If you’ve been using the suggestions found in this column each week over the first month of the season, you’ve likely had some success. Last week, Ben Roethlisberger and Tony Romo were mentioned among the quarterbacks and both delivered three touchdown passes. Also included a week ago was Lamar Miller, Steve Smith Sr. and Terrence Williams who scored twice each and Larry Donnell who found pay dirt three times. Ahmad Bradshaw, Bishop Sankey, Justin Forsett, Travis Kelce and Heath Miller were also featured and scored in week four and one of my favorite discounts of the week Keenan Allen, had a huge game but failed to find the end zone. All-in-all, it was a great week for bargains on FanDuel last week. I’m looking forward to spotlighting even more in week five.

Keep in mind these suggestions are made for GPP (Guaranteed Prize Pool) tournaments with more than 50 participants where players are looking for bargains to fill out their lineups after already inserting their “studs” for the week. They shouldn’t necessarily be considered in head to head or 50/50 games.

Quarterback

Jay Cutler, QB CHI

Despite averaging the fifth most points per game (20.3) among quarterbacks playing this week, Cutler ($7,700) carries just the 14th highest salary behind even Tom Brady and Colin Kaepernick. His price has dropped regardless of him averaging more than 250 yards passing per game and throwing at least two touchdowns in each of the first four weeks.

This week, Cutler and all of his offensive weapons travel to Carolina to take on the Panthers defense that has given up five touchdowns through the air over the last two weeks and eight overall. For those looking to move away from Drew Brees ($9,100) and Roethlisberger ($8,300) who will both be highly owned, Cutler is a high-end money saving option.

Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB HOU

I know what you’re thinking. Fitzpatrick? Really? But hear me out.

[inlinead]The Texans get Dallas at home this week. The Cowboys are giving up 271 yards per game through the air and have allowed eight touchdown passes. Fitzpatrick ($6,500) has thrown just five touchdowns, but he’s completing 65% of his passes this year, has two very good receivers in Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins and I’m just not a fan of the Cowboys’ pass defense.

It’s just a hunch, but I feel like Fitzpatrick has the potential to throw for 300-plus yards and a pair of scores and at his price as well as his low ownership percentages on FanDuel this weekend, he may give you just the advantage you’re looking for in GPP games. It’s certainly a risk to roster Fitzpatrick in week five, but it could pay off in spades.

Mike Glennon, QB TB

Tampa Bay travels to New Orleans on Sunday and the matchup features one of Vegas’ highest totals this week at 48.5. It also features the biggest point spread on the slate this week with the Saints being favored by double digits and that equals garbage time points for Glennon ($6,100).

Glennon looked good a week ago in his magical comeback against the Steelers, throwing for 302 yards and a pair of scores in his first start of the season. This week, he faces a Saints defense that is among the three worst in the league against the pass and given up eight passing touchdowns. The production may not come until the fourth quarter but garbage time counts too. Like Fitzpatrick, Glennon is a risk but may be well worth it.

Bottom of the Barrel Options: Austin Davis ($5,000) and Kyle Orton ($5,000)

Running Back

Rashad Jennings, RB NYG

Although his price isn’t necessarily low as he’s the 16th highest priced runner, Jennings ($7,200) is my favorite bargain of the week. He’s averaging more than 20 carries per game as well as 108 total yards from scrimmage and will face one of the worst run defenses in the league in week five.

Atlanta’s defense has given up more than 150 yards per game and nine rushing touchdowns and is coming off a game where they gave up 213 yards on 38 carries (5.6 YPC) and three touchdowns to Minnesota tailbacks. Jennings has received nearly 66% of the team’s carries so far this year, so he’s in line for 20-plus touches against the Falcons and is a good bet to find the end zone at least once.

Matt Asiata, RB MIN

This may be an obvious pick due to his three touchdown game against the aforementioned Falcons, but Asiata ($7,100) gets another tasty matchup in week five against Green Bay’s Swiss-cheese defense. The Packers are giving up a league worst 176 yards per game on the ground and look to be getting worse with every week that passes.

