I’d go Powell and Owens. I’m not a big fan of Quizz and I think the NYGs D will keep him in check. It’s not Hillman’s time yet. If Jennings and MJD are still out, Owens should get most of the carries, and that alone makes him worth more than the other RBs on your list.

I’d also go Big Ben over Kaepernick. Big Ben is in a pass-happy offense, and I like his matchup against Dallas better. New England’s defense is playing very well right now, and it’s really hard to put up numbers in Foxboro.

Eli no question. Cincy’s pass D is actually pretty good and I expect Foles to drop back to earth against them.

CJ, Murray, Marshall, VJax.

Rams DST. I’d say Niners ordinarily, but even though I respect their elite DST status, playing in New England is a tough draw. At least Ponder might screw things up enough to make St Louis a worthy start at DST.

I’d sit Bryce Brown and Garcon. Wallace and Garcon are close, but if RG3 isn’t able to go, I’d tilt towards Wallace. Plus, even if RG3 goes, I think Shanny might just run it even more than he usually does, which is a lot, to protect RG3.

Thanks, the Garcon/Wallace line is a close one.

Any thoughts on the Def: Detroit, Denver or Cincy?

Reply to  David Rosenthal

Detroit. Arizona is so unbelievably bad offensively that even a middle-of-the-road DST like Detroit should have a big day against them. Brian Hoyer is probably their best QB and they just picked him up on waivers.

I’d sit Brown and Garcon. Start DET without question.

I’m going with Crabtree in the same exact scenario as you. Crabtree has been much more consistent this season. It’s the semi finals, boom or bust players can no longer be considered in starting lineups at this point.

Reply to  dco002

Bryce, Alf, Forte. Mathews is garbage, even against CAR DST. Norv is in love with Ronnie Brown and Jackie Battle for some insane reason. Mathews doesn’t get goal-line carries and his Oline is atrocious.

Why sit Morris if RG3 is out? Shanny will probably run it even more than he usually does, which is a lot.

I’d take Gordon over Mathews easy. At least Gordon has a shot at 100 yards and a TD. Mathews has no 100 yard games, and 1 TD all year.

Reply to  dco002

Brown
Morris

Mathews but he’s just not performing well. Maclin and Gordon are higher risk plays. Gordon can be played if you can stand the possible 6 point game.

Kaepernick or Ryan?

Reply to  Robert Abisi

Ryan. Kaepernick is a nice young QB, but playing in Foxboro, against Belichick, is tough. Ryan at least gets a NYG DST vulnerable against the pass. For all the bashing Ryan took last week, he still put up 20+ fantasy points. Kaepernick’s offense is too conservative right now, and I’m not confident enough to start him over Ryan in the fantasy playoffs.

Semi-final week is here! Got a handful for you:

Green Bay Packers D/ST @ Chicago
Detroit Lions D/ST @ Arizona

(probably a no-brainer but the Lions are inconsistent and I can’t afford a letdown in a must-win)

Also…

Seattle Seahawks D/ST vs. Buffalo
Denver Broncos D/ST @ Baltimore

And…

RG3 @ Cleveland
Matthew Stafford @ Arizona

(leaning towards Stafford in case RG3 aggravates his injury during the game)

Finally…

Hakeem Nicks @ Atlanta
Josh Gordon vs. Washington

(0.75 PPR)

Thanks a ton!!

Reply to  Vendetta .

I also have Detroit and GB. I’m going Detroit just because Arizona has been great all year for opposing DSTs and there offense is even worse now, if that’s possible. Detroit’s DST has not exactly been lighting it up, but Arizona is just so horrible that Brian Hoyer might end up starting for them. Suh might injure all three QBs and Wiz might pull a fan from the stands to play QB.

Seattle D for sure.

Stafford at Arizona. The Arizona D just got annihilated by a far less potent offense. RG3 has an injury that might keep him out, but even if he plays, I think Shanny will probably stay conservative with more Alf to protect him.

I’d stick with Nicks, but I’m not a big fan of his.

Reply to  Vendetta .

DET – AZ is terrible
SEA
Stafford – Can’t risk the injury with RGIII
Nicks if he plays but the injury scares me. I like Gordon this week, very close.

Mike Wendland

With Bowe supposedly going to IR this week, I’m forced to replace him with either Rueben Randle (@ATL) or Armon Binns (vs JAX) or KR/PR Reynaud (vs NYJ) in my 32 team PPR league.
Both WRs are long shots, but I could actually see Binns getting more playing time over the last 3 games. Any kind of production will help. Reynaud would likely give me the customary 3-4 points off return yardage, which would still be better than nothing.

