The Dynasty Aftermath: Week Six

Welcome to DLF’s Dynasty Aftermath. This Tuesday staple is our longest running signature piece as we have a little fun after a tough week at the Dynasty League Football office. You’ll find this article will review the week’s happenings in a variety of ways and help set you up for the coming weeks as we spin around the league in the way we know best. Let’s take a look back at the week that was!

Week Six Fantasy MVP

We didn’t have to wait long for our hero this week as T.Y. Hilton lit up the Texans to the tune of nine catches, 223 receiving yards and a touchdown last Thursday night. Hilton was spectacular and could have actually had a bigger game, believe it or not. There’s been an official changing of the guard in Indianapolis and Hilton has now officially replaced Reggie Wayne as Andrew Luck’s primary receiving option – this game just officially served notice in case you weren’t a believer quite yet. Hilton is going to be a prime option in dynasty leagues for years to come.

Week Six Fantasy LVP

A week after breaking out for 105 yards and two touchdowns against Minnesota, Eddie Lacy came crashing back to earth and posted just 40 yards on 14 carries against Miami. To make matters worse, he failed to catch a pass. James Starks continues to get equal playing time and has turned the Green Bay backfield into a true committee. This unforeseen development this season is an incredible disappointment to those who hung their hat on Lacy becoming and elite RB1 as soon as this season. It’s not time to panic, but things haven’t played out as planned for certain.

Lineup Fun

The unbeatable lineup of the week…

QB  Joe Flacco BAL = 306 passing yards, five touchdowns
RB Matt Forte CHI = 80 rushing yards, ten catches, 77 receiving yards, two touchdowns
RB Arian Foster HOU = 109 rushing yards, three catches, 32 receiving yards, two touchdowns
RB DeMarco Murray DAL = 115 rushing yards, six catches, 31 receiving yards, one touchdown
WR T.Y. Hilton IND = Nine catches, 223 receiving yards, one touchdown
WR Demaryius Thomas DEN = Ten catches, 124 receiving yards, one touchdown
WR Mohamed Sanu CIN = Ten catches, 120 receiving yards, one touchdown
TE Julius Thomas DEN = Four catches, 51 receiving yards, two touchdowns

The dominant underdog lineup of the week…

QB Derek Carr OAK  = 282 passing yards, four touchdowns, one interception
RB Branden Oliver SD
= 101 rushing yards, four catches, 23 receiving yards, one touchdown
RB Theo Riddick DET = Six rushing yards, five catches, 75 receiving yards, one touchdown
RB Antone Smith ATL =
Five rushing yards, four catches, 64 receiving yards, one touchdown
WR Andre Holmes OAK
= Four catches, 121 receiving yards, two touchdowns
WR Brandon LaFell NE
= Four catches, 97 receiving yards, two touchdowns
WR Robert Woods BUF
= Seven catches, 78 receiving yards, one touchdown
TE Jace Amaro NYJ
= Ten catches, 68 receiving yards, one touchdown

The unexpectedly horrible lineup of the week…

QB Eli Manning NYG  = 151 passing yards
RB CJ Spiller BUF = 19 rushing yards, no catches
RB Shane Vereen NE = Four rushing yards, one catch, three receiving yards
RB Knowshon Moreno MIA = Ten rushing yards, one catch, eight receiving yards
WR Kendall Wright TEN = One catch, six receiving yards
WR DeAndre Hopkins HOU = One catch, 12 receiving yards
WR Wes Welker DEN = One catch, eight receiving yards
TE Larry Donnell NYG = One catch, six receiving yards

Greg’s Gut Checks (this week’s super-sized Gut Checks are sponsored by Greg, who said last week he wanted more)

I’d be worried if…

I’d be worried if I thought I was going to get production from Richard Rodgers any time soon.

I’d be worried if I owned Eddie Lacy. As stated above, it’s time to worry, but not panic. Still, this just continues to surprise.

I’d be worried if I expected anything from Santonio Holmes.

I’d be worried if I owned Donald Brown or Ryan Mathews.  Uhh, this Branden Oliver kid isn’t going anywhere, gang.

I’d be worried if I expected consistency from Brian Hartline.

