The Dynasty Aftermath: Week Two

Welcome to DLF’s Dynasty Aftermath. This Tuesday staple is our longest running signature piece as we have a little fun after a tough week at the Dynasty League Football office. You’ll find this article will review the week’s happenings in a variety of ways and help set you up for the coming weeks as we spin around the league in the way we know best. As usual, this week featured some explosive performances and a few disappointing ones as well.

Let’s take a look back at the week that was!

Week Two Fantasy MVP

We said all off-season that quarterbacks were being overvalued due to the sheer number of great signal callers out there. While this still may ring true, Aaron Rodgers made us all remember he may just be the cream of the crop with a dominant performance against Washington that featured 480 passing yards and four touchdowns.  The scary thing is Rodgers could have had 600 yards if he really wanted to. Having A-Rod in your lineup is still an advantage, even if it may not be as significant in comparison to what it once was.

Week Two Fantasy LVP

A week after looking like the second coming of, well, Aaron Rodgers in fantasy leagues, Colin Kaepernick laid an egg in the Emerald City. The Seattle defense held Kaepernick to 127 passing yards, 87 rushing yards, no touchdowns and picked him off three times. Those who have him as a QB1 should take some comfort knowing this will likely be his worst game of the season, if not his career. We should all make note that playing Seattle on the road may just be a reason to bench any player on the opposing team.

Lineup Fun

The unbeatable lineup of the week…

QB  Aaron Rodgers GB = 480 passing yards, four touchdowns, no INTs
RB Marshawn Lynch SEA = 135 total yards, three catches, three total touchdowns
RB Matt Forte CHI  = 161 total yards, 11 (!) catches
RB Jamaal Charles KC = 103 total yards, eight catches, one touchdown
WR Julio Jones ATL  = 11 catches, 182 yards, one touchdown
WR DeSean Jackson PHI = 9 catches, 193 yards, one touchdown
WR Eddie Royal SD = 7 catches, 90 yards, three touchdowns
TE Jimmy Graham NO = Ten catches, 179 yards, one touchdown

The dominant underdog lineup of the week…

QB Jake Locker TEN  = 148 passing yards, two touchdowns, no INTs
RB James Starks GB =
132 rushing yards, four catches, 36 receiving yards, one touchdown
RB Knowshon Moreno DEN = 93 rushing yards, three catches, 14 receiving yards, two touchdowns
RB Jason Snelling ATL  =
60 total yards, four catches, one touchdown
WR James Jones GB  =
11 catches, 178 receiving yards
WR DeAndre Hopkins HOU =
7 catches, 117 yards, one game winning touchdown
WR Austin Pettis STL =
8 catches, 78 yards, one touchdown
TE Charles Clay MIA =
5 catches, 109 yards, one rushing yard and one touchdown

The unexpectedly horrible lineup of the week…

QB Colin Kaepernick SF  = 127 passing yards, 87 rushing yards, three INTs
RB Eddie Lacy GB  = 10 yards rushing and one concussion
RB Montee Ball DEN = 16 rushing yards, two catches, 27 receiving yards, one costly fumble
RB Frank Gore SF = 16 rushing yards, one catch, 14 receiving yards
WR Kenny Stills NO = One catch, 10 yards
WR Anquan Boldin SF = One catch, seven yards
WR Mike Williams TB  = Two catches, nine yards
TE Jared Cook STL = One catch, ten yards

Gut Checks

I’d be worried if I thought BenJarvus Green-Ellis was going to hold on to the majority of carries in Cincinnati much longer.

I’d be worried if I had Tom Brady as my QB1. Let’s hope Rob Gronkowski returns soon because these youngsters look downright lost.

I’d be worried if I had Ben Roethlisberger as anything but a bye-week fill-in for my team.

I’d be worried if I’m counting on Roddy White soon. If you get decoy points in your league, you’re 2-0 if you started him.

I’d be worried if I’m counting on Daryl Richardson for production. Look, he’s a decent player, but he hasn’t exactly shown dynamic ability.

I’d be worried if I burned the top pick on Trent Richardson. He’s a great talent, but this is looking like a bit of a disappointing start thus far.

I’d be worried if I think Michael Vick can hold up much longer.

I’d be worried if I own Ray Rice or Arian Foster right now. It looks like the fears of them being less effective than in years past may have been justified.

I’d be worried if I didn’t listen to us last week when we said Dallas Clark wouldn’t be effective.

I’d be worried if I took Geno Smith over EJ Manuel in a rookie draft.

I’d be worried if I left Jay Cutler for dead. He’s looked much, much better already this season.

I’d be worried if I owned MJD. This isn’t looking good early on.

I’d be worried if I have any Jaguars offensive player in my lineup this week. The Jags offense is averaging 4.5 points per game and the Seattle defense has given up only ten points all season. Is it possible for Jacksonville to score less than zero this week? The line on that game is a ridiculous 19.5 and that even seems low.

I’d be worried if I owned RGIII. He’ll be great long-term, but it’s obvious he’s not anywhere close to 100%.

I’d be worried if I traded DeSean Jackson in the off-season. This is the best he’s looked in years, en route to a league leading 297 receiving yards already this season.

I’d be worried if I owned Reggie Bush. Are you really surprised he got hurt?

I’d be worried if I owned Rashard Mendenhall. Little by little, the younger backs are starting to get touches.

I’d be worried if I needed immediate production from a rookie running back. This hasn’t been a great start to the careers of Le’Veon Bell, Montee Ball, Eddie Lacy or Johnathan Franklin. At least Giovani Bernard has looked promising.

I’d be worried if I didn’t see DeAngelo Williams as at least a decent flex play. He’s quietly put up the fifth most rushing yards in the league so far.

I’d be worried if I thought Jordan Cameron was a flash in the pan.

I’d be worried if I didn’t see that inevitable dropoff in the play of Terrelle Pryor.

I’d be worried if I have Josh Freeman anywhere close to my lineup.  This is getting ugly in a hurry.
