The Dynasty Aftermath: Week Fifteen

Welcome to DLF’s Dynasty Aftermath. This Tuesday staple is our longest running signature piece as we have a little fun after a tough week at the Dynasty League Football office. You’ll find this article will review the week’s happenings in a variety of ways and help set you up for the coming weeks as we spin around the league in the way we know best. Most leagues are in the middle of playoff season and we had some performances that undoubtedly single-handedly won or lost games for people this week.

Let’s take a look back at the week that was!

Week Fifteen Fantasy MVP

It seems like it was only a matter of time before Odell Beckham, Jr. would be honored in this column as a weekly MVP. Beckham has been downright scary this year and Sunday was no different as he posted a ridiculous 12 catches for 143 yards and three touchdowns in a win against the Redskins.

The 2014 Rookie and Free agent draft looks destined to be one of the best ever and Beckham has a legitimate chance to be the best fantasy player from the entire group. No, it’s not time to anoint him and say it was a mistake to take players like Sammy Watkins, Mike Evans or even Brandin Cooks ahead of him, but that just illustrates the amazing depth and top-end talent we’re seeing from this group.

Put it this way – if you’re playing in a championship game this week, I could only count the players I’d rather not see on my opponent’s roster more than Beckham on one hand.

Week Fifteen Fantasy LVP

Tre Mason is another rookie who has had an amazing season, but this week was one to forget as he posted just 33 yards on 13 carries for the Rams against the Cardinals. Mason couldn’t get anything going and even lost a fumble in this one. In fact, he also lost a goal line carry to Benny Cunningham late in the game. All in all, this was an epic disaster and even though the Cardinals have a stout run defense, this line was simply inexcusable.

Lineup Fun

The unbeatable lineup of the week…

QB  Drew Brees NO = 375 passing yards, three touchdowns
RB Le’Veon Bell PIT = 47 rushing yards, five catches, 72 receiving yards, two touchdowns
RB Jeremy Hill CIN = 148 rushing yards, one catch, four receiving yards, two touchdowns
RB DeMarco Murray DAL = 81 rushing yards, one catch, three receiving yards, two touchdowns
WR Odell Beckham, Jr. NYG = 12 catches, 143 receiving yards, three touchdowns
WR Dez Bryant DAL = Six catches, 114 receiving yards, three touchdowns
WR Demaryius Thomas DEN = Six catches, 123 receiving yards, one touchdown
TE Greg Olsen CAR = Ten catches, 110 receiving yards

The dominant underdog lineup of the week…

QB Derek Anderson CAR 277 passing yards, one touchdown, 14 rushing yards
RB Matt Asiata MIN =
36 rushing yards, seven catches, 50 receiving yards, one touchdown
RB Knile Davis KC = 11 rushing yards, one catch, 70 receiving yards, two touchdowns
RB Chris Polk PHI =
six rushing yards, two touchdowns

Ten catches, 131 receiving yards
WR Nate Washington TEN =
Six catches, 102 receiving yards
WR Jerricho Cotchery CAR =
Five catches, 47 receiving yards, one touchdown
TE Josh Hill NO =
Two catches, 15 receiving yards, two touchdowns

The unexpectedly horrible lineup of the week…

Gut Checks

I’d be worried if I owned Ben Tate. A new opportunity just brought more disappointment.

I’d be worried if I owned Jay Cutler. I cannot remember a player who seemed so content with a horrible situation.

I’d be worried if I didn’t think Jarvis Landry was going to be a great PPR player.

I’d be worried if I was hoping for monster production from Josh Gordon at the moment.

I’d be worried if I owned Johnny Manziel. That was a pretty epic performance…and not in a good way.

I’d be worried if I was still holding on to Darren McFadden.

I’d be worried if I had Gio Bernard as my RB1. Yeah, this Hill fella looks pretty good.

I’d be worried if I was relying on any player from the 49ers. Cart. Wheels. Off.

I’d be worried if I owned Ryan Mathews. Another lost season.

I’d be worried if I owned Cordarrelle Patterson. Wow. Just wow.

I’d be worried if I thought this whole Cleveland running back situation was settled.

I’d be worried if I didn’t think Harry Douglas was a must start whenever Roddy White or Julio Jones are out.

I’d be worried if I thought Doug Martin was back.

I’d be worried if I was holding on to Zac Stacy or Denarius Moore.

I’d be worried if I was relying on Texans players this week. The quarterback situation is now dire.

I’d be worried if I thought Aaron Rodgers would lay another egg like that in the next few years.

I’d be worried if I was still thinking Jake Locker could turn the corner.

I’d be worried if I owned Rashad Jennings. It just seems to be spiraling a bit.

I’d be worried if I was playing against Odell Beckham, Jr. during championship week.

I’d be worried if I owned Keenan Allen. Yes, he’s dinged up. However, this has been a brutal season.

I’d be worried if I started to overthink my lineup decisions this week. It’s easy to get cute with your choices and start making bad calls during championship week. Don’t lose your league title because you didn’t play the players who got you there in the first place.

A Look Ahead to Hot Names on the Week Sixteen Waiver Wire
Remember, we focus on the lesser names here who we haven’t mentioned much this season.

1. Joseph Randle, RB DAL

If Randle is somehow available, he’s a must add in case DeMarco Murray is unable to play.

2. Alfonso Smith, RB SF

You’d have to be in a pretty bad spot to start Smith even if Frank Gore and Carlos Hyde are sidelined. Regardless, it’s a situation to monitor.

Previous suggestions: Justin Forsett, Lorenzo Taliaferro, Bobby Rainey, Anthony Dixon, Case Keenum, Alfred Blue, Knile Davis, Donald Brown, Khiry Robinson, Kirk Cousins, Jarvis Landry, Aaron Dobson, Niles Paul, Damien Williams, Austin Davis, Zach Mettenberger, Joe Banyard, Silas Redd, DeAndre Levy, Mike Glennon, Joe McKnight, Philly Brown, Rhett Ellison, Jerick McKinnon, Darrin Reaves, Branden Oliver, Jarius Wright, Louis Murphy, Kyle Orton, Juwan Thompson, Tim Wright, George Winn, Robert Herron, Adam Thielen, James White, Chris Hogan, Preston Parker, Jonas Gray, Colt McCoy, Bryce Brown, Marion Grice, Ryan Mallett, Charles Sims, Brandon Weeden, Kamar Aiken, Michael Vick, Dan “Boom” Herron, Mark Sanchez, Chase Ford, Matt Simms, Ryan Williams, Logan Thomas, Drew Stanton, Josh McCown, Kapri Bibbs, Marcedes Lewis, Antonio Andrews, Duron Carter, Charles Johnson, Glenn Winston, Tom Savage, Zurlon Tipton, Jeremy Stewart, Michael Bush, Kerwynn Williams.