I’d be worried if I didn’t sell Matt Asiata when I could have.

I’d be worried if I owned Roddy White. Boy, it looks like he got old overnight.

I’d be worried if I was counting on Percy Harvin. Explosive, yes. Consistent touches? No.

I’d be worried if was clinging to hope with aging running backs like Steven Jackson or Maurice Jones-Drew. It’s sad, but it’s also likely over.

I’d be worried if I owned Pierre Garcon. A year after leading the world in catches, he’s on a milk carton somewhere in the Washington locker room.

I’d be worried if I owned Hakeem Nicks. See running backs, old, above.

I’d be worried if I had Stevan Ridley. In a year where he needed to really show something, he’s now lost for the season with a torn ACL. As an impending free agent, that just cost him a lot, including the likely chance of starting elsewhere.

I’d be worried if I paid too much for Lorenzo Taliaferro. He’s still a great stash, but Justin Forsett and Bernard Pierce seem to be ahead of him on the depth chart again.

I’d be worried if I expected consistency from Devin Hester.

I’d be worried if I owned Cordarrelle Patterson. His coach is now calling for him to get open?

I’d be worried if I owned Frank Gore. It really looks like the 49ers are trying to pass the torch to Carlos Hyde.

I’d be worried if I bought too much Zac Stacy stock. The Rams are truly spreading around the carries and Stacy is falling down the dynasty chart quickly.

I’d be worried if I was counting on any running back from the Jets. Yuck.

I’d be worried if I owned Charles Clay. After a magical season, he’s posted just 17 catches for 146 receiving yards and no scores so far this year.

I’d be worried if I had Victor Cruz on my roster. Another unfortunate injury and one that was simply gut wrenching to watch. It’s going to be a long road back for Cruz.

I’d be worried if I owned Shane Vereen and thought he was going to be a RB1 all of a sudden. He has a great chance with Ridley out, but don’t think you’ve solved this backfield.

I’d be worried if had Keenan Allen. With Rivers having such a great season, how has Allen suddenly become the forgotten man?

I’d be worried if I was counting on Johnny Manziel playing any time soon.

I’d be worried if I still had Shonn Greene on my roster.

I’d be worried if I was holding out hope for Mike Williams. Boy, this is looking like a career nosedive.

I’d be worried if I owned Calvin Johnson. Again, not panic here, but the injuries are starting to kind of add up.

I’d be worried if I didn’t buy on Jordan Cameron when I had the chance.

I’d be worried if I had Matt Stafford as my QB1. Much like Eddie Lacy, something just seems off at the moment.

I’d be worried if I was hoping Andrew Hawkins would emerge as a PPR slot machine. That seemed to fizzle quickly.

A Look Ahead to Hot Names on the Week Seven Waiver Wire
Remember, we focus on the lesser names here who we haven’t mentioned much this season.

1. James White, RB NE

With Stevan Ridley out for the season with a torn ACL, the Patriots will likely turn to Brandon Bolden (another obvious add this week) and Shane Vereen. However, James White was a favorite of the coaching staff this Summer and may get some time.

2. Preston Parker, WR NYG

Another injury, another opportunity.

3. Chris Hogan, WR BUF

This one is a little under the radar, but Hogan has been steadily gaining ground on the depth chart for the Bills. With Mike Williams on the trade block, Hogan could be primed for an even bigger role.

Previous suggestions (sponsored by Greg and Thomas, who wanted it again this week): Justin Forsett, Lorenzo Taliaferro, Bobby Rainey, Anthony Dixon, Case Keenum, Alfred Blue, Knile Davis, Donald Brown, Khiry Robinson, Kirk Cousins, Jarvis Landry, Aaron Dobson, Niles Paul, Damien Williams, Austin Davis, Zach Mettenberger, Joe Banyard, Silas Redd, DeAndre Levy, Mike Glennon, Joe McKnight, Philly Brown, Rhett Ellison, Jerick McKinnon, Darrin Reaves, Branden Oliver, Jarius Wright, Louis Murphy, Kyle Orton, Juwan Thompson, Tim Wright, George Winn, Robert Herron and Adam Thielen.
