Editor’s Note: This article is part of our Daily Content section in DLF. Daily leagues are growing in the fantasy community and we’ll cover them throughout the regular season. Remember,  you can get a DLF Premium account free for year (or your current subscription extended for a year) just by signing up with FanDuel and making an initial deposit. For more information on that special offer, click here.

Each edition of this series will highlight a different daily fantasy football site. Towards the end of the season, we will do more of a comparative analysis between the sites, giving a comprehensive overview of the daily fantasy football landscape.   For starters, though, we will focus on each highlighted site individually and give general impressions in order to give the reader an idea of exactly what the site has to offer.

Website and URL: StatKings, https://statkings.com/

First Impressions: This site has some flash to it, but it isn’t distracting. Everything is laid out very well, with easy to navigate menus. Icons indicating different prize formats are bold and stand out on the page.

Mobile Options: This is one of the easiest daily sites I’ve used on mobile. Everything is fully functional and as easy to use on the desktop site.

Types of Contests

  • GPP – There are two types of guaranteed prize pool games available. There is the standard with salary cap option and one that does not use the cap.
  • Head-to-Head – These matchups pit you against one other drafter with buy-ins ranging from $5 to $100.
  • League Play – In this format you are playing against multiple opponents in a game where the winner takes all. Buy-ins range from $10 to $50.

Lineup Format

QB-RB-RB-WR-WR-WR-TE-FLEX-K-DEF

I like the expanded lineups on this site. Having three wide receiver positions in addition to a flex spot allows for a high amount of variance in lineup composition.

Scoring Format

  • .5 PPR, passing touchdowns = 4 points
  • All other touchdowns = six points
  • One point per 10 yards rushing/receiving and per 25 yards passing
  • Interceptions thrown = -1 point
  • Fumbles lost = – 1 points

StatKings uses a standard half PPR scoring system. I like that interceptions and fumbles are scored the same. Some sites make one or the other cost a player twice as much, but I don’t feel like that is very balanced.

Creating Lineups

It was incredibly easy to put lineups together. The drafting process is smooth and easy to navigate. Salaries are competitive enough to force users to have a strict budget, but aren’t so stringent that you have to punt positions.

One of my favorite things about StatKings is their use of “crowns.” When you sign up they give you ten of these, which are basically free entries into paid leagues. It’s a great way to get your feet wet and learn the system. You also get more crowns with qualifying deposits.

Overall, StatKings is a site I’m going to continue to use. They are incredibly new, having only launched on August 14th, but they have a system that works well and rewards new players. Since they are so young there are going to be growing pains, such as live scoring not working as I write this on Thanksgiving, but they are worth working through.

This is a site I highly recommend.
