Waiver Wire Advice: Week Eleven
We’ll be covering some of the hot names on the majority of dynasty league waiver wires each week for our premium content members.  These players will likely be owned in a minority of dynasty leagues. We won’t waste your time with bigger names who are likely owned in your league like Marvin Jones, or the likely one week wonders like Dallas Clark or Vonta Leach because you guys are just too good for that.  We’re simply going to cover some players who could be targets this week if you have an open roster spot and are willing to throw a dart with the hope of getting lucky.
Mainstream waiver wire articles will be posted all over the Internet this week begging people to pick up obvious players, but our job is to give you information to make informed and educated decisions and stay ahead of the curve, not on it.
Just remember one other very important thing – you’re in a dynasty league, not a re-draft league. Don’t get too enamored by the one hit wonders and drop your young projects in a quest to find lightning in a bottle. Savvy dynasty league owners will tell you the best players on the wire each and every year end up being the ones dropped by impatient owners, not the ones who suddenly break out. We won’t repeat many names here, so check out the list from prior weeks as we move along.
With that being said, here are this week’s picks in order of priority:
1.) Rishard Matthews, WR MIA
After Brandon Gibson was lost for the season, many thought Matthews would have a more prominent role. He didn’t last week when he posted just two catches for 24 yards. However, he exploded last night for 11 catches, 120 yards and two scores. Sure, he took advantage of Mike Wallace being on Revis Island, but he’s worth a look.
2.) John Carlson, TE MIN
Carlson still could very well be an afterthought the offense for the Vikings, but he had a great debut as Kyle Rudolph’s replacement as he posted seven catches for 98 yards and a touchdown last Thursday night. That will likely be his best game of the year, but you could do worse for a bye week fill-in.
3.) Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB TEN
Why does it seem like he’s the kiss of death for any starting quarterback? Again, Fitzpatrick finds himself as a starter in the league and that merits a pickup. It just seems like we’re watching, “So I Married an Axe Murdere: Quarterback Edition.” Fitzpatrick is bound to have some great games combined with some duds. It’s up to you to pick which week each happens. Good luck!
4.) Matt Flynn, QB GB
You can throw Scott Tolzien in this mix as well, but this is mess. I highly doubt we see the same Flynn who somehow posted seven touchdowns in a single game ever again. However, he’s never been comfortable outside of Green Bay, so that’s worth something.
5.) Bobby Rainey, RB TB
Brian Leonard can be lumped in here as well, but we know what we have in him. Rainey, however, has shown flashes in the past and he should have a good opportunity now that Doug Martin and Mike James are both likely out for the year.
6.) Paul Worrilow, LB ATL
We rarely focus on IDP players here, but has anyone else noticed his tackle numbers the past two weeks? Yep, 38!
