Hello again, fellow rookie draft fans! As I continue doing at least two 2015 rookie mock drafts per month, I decided to switch it up for December and acquiesce to the demand from readers. I kid, I didn’t do it reluctantly, I rather enjoyed it as most of my leagues are now superflex.

Here is the ADP chart for the two mock drafts we did in December. Below it I will go into a few things I have found interesting over the course of these mocks and it’s resulting average draft positions. I started and finished these mocks in the same time span at the beginning of December. One mock was entirely composed of analysts from various sites in the fantasy football industry. The second mock was comprised of dynasty rookie draft enthusiasts from the DLF reader community and twitter.

I’ll make a few notes on the December 2QB mocks.

The Big Four is a Big Six

In the previous five November mocks, a big four had emerged. Amari Cooper, Davante Parker, Melvin Gordon, and Todd Gurley had all become a consensus tier at the top. In these 2QB mocks, Marcus Mariota become the clear top pick among our drafters with Jameis Winston grabbing a spot in the middle of the five players I just listed.

Twelve Quarterbacks in Four Rounds

Twelve quarterbacks were deemed worthy of being drafted in these drafts. In the other rookie mocks, you saw at most three or four get drafted. The top four remain intact: Mariota, Winston, Bryce Petty and Brett Hundley. Connor Cook, the fifth quarterback drafted based on ADP, has since decided to return to school. It remains to be seen if this will bring a new quarterback into the fold or if the draft-worthy quarterback list merely shrunk.

Wide Receivers on the Rise

Wide Receivers continue to rise in relation to previous mocks. Dorial Green-Beckham begins to look more likely to enter the draft and drafters begin feeling more comfortable and excited about his potential as a true top wide receiver on an NFL team. He has moved ahead of Devin Funchess in each of the last two mocks. Kevin White, Jaelen Strong and Duke Williams land as first round picks, even a 2QB draft.

Devin Funchess Continues His Slide

Devin Funchess continues his slide from a lock as a top four pick to the fifth non-quarterback to now the sixth non-quarterback. He’s looking more and more like a poor man’s Kelvin Benjamin with similar upside. He is very inconsistent and has drop issues. The rise of other wide receivers might be causing his fall. Drafters feel they can get a good wide receiver option in the second round and are deciding to grab a safer top option in the first. It should still be noted he has great upside, especially if he lands in a great spot. He’s sliding, but it’s mere picks…not rounds.

It’s a Great Year to be Set at Quarterback and Tight End

The one thing that has always been true of 2QB leagues is that it pushes down talented players at other positions. Although 2015 has a dearth of good fantasy tight ends, it makes up for it with a surplus of running backs and wide receivers. It’s likely that only a few of the quarterbacks in this draft will amount to much in fantasy, however over ten are likely to be drafted. Last year had similar wide receiver talent (yes, a bit more) but nowhere near the talent at running back. There are at least five to seven running backs this year that I would consider better talents than Bishop Sankey who was taken as the top running back in many drafts. There will be some players with nice potential in the third and fourth rounds of your draft if you can avoid the quarterback pitfall this year. As for tight end, there are a couple with some potential but drafting none isn’t likely to hurt you.

If you would like to participate in any upcoming 2015 Rookie Mocks, please let me know and I will put you on the list and get you in one when I can. If you have interest in a specific type of mock, like two quarterback or Superflex, let me know as I will also try to make one of those happen.
