Waiver Wire Advice: Week Fourteen

Ken Kelly

We’ll be covering some of the hot names on the majority of dynasty league waiver wires each week for our premium content members.  These players will likely be owned in a minority of dynasty leagues. We won’t waste your time with bigger names who are likely owned in your league like Marvin Jones, or the likely one week wonders like Dallas Clark or Vonta Leach because you guys are just too good for that.  We’re simply going to cover some players who could be targets this week if you have an open roster spot and are willing to throw a dart with the hope of getting lucky.

Mainstream waiver wire articles will be posted all over the Internet this week begging people to pick up obvious players, but our job is to give you information to make informed and educated decisions and stay ahead of the curve, not on it.

Just remember one other very important thing – you’re in a dynasty league, not a re-draft league. Don’t get too enamored by the one hit wonders and drop your young projects in a quest to find lightning in a bottle. Savvy dynasty league owners will tell you the best players on the wire each and every year end up being the ones dropped by impatient owners, not the ones who suddenly break out. We won’t repeat many names here, so check out the list from prior weeks as we move along.

With that being said, here are this week’s picks in order of priority:

1.) Andre Holmes, WR OAK

Holmes is a castoff from Dallas who has finally worked his way into the mix with the Raiders. The injury to Denarius Moore has left an opening for him and he’s responded well, including a seven-catch, 136 yard performance this week against his old team. It’s quite possible he goes back into the depths of anonymity, but he’s at least shown he has some real ability. Oakland doesn’t exactly have a stacked cupboard at the position, so Holmes merits a spot in a deep dynasty league. If you want more on Holmes, just click here.

2.) Stedman Bailey, WR STL

You might be surprised to note it was Bailey and not his teammate Tavon Austin who put up better numbers at West Virginia the last two seasons. Bailey lit up the stat sheet to the tune of 86 receptions for 2,901 yards and 37 touchdowns over his final two years in Morgantown. Bailey has been working his way into the rotation and had his best game of the year this week with three catches for 46 yards. Bailey has always been a favorite of DLF and we hope this is just the beginning. He’s still buried on the depth chart, but the Rams (much like the Raiders), don’t have much settled at the position long-term.

I was asked last week to rank them in order of importance on a dynasty roster as of today. As always, this is a pretty difficult task based on different scoring systems, roster sizes and the fact your team may or may not be a contending team this year.
