The Dynasty Aftermath: Week Thirteen

Welcome to DLF’s Dynasty Aftermath. This Tuesday staple is our longest running signature piece as we have a little fun after a tough week at the Dynasty League Football office. You’ll find this article will review the week’s happenings in a variety of ways and help set you up for the coming weeks as we spin around the league in the way we know best.

Let’s take a look back at the week that was!

Week Thirteen Fantasy MVP

I rarely choose co-MVPs because I usually feel like that’s a cop out and I’ve never picked three players to share the award. However, it just must be done as we had three receivers post incredible lines this week. Eric Decker (8/174/4), Alshon Jeffery (12/249/2) and Josh Gordon (10/261/2) combined for 30 catches, 684 yards and eight touchdowns yesterday. Jeffery and Gordon each set new records for most receiving yards in a game for their respective teams. When you consider the storied history of both franchises, those numbers are pretty amazing.  To me, there are three things you can take from this:

1.)    Alshon Jeffery has truly arrived and looks to be a WR1 in dynasty leagues for a long time.
2.)    If Josh Gordon can keep his head on straight, he can be a top three receiver in reality and fantasy.
3.)    If Peyton Manning comes out and says he wants to get someone more involved in the offense, get him in your lineup immediately.

Week Twelve Fantasy LVP

Jordy Nelson has been fairly quarterback proof in the wake of Aaron Rodgers’ injury, but even he couldn’t be successful with Matt Flynn during the “Thanksgiving Day Massacre” at the hands of the Lions. His two catches for 14 yards didn’t help fantasy owners this week.

Lineup Fun

The unbeatable lineup of the week…

QB Peyton Manning DEN = 403 passing yards, five touchdowns, two interceptions
RB DeMarco Murray DAL = 63 rushing yards, five catches, 39 receiving yards, three touchdowns
RB Ben Tate HOU = 102 rushing yards, three touchdowns
RB Le’Veon Bell PIT = 73 rushing yards, seven catches, 63 receiving yards, one touchdown
WR Josh Gordon CLE = Ten catches, 261 receiving yards, two touchdowns
WR Eric Decker DEN = Eight catches, 174 receiving yards, four touchdowns
WR Alshon Jeffery CHI = 12 catches, 249 receiving yards, two touchdowns
TE Rob Gronkowski NE = Six catches, 127 receiving yards, one touchdown

The dominant underdog lineup of the week…

QB Brandon Weeden CLE = 370 passing yards, three touchdowns, two interceptions
RB Andre Brown NYG = 35 rushing yards, three catches, 23 receiving yards, two touchdowns
RB Fred Jackson BUF = 42 rushing yards, four catches, 36 receiving yards, one touchdown
RB Joique Bell DET = 94 rushing yards, three catches, 34 receiving yards, one touchdown
WR Brian Hartline MIA = Nine catches, 127 receiving yards, one touchdown
WR Roddy White ATL = Ten catches, 143 receiving yards
WR Andre Holmes OAK = Seven catches, 136 receiving yards
TE Zach Ertz PHI = Five catches, 68 receiving yards, two touchdowns

The unexpectedly horrible lineup of the week…

QB Andrew Luck IND = 200 passing yards, 42 rushing yards, one interception
RB Danny Woodhead SD = 22 rushing yards, two catches, 13 receiving yards
RB Eddie Lacy GB = 16 rushing yards, two catches, 23 receiving yards
RB Zac Stacy STL = 72 rushing yards, one catch, -1 receiving yards
WR Jarrett Boykin GB = No catches
WR Jordy Nelson GB = Two catches, 14 receiving yards
WR Kenbrell Thompkins NE = One catch, 16 receiving yards
TE Delanie Walker TEN = One catch, five yards

Gut Checks

I’d be worried if I owned Trent Richardson. He’s been benched. Can I now finally take him off this list?

I’d be worried if I had given up on Roddy White this season. For the first time all year, he looked healthy.

I’d be worried if I hadn’t given up on Hakeem Nicks this year. Call it what you want, but this season is a train wreck.

I’d be worried if I’m playing any team with Josh Gordon on it.

I’d be worried if I need production from any Green Bay player without Aaron Rodgers on the field.

I’d be worried if I’m ignoring how good Joique Bell has been all season.

I’d be worried if I didn’t think Harry Douglas could keep this up the rest of the way, but I’d sell now if I’m not a contender.

I’d be worried if I didn’t think Josh McCown could help out my team in a pinch.

I’d be worried if I thought Nick Foles was a flash in the pan.

I’d be worried if I thought next year’s quarterback for the Houston Texans is currently on the roster.

I’d be worried if I’m dependent on Andrew Luck at the moment. The loss of Reggie Wayne, failures on the offensive line and lack of a consistent running game is hurting him.

I’d be worried if I was ignoring the development of Ladarius Green.

I’d be worried if I expected consistent production from Justin Hunter at the moment. One day, but just not now.

I’d be worried if I owned Darren McFadden. Do I even need to go into detail here?

I’d be worried if I expected CJ Spiller has all of a sudden turned a corner. His numbers were inflated by one big run and he was nicked up yet again.
