three games this season where he has thrown over 400 yards. He also has 912 yards passing and 12 total touchdowns in his last two games. Next week Washington State travels to take on Arizona, and then meetup with No. 10 Stanford at home.

Rising Players
Sefo Liufau QB, Colorado (Junior)
28/43 passing, 339 yards, two touchdowns, zero interceptions, ten carries, 13 yards, two rushing touchdowns vs. Arizona
Liufau completed 65.1 percent of his passes and had 339-yards with two touchdowns. He was equally adept with his legs as he rushed for 13 and had two rushing touchdowns. Liufau has two straight 300-yard passing games and on the season has 1,730-yards passing with eight touchdowns and three interceptions. Liufau two touchdown passes went for 72 yards to Shay Fields in the first quarter then again to Fields for a 30-yard with 2:19 remaining. Liufau has thrown a touchdown in six straight games. Colorado will try to break their three-game losing streak when taking on Oregon State in Oregon, and then travel to Los Angeles to take on UCLA.
Christian McCaffrey RB, Stanford (Sophomore)
25 carries 243 yards, four touchdowns vs. UCLA
The Bruins couldn’t figure out an answer for Christian McCaffrey as he ran for 243 yards and four touchdowns. His first two touchdowns came in the second quarter. A 28-yard run put the Cardinals up 35-10. In the third quarter, McCaffrey took a direct snap and went for 70 yards up the middle for the score. McCaffrey finished his scoring night in the third quarter with a six-yard touchdown for a 56-20 lead over UCLA. He now has 844 yards on 130 attempts with five touchdowns on the season and has 16 receptions for 172 yards and a touchdown. Stanford will take their five-game winning streak against Washington at home and then travel to take on the Washington State Cougars.
Dom Williams WR, Washington State (Senior)
11 catches, 158 yards, two touchdowns vs. Oregon State
The senior was the primary beneficiary of Luke Falk’s great night. His 11 receptions were over the double amount he is averaging on the season, and so was his 158-yards. He scored for the fourth time in six games, and the Cougars now have won two games straight. Williams first touchdown came on a three-yard passing touchdown in the first quarter, he then scored again in the second quarter 11-yards out with 0:17 remaining. On the season, Williams has 36 receptions for 526-yards and six touchdowns. The Cougars will travel to take on Arizona, and then meetup with No. 10 Stanford at home.
Falling Players
Jake Browning QB, Washington (Freshman)
19/30 passing, 199 passing yards, one touchdown, zero interceptions vs. Oregon
Browning struggled to get anything going against Oregon. The freshman could only amass 199 yards in the air and throw for one touchdown. He had nice accuracy on the ball as he completed with 63.3 percent of his passes. Browning has showed his inexperience this season, as he has four games where he has thrown under 200-yards and four games that he has thrown an interception. His solid last game came against Utah State where he threw for 368 yards and three touchdowns. On the season, Browning has 1,332-yards and six touchdowns with five interceptions. Washington will take on No. 10 Stanford next week in California and then Arizona at home.
Kalen Ballage RB, Arizona State (Sophomore)
18 carries, 49 yards, zero touchdowns, one reception, five yards vs. Utah
Kalen Ballage couldn’t find any room rushing the ball as he finished with just 49 yards on 18 carries. His longest run of the day was 15 yards, so he finished with 17 carries for 34 yards. Ballage has increased his rushing attempts each week since the Sun Devils faced USC in week four. His carries have gone from 9-11-15-18. In that time, he has rushed for 183-yards on 54 carries with just one touchdown. He also does very little in the passing game, as shown by the four receptions he has total. Arizona State will face Oregon next week then onto Washington State.
Cayleb Jones WR, Arizona (Junior)
Six catches, 94 yards, zero touchdowns vs. Colorado
Cayleb Jones wasn’t awful in the reception category as his six receptions was the most he had all season. The 94 yards isn’t bad either, it is his second most he has had this season. Even not having a touchdown an oddity as he has just one, which took place in week one. The disappointment was that Arizona scored 38 points, and he did little to change that. His long of 34 yards was his only highlight of the game. Jones has 27 receptions for 364 yards and one touchdown. Arizona now will face Washington State at home and then travel to Washington.
Freshman Spotlight
Josh Rosen QB, UCLA
22/42 passing, 325 yards, three touchdowns vs. Stanford
Rosen keeps playing week as he had 325 yards passing and three touchdowns against Stanford. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough as their defense just couldn’t stop the Cardinals from scoring. Josh Rosen hit 50 percent of his passes, but his two interceptions didn’t help stop Stanford. His two interceptions was his first multi-interception game since his stinker against BYU. He also had his second three hundred yard game on the season and had thrown for a touchdown each game. He now has two games where he has thrown three touchdowns. On the season, Rosen has 1,569 yards passing with 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions. UCLA will try to erase their two-game losing streak against No. 20 California at home, and then Colorado at home for back-to-back games.

