As the season move on, some of us miss the best part of our fantasy football season – the draft. Well, thanks to daily fantasy football leagues, we are able to draft a team every week and test ourselves against thousands of other players. The drafts take minutes, the lineups are easy, and the prizes can be huge. Here at DLF, we will share with you some of the best free tournaments that have amazing prizes to the winner.

For those of you looking for advice on daily leagues, including those highlighted here, I urge you to check out the weekly series “Daily League Bargains” on DLF. It is a great resource for those of you looking for some sneaky additions to your daily lineups.

I will also choose one each week to participate in and share my experiences and urge each of you to do the same. Also, share any freeroll contests we may have missed!

I was out on my honeymoon last week so I was unable to pen an article but I did get back just in time to set a few daily lineups. This one is from Draftster where I ended up in 16th out of nearly 900 entrants:

  • freeroll1Elite matchups – Looking to the Atlanta matchup for Kelvin Benjamin helped in terms of soft coverage and a lot of garbage time performance.
  • Elite QBs – I always struggle with elite QB prices but Aaron Rodgers had the matchup and the streak of hot play that made it irresistible.
  • Bouncebacks – I have spoken about the injury bounceback price a lot but there can be a slump discount as well. Michael Floyd could have done more but a second half disappearing act kept me from getting even more money in this one.

Now, on to the freerolls for this week and a preview of my team that I will be “rolling” with in week twelve.

FanDuel.com – $1,000 NFL Freeroll

The trend has continued so expect another freeroll to release on Friday. Overall, the contests have been very competitive (50,000 entry limit) with payouts to the top 450 lineups. It’s a good way to get into the site and understand the scoring.

Victiv.com – $350 NFL Freeroll

There is a freeroll contest on Victiv this week that has a $350 payout. They also do a second that starts with Thursday’s game so if you jump on that early enough, you can participate. They penalize less for negative plays (-1) like interceptions and fumbles so less worry about that here. Also, they have two flex spots they use but only a 0.5 PPR format so runners have a little more incentive.

Draftster.com – $500 NFL Freeroll

This week, Draftster has a $500 freeroll. The rules give some nice bonuses for 100 yard rushing/receiving and 300 yard passing games (+3) and have full PPR so you can pick players a bit less touchdown dependent here. It is open to the first 1,200 entries and pays out the top 468 players. There is an additional $100 freeroll that started with Thursday’s game so look out for that on a weekly basis.

Draftkings.com – $10 NFL Freerolls

Draftkings has a few $10 freerolls for the NFL in addition to several more for college football. They are broken up based on game start times so each set of games has a different incentive for you to watch.

freeroll2FantasyAces.com – $100 NFL Freeroll

Their $100 freeroll is back with a small $10 freeroll that includes Thursday’s game. What is interesting about this contest is that it is a soft salary cap that penalizes if you go over and gives you extra points if you stay under. Opens up to a lot of interesting strategies.

This will be the freeroll I participate in this weekend. I’m playing matchups at quarterback to fit in other skill players. I loaded up on running back at the flex given the 0.5 PPR scoring. Let’s see how this one goes!

Draftday.com – Various

Draftday still has a couple of freerolls but have reduced the overall count to add more to other sports. The $1M perfect lineup contest continues as I have to assume there has been no winner yet. The entries are infinite so go nuts! There is also the 300 point target game where you are trying to get over the threshold. The pot is up to $1,000 which is the highest this year. Now might be a good time to give it a shot.

Sportstradex.com – Variety

Sportstradex once again has a few “winner take all” NFL freerolls. They vary from the standard salary cap contest to the pick ‘em contests. They have also been some subtle changes to the website including improved filters so that is nice as well.

Statclash.com – $20 NFL Freeroll

Statclash tends to prefer smaller freeroll contests both in terms of prize money and entrant size. This week remains consistent as the smaller prize is limited to the first 250 entries. They are a DFS site that covers a lot of different sports so the diversity is nice if you are a fan of the English Premier League (the other football).

Fantasyscore.com

There are no freerolls on fantasyscore.com this week, but they have a variety of smaller free entry leagues. The addition of some nice filters and other interface changes is making this one of the smoother sites around. There is a lot of cool features being added so even if you don’t play in a contest, check out the website.

Scorestreak.com – $180 NFL Freeroll

Scorestreak continues their year-long promotion of winning a Tesla but they continue their weekly freeroll as well. The $180 freeroll is unlimited entries with the top 100 being paid out. The game is a little quirky as you pick nine players to hit key thresholds and get points for each one you attain.

Next week, we will highlight some of the freerolls for week 13 of the season and I will provide a recap of my performance as well!