Some DFS players may lean towards his teammate Jerrick McKinnon ($5,800) because of the burst he showed last week against Atlanta, but it’s clear that Asiata is the Vikings’ preferred choice around the goal line and the more polished pass catcher, which could come in handy if they fall behind. He’ll be in line for at least 15 touches and should score again on Thursday night.

Ben Tate, RB CLE

I spent the entire off-season trying to acquire Tate ($6,200) in as many dynasty leagues as possible because I thought he was in store for a big role and some big numbers in the Browns’ run first offense. Before he could get going, he hurt his knee against Steelers on opening weekend.

The latest out of Cleveland says Tate will resume his role as the Browns’ lead runner and has been practicing this week. After watching Terrence West ($5,900) and Isaiah Crowell ($5,400) play well in his absence, he’ll be hungry to show what he can do against Tennessee’s weak run defense. I expect him to handle the rock at least 15 times on Sunday and average more than five yards per carry. I also expect him to score.

Other options: Justin Forsett ($6,000) Bobby Rainey ($5,800) and Jeremy Hill ($5,000)

Wide Receiver

Keenan Allen, WR SD

As I mentioned above, Allen ($7,000) was mentioned in this exact space a week ago and didn’t disappoint. He hauled in ten passes for 135 yards but failed to find the end zone against the Jaguars and gets the hapless Jets secondary that has already given up nine scores through the air so far this year.

Allen’s price is listed lower than that of teammate Eddie Royal ($7,300), but won’t be for long. He should build on his first good showing of the season a week ago with his second consecutive 100 yard game this weekend. Hopefully in week five, he finds the end zone as well.

Michael Floyd, WR ARI

Floyd ($6,400) has been up and down so far in 2013, catching just one pass for only 19 yards in week two sandwiched between 100-yard efforts in week one and three. My guess is that week two is the exception and not the rule with Floyd and he’ll have a big game in week five coming off the bye.

This week, he faces the Broncos in what is sure to be a shootout. The over/under is the highest of the week at 49 and daily players are going to want to get a piece of that action. If you’re unable to get Demaryius Thomas ($8,600), Emmanuel Sanders ($8,000) or Julius Thomas ($8,000) into your lineup, Floyd or teammate Larry Fitzgerald ($6,400) would be good fallback options – but are far more attractive if Carson Palmer is starting rather than Drew Stanton.

Brian Quick, WR STL

Although Quick ($6,000) is playing with a less than ideal quarterback situation, he’s been productive to this point as the Rams’ top receiver. He’s scored double digit fantasy points on FanDuel in each of his three games so far this year and gets to face the Eagles in week five coming off a bye. Philadelphia is giving up 187 yards per game to wide outs and has allowed three 100-yard games and five touchdowns to receivers in four games.

Quick is another risky play, but has big upside to get behind the Eagles’ mediocre secondary. He likely won’t be highly owned in tournaments this week and could give those looking for a boom-or-bust play at receiver exactly what they’re looking for.

Markus Wheaton, WR PIT

Wheaton ($5,300) is another of my favorite bargains going into week five. He’s being targeted regularly (6.25 per game) and is getting opportunities in the red zone. This week, he’s facing the Jags who just gave up five catches for 105 yards and two scores to fellow number two receiver Eddie Royal. The Jags’ defense is giving up a league worst 320 yards per game through the air and has allowed 11 touchdown passes, also the worst in the NFL. If you can’t get his teammate Antonio Brown into your lineup and are looking for a cheap WR3, Wheaton may be your guy.

Other Options: Wes Welker ($6,900), Andre Johnson ($6,700) and Kenny Stills ($4,600)

Tight End

Travis Kelce, TE KC

Kelce ($5,300) was also highlighted in this article a week ago and came through with flying colors, catching eight passes for 93 yards and a score on Monday night. He played half of the Chiefs’ offensive snaps for the first time this season against the Patriots and that number is sure to increase. At his low price, he’ll likely be highly owned, but it’s difficult to go any other direction if you’re looking for a discount at tight end.

Other options: Heath Miller ($5,900), Antonio Gates ($5,700)