Matt Johnson QB, Bowling Green (Senior)
25/30 passing, 357 yards, five touchdowns, no interceptions vs. Akron
Matt Johnson threw far fewer passes than his normal average, as he normally attempts 43 per game but had his second lowest total for the year with 30. His yardage numbers didn’t suffer nor did his completion rate as the offense ran roughshod over Akron. Johnson hit Roger Lewis twice for scores, and Gehrig Dieter, Ryan Burbank, and Travis Greene for one touchdown apiece. Johnson now has 24 touchdowns on the season with 2,891 yards passing and only three interceptions. The Falcons have won three in a row now and are first place in the MAC East. Bowling Green will travel to take on Kent and then face Ohio at home.
Rising Players
Brandon Doughty QB, Western Kentucky (Senior)
26/37 passing, 350 passing yards, four touchdowns, one interception vs. North Texas
Doughty was sharp and minus one interception consistently drove Western Kentucky down the field for scores. Doughty hit Taywan Taylor for two long touchdowns. The first went for 56, and the other was a 31 yards at the end of the second quarter. He connected with Anthony Wales and Jared Dangerfield in the first quarter for scores. The Hilltoppers remain in first place with a 6-1 record and have won their last four games. They face their toughest test next week as they face No. 5 LSU on the road, and then take on Old Dominion in Virginia on Halloween.
Anthony Wales RB, Western Kentucky (Junior)
21 carries, 193 yards, two touchdowns, five catches, 66 yards, one touchdown vs. North Texas
Anthony Wales was Doughty right-hand man this week against North Texas. Wales scored three touchdowns himself on 193-yards rushing. Wales also caught five passes for 66-yards and another score. He scored his first touchdown on a five-yard pass from Brandon Doughty. Wales then scored on 8-yard and a 1-yard runs. Wales has 313 yards on 43 carries with two touchdowns in the season. He was out the first four games of the season due to injury and had only three carries in week five.
Zach Pascal WR, Old Dominion (Junior)
11 catches, 231 yards, three touchdowns vs. Charlotte
Pascal scored his first touchdown on a 53-yard reception from David Washington in the first quarter. Three quarters later Pascal scored two more times. Washington hit him from 15-yards out, and then with 2:18 left, Pascal caught what would eventually be the game winner from 11 yards. Pascal had his best game of the season against Charlotte. He had 14 receptions for 123 yards and no touchdowns prior to this breakout performance. Old Dominion will take on Florida International next week on the road, and then Western Kentucky at home.
Falling Players
Brett Rypien QB, Boise State (Freshman)
25/50 passing, 299 passing yards, no passing touchdowns, three interceptions vs. Utah State
Brett Rypien had been on a solid streak since replacing the injured Ryan Finley. In the five games he has played (four starts), he has 1,356 yards passing with seven touchdowns and four interceptions. Then Utah State came crashing in, and Rypien had on display his freshman tendencies, and that he is just a still learning the game. He completed just half his passes for 299 yards, but for the first time did not throw any touchdowns, and compounded the problem with three interceptions. Utah State held Rypien without a touchdown for the first time, and this was also the first time he had thrown more than one interception. Boise State will now take on Wyoming at home and then UNLV on the road
Brandon Burks RB, Troy (Senior)
18 carries, 83 yards, zero touchdowns, two catches, 26 yards, zero touchdowns vs. Idaho
Brandon Burks had trouble getting anything going against Idaho. The senior finished with a nice 4.6 yards per carry average, but most of it was due to a 51-yard run. Burks turned his 17 other carries for 32 yards or a 1.8 ypc. Burks usually has at least one big gainer each week. He had a 74-yard gallop last week and a 57-yard rush in week one. These runs make up for most of his tally of 488 yards and four touchdowns for the season. Troy will go on the road against New Mexico State next week then on to Appalachian State the following week.
Tajae Sharpe WR, Massachusettes (Senior)
Seven catches, 46 yards, zero touchdowns vs. Kent State
Kent State made sure that Tajae Sharpe was not going to beat them. Sharpe had his worst game of the season, catching seven passes for just 46 yards and no touchdowns. He has been averaging just over 11 receptions per game, and until last week he had scored in two straight games. Sharpe has also been averaging over 11.4 yards per reception, but that fell to 6.6 against the Golden Flashes. The Minutemen will take on No. 19 Toledo and then on the road against Ball State.
Freshman Spotlight
Kilton Anderson QB, Fresno State
19/31 passing, 193 yards, zero touchdowns, zero interceptions, 11 carries, 78 yards, two touchdowns vs. UNLV
After being forced into action last week, the freshman was much better prepared, and it showed against UNLV. He completed over half his passes (61.3 percent) and used his mobility to rush for 78 yards and two scores. His leadership also allowed the Bulldogs to win their first game since week one. It wasn’t easy to break the losing habit either. Fresno State had to overcome two missed field goals, a fumble, an interception, and a 28-14 third-quarter deficit. Maze Waller rushed for a 38-yard touchdown with 2:37 to take the lead and eventually win. A Kilton Anderson 12-yard touchdown run pulled the Bulldogs within five.
