Editor’s Note: This article is part of our new Daily Content section in DLF. Daily leagues are growing in the fantasy community and we’ll cover them throughout the regular season. Remember, you can get a DLF Premium account free for a year (or your current subscription extended for a year) just by signing up with FanDuel and making an initial deposit. As the season approaches, some of us lose the best part of our fantasy football season: the draft. Well, thanks to daily fantasy football leagues, we are able to draft a team every week and test ourselves against thousands of other players. The drafts take minutes, the lineups are easy, and the prizes can be huge. Here at DLF, we will share with you some of the best free tournaments that have amazing prizes to the winner.

For those of you looking for advice on daily leagues, including those highlighted here, I urge you to check out the weekly series “Daily League Bargains” on DLF. It is a great resource for those of you looking for some sneaky additions to your daily lineups.

I will also choose one each week to participate in and share my experiences and urge each of you to do the same. Also, share any freeroll contests we may have missed!

This past week, I participated in the Victiv freeroll. I did ok here but ultimately fell short of the money. Here are a few takeaways I had from week nine and my strategy:
folesfreeroll

  • Bad Luck – Nick Foles was on his way to a phenomenal day (first game over nine yards per attempt in 2014) before breaking his collarbone. If he ended up with Mark Sanchez’s numbers on top of his, I would have finished well within the money.
  • Avoid the timeshare – The only running back I missed on was Ben Tate. With the Browns not even sure who they should give snaps to, why should I gamble on this ever getting figured out regardless of price?
  • Number two WRs can produce – Some DFS players like to focus on one WR offenses (think pre-injury AJ Green). However, the day of the spread it out offense is here and matchups become more important on determining the pecking order.

Now, on to the freerolls for this week and a preview of my team that I will be “rolling” with in week ten.

FanDuel.com – $1,000 NFL Freeroll

The trend has continued so expect another freeroll to release on Friday. Overall, the contests have been very competitive (50,000 entry limit) with payouts to the top 450 lineups. It’s a good way to get into the site and understand the scoring.

Victiv.com – $350 NFL Freeroll

There is a freeroll contest on Victiv this week that has a $350 payout. They also do a second that starts with Thursday’s game so if you jump on that early enough, you can participate. They penalize less for negative plays (-1) like interceptions and fumbles so less worry about that here. Also, they have two flex spots they use but only a 0.5 PPR format so runners have a little more incentive.

Draftster.com – $500 NFL Freerolls

This week, Draftster has a $500 freeroll. The rules give some nice bonuses for 100 yard rushing/receiving and 300 yard passing games (+3) and have full PPR so you can pick players a bit less touchdown dependent here. It is open to the first 1,200 entries and pays out the top 468 players. There was an additional $150 freeroll that started with Thursday’s game so look out for that on a weekly basis.

This will be my freeroll of the week. My lineup is listed below and is intended to go after the full PPR rule. My running backs are cheap options that can catch the ball playing defenses that do not defend the passes out of the backfield well. Went big on wide receiver with a gamble on Calvin Johnson returning against a strong pass defense, but I have a feeling the second half is the Megatron show.

Draftkings.com – $10 NFL Freerolls

Draftkings has a few $10 freerolls for the NFL in addition to several more for college football. They are broken up based on game start times so each set of games has a different incentive for you to watch.

FantasyAces.com

Looks like this week, there is no NFL freeroll. It may change so keep an eye on it but there are several other sports, including college football, that do have freeroll options available.

Draftday.com – Various

[inlinead]Draftday continues with their variety of freeroll options. They have a $100 freeroll that is open to the first 3,000 entrants. This is a standard type of contest if you prefer tap water over Perrier. If you’re feeling really lucky, they are hosting a $1M perfect lineup contest that sounds exactly like what it is. The entries are limitless so go nuts. There is also a $700 “Target” contest where you are trying to score more than 300 points for the week. The prize is split amongst all winners that accomplish the feat. Lastly, there is a $100 pick ‘em contest that is open to the first 1,500 entries.

Sportstradex.com – Variety

Sportstradex once again has a few “winner take all” NFL freerolls. They vary from the standard salary cap contest to the pick ‘em contests. They have also been some subtle changes to the website including improved filters so that is nice as well.

Statclash.com – $20 NFL Freeroll

Statclash tends to prefer smaller freeroll contests both in terms of prize money and entrant size. This week remains consistent as the smaller prize is limited to the first 250 entries. Curl up and get a nice glass of Pinot Noir, get intimate with this freeroll.

Fantasyscore.com

There are no freerolls on fantasyscore.com this week but they have a variety of smaller free entry leagues. The addition of some nice filters and other interface changes is making this one of the smoother sites around. Now, they just have to read my article and add some freerolls!

Scorestreak.com – $180 NFL Freeroll

Scorestreak continues their year-long promotion of winning a Tesla but they continue their weekly freeroll as well. The $180 freeroll is unlimited entries with the top 100 being paid out. The game is a little quirky as you pick nine players to hit key thresholds and get points for each one you attain.

Next week, we will highlight some of the freerolls for week 11 of the season and I will provide a recap of my performance as well!
