With college football in full swing, we’ll be bringing you a review each and every week. These recaps will feature sections for “Premier Conference Performer,” “Rising Players,” “Falling Players,” and a special Freshman spotlight. These weekly reviews will keep you up-to-date on all the happenings in devy leagues and allow you to keep tabs on future dynasty league assets. By the time the NFL Draft rolls around, you won’t see too many strangers.

SEC

Premier Conference Performer

Derrick Henry, RB Alabama (Junior)

32 carries, 236 yards, two touchdowns vs. Texas A&M

Henry rolled to a career high in rush yardage as the Tide dominated. Henry is one of the top draft-eligible runners for the 2016 class.

Rising Players

Ricky Seals-Jones, WR Texas A&M (Sophomore)

Six catches, 107 yards, one touchdown vs. Alabama

Seales-Jones has been MIA for a good portion of the season, so this outburst is a bit of a surprise. A big-bodied receiver with plenty of talent, this is hopefully a sign of a turnaround.

Laquon Treadwell, WR Ole Miss (Junior)

14 catches, 144 yards, one touchdown, 1/1, 68 yards, one touchdown vs. Memphis

The Rebels might have lost the game, but that was not the fault of Treadwell. He single-handedly gave his team a fighting chance, but couldn’t find anyone to help him.

Pharoh Cooper, WR South Carolina (Junior)

Seven catches, 160 yards, one touchdown vs. Vanderbilt

Cooper is a dynamic playmaker and the unquestioned best receiver for the Game Cocks. They’ll need his steadying presence as the team goes through a coaching change.

Malachi Dupre, WR LSU (Sophomore)

Four catches, 115 yards, two touchdowns vs. Florida

It’s no secret that the Tigers are a run-first team, but if Dupre can stretch the field vertically, that will make them a very dangerous team in the back half of the season.

Leonard Fournette, RB LSU (Sophomore)

31 carries, 180 yards, two touchdowns

There isn’t much Fournette can’t do and honestly I’m running out of fresh positives to write about him every week.

Falling Players

Chad Kelly, QB Ole Miss (Junior)

33/47 372 yards, two touchdown, two interceptions, eight carries, -2 yards vs. Memphis

Kelly put up a lot of passess but was out-classed at quarterback by up-and-comer Paxton Lynch. The two picks didn’t help his cause either.

Kelvin Taylor, RB Florida (Junior)

15 carries, 25 yards, one touchdown, two catches, 15 yards vs. LSU

The Gators were already missing their starting quarterback in Will Grier, so one would have assumed they needed a good effort from the ground game. Taylor did not provide that and Florida dropped a one-score affair.

Kyle Allen, QB Texas A&M (Sophomore)

20/40 263 yards, one touchdown, three interceptions, eight carries, -19 yards vs. Alabama

Allen had a rough day at the office facing one of the best defenses in the country. He has had a good season up to this point, so I would mark this down as a one-game aberration.

Freshman Spotlight

Malik Dear, WR Mississippi State

Six catches, 70 yards vs. Louisiana Tech

Dear had his best game of the season, including a 27-yard reception, which was also a career long.

Big 12

Premier Conference Performer

Baker Mayfield, QB Oklahoma (Junior)

20/27 282 yards, five touchdowns, nine carries, 33 yards vs. Kansas State

Mayfield was firing on all cylinders Saturday, having perhaps his best game of the season. If the Sooners want to get back into the Big 12 race, they will need Mayfield to keep playing like this.

Rising Players

Corey Coleman, WR Baylor (Junior)

10 catches, 199 yards, three touchdowns vs. West Virginia

Coleman is one of the best wideouts in the country and he came up large in a game that featured 100 total points. He’ll be an early-round selection during the NFL Draft.

Josh Doctson, WR TCU (Junior)

10 catches, 190 yards, two touchdowns vs. Iowa State

Take what I said about Coleman and paste it in down here, with the exception of a weaker opponent.

Seth Russell, QB Baylor (Junior)

20/33 380 yards, five touchdowns, 14 carries, 160 yards, one touchdowns vs. West Virginia

If Coleman had a big day, odds are good Russell did too. The system sets him up for success, but Russell has been capitalizing all year.

Falling Players

Joe Hubener, QB Kansas State (Junior)

4/14 39 yards, two interceptions, nine carries, 16 yards vs. Oklahoma

We’ll call that day…unsuccessful. Less than 33 percent passing, less than 40 yards and two picks is not going to get it done. The Wildcats have lost three in a row so Hubener needs to step up his game.

Skyler Howard, QB West Virginia (Junior)

18/37 289 yards, four touchdowns, one interception, 14 carries, 41 yards vs. Baylor

It’s not that he had a bad day, Howard simply didn’t match the eye-popping numbers of his counterpart. He’ll have to bounce back next week if they want to beat TCU.

Aaron Green, RB TCU (senior)

12 carries, seven yards vs. Iowa State

Green usually brings the ground balance to the TCU offense. This was just an off day, still the low output is a tad concerning.

Freshman Spotlight

Mike Warren, RB Iowa State (Freshman)

22 carries, 78 yards, one touchdown vs. TCU

Not bad day, but the Cyclones needed him to have a better day to control the clock and keep the powerful Horned Frogs offense off the field. He still has had a good overall season in Ames.
