Editor’s Note: This article is part of our Daily Content section in DLF. Daily leagues are growing in the fantasy community and we’ll cover them throughout the regular season. Remember,  you can get a DLF Premium account free for year (or your current subscription extended for a year) just by signing up with FanDuel and making an initial deposit. For more information on that special offer, click here.

Each edition of this series will highlight a different daily fantasy football site. Towards the end of the season, we will do more of a comparative analysis between the sites, giving a comprehensive overview of the daily fantasy football landscape.   For starters, though, we will focus on each highlighted site individually and give general impressions in order to give the reader an idea of exactly what the site has to offer.

First Impressions: This definitely is not your average daily site. It looks more like a casino game than a daily fantasy sports site, and that isn’t really a negative. Fantasy Spin is owned by Draft Kings and it’s easy to tell thanks to all of the banners.

Mobile Options: I did not find an option in the iOS store, but the mobile site works just fine.

Types of Contests

[inlinead]There is only one contest type available and it reminds me more of playing a slot machine than setting a lineup. Here you get fives randomized spins for each positional group to determine your lineup. If you like a combination of players before using your fifth spin, you just “lock in” those players. It seems odd at first, but you are playing a free game for opportunities for free buy-ins to high stakes games on Draft Kings. You can’t really get upset about free high stakes opportunities.

Lineup Format: QB -QB-QB-RB-RB-RB-WR-WR-WR -TE-TE-TE -K-K-K-DEF-DEF-DEF

Yes, you are seeing that correctly. You start three players from each positional group. All of these are determined by your spins.

Scoring Format: Passing touchdowns = 4 points, all other touchdowns = six points, one point per 10 yards rushing/receiving and per 20 yards passing, interceptions thrown = -1 points

This is one of the more original scoring systems that I’ve found on a daily site. There are no points awarded for receptions and 20 yards, not 25, scores you a point for passing yardage.

Creating Lineups: This is easily the oddest way I’ve ever created a lineup, but it really is fun. It is 100% luck based, and that usually isn’t something I like, but I’m ended up satisfied with how the site works. It’s a fun way to pass a few minutes, and the opportunity to get free entries into high stakes games makes it worth the time. To make things even better, you get to create a maximum of three lineups each week, so you have even more free opportunities for prizes.

Summary: This type of game usually isn’t my cup’o’tea. I like having some control over my odds to win a contest, but this is a perfect storm for not caring about that: free, fun, great prizes and fast. I highly recommend Fantasy Spin for any Draft Kings player. For those that don’t play on DK, Fantasy Spin gives a 100% initial deposit bonus up to $600 to players that sing up for DK through Fantasy Spin. It’s like getting free money for doing something for free.