I’ll also need one Flex player from TE Moeaki, TE Logan Paulsen or RB Ryan Grant.

Vendetta .

I’d go Randle. If Nicks gets hurt mid-game, Randle might benefit. The others are just spec plays at best.

I’d go Moeaki for sure. Underrated and he goes against a truly crappy OAK DST.

Non-PPR, TD heavy (6pts), yardage 1-point per 50 (RB/WR/TE).

QB: Sat Big Ben 1st week back but looks good. Leaning that way over R. Wilson
RB: B. Powel, or R. Mathews? Benched Mathews last week (good thing) but Carolina is tempting.
WR: Trust Dez and the digit? Or go Cobb/Decker at WR? My opponent has Peyton at QB FWIW…

Thanks for your thoughts, and good luck if still alive!

Reply to  Jay Daily

I’d go Big Ben over Wilson.

I’d go with Powell. My reasoning is, Powell at least has a shot at a TD. Mathews is a big name, but in reality is playing like a waiver wire scrub. Mathews never gets goal-line carries, Ronnie Brown plays on third down, and the Chargers Oline is a train wreck. So, Mathews basically runs into a wall on first and second down. For whatever reason, Rivers can’t seem to get him involved in the passing offense. Norv seems to dislike Mathews ever since he fumbled at the goal-line earlier this year. Norv is misusing Mathews terribly, and even though it’s wrong, I don’t expect it to stop anytime soon. At least Powell has a shot at a TD.

Reply to  Jay Daily

I’d go Cobb #1 and Decker #2. I don’t trust that Dez will be productive with a splint on his finger. I don’t care what kind of hyperbole he uses this week, catching a football with a fractured finger is going to hurt. Nevermind that even grabbing a ball will be hard. Lastly, Dez hasn’t exactly been shy about taking himself out of games, either because of injury or he just gets gassed. I’m not even sure if Dez will finish the game. There is a very real chance that Dez starts but takes himself out of the game, and that would suck horribly in the fantasy playoffs.

Reply to  Jay Daily

QB: Ben
RB: Mathews – But he’s a crap shoot every week. Couldn’t sit him for POwell though
WR: I’d go with Decker to possibly minimize Manning over the risk of Dez’s injury.

Reply to  Jay Daily

I take that back … you can’t sit Cobb especially if you ger return yardage.

Jay Daily
Reply to  Jeff Haverlack

Yes, Cobb is a lock (no return yards though). Just debating Dez/Decker. Starting to think Dez might be used more as a decoy, and get 3 or 4 targets. Also the possibility Decker is Peyton’s guy this week could negate an advantage my opponent has. Healthy Dez wouldn’t be a question, just the unknown with that finger…

Where do you put Brady this week? I know it’s the United States of Tom Brady, but seriously, the niners haven’t allowed a 300 yard passer since week 1, are holding opposing QBs to 199 yards/game, 1 TD and almost 1 INT weekly. Let’s discuss where he is in the rankings. Not will he win the game or who do you want for a comeback with 2 minutes left. Fantasy production. Whom else would you play?

Reply to  david collins

Agreed, but I would never bench Brady unless I owned Brees or maybe Cam Newton this week. Go with Brady. He is playing at home, and even though the Niners D is tough, the Patriots offense is still capable of scoring points in bunches. Houston’s D hasn’t been great recently, but the Pats just totally crushed them to a point where a previously respectable Houston D just got humiliated. Granted, I don’t see the Niners giving up six TDs, but 2-3 is definitely realistic.

david collins
Reply to  Scott Peak

This is certainly the safe position. Houston’s D was impressive statistically until they gave up 500 to Henne, since then they’ve been lit up a few times. So you are saying he’s the #3 QB this week.

I don’t think you can sit DX over Bryant this week unless Bryant is 100% healthy … which he’s not. DX is too hot.

I have a few questions for you!!
E Manning vs ATL or Freeman vs NO?
I have AP and Spiller as my RBs and AJ Green a lock in at WR… But I need one more WR and one Flex. Who do I go with out of Wayne, Garcon, Shorts (if healthy), Fitz, Ridley and Leshoure?
Also do you think Gronk will be back this week or keep rolling with Rudolph?
Thank you!!

As much as I’d like to start Freeman, I have to go with Manning here.
Wayne as a great upside flex play that is safe. Shorts if you really want to try and break the bank.

I don’t think Gronk is back this week … I wish he was, I have a playoff game that I need him in.

Starting Requirements are:

1QB,2RB,2WR,1TE,1FLEX(RB/WR/TE)

Starters:
QB – AROD
RB1 -AP
RB2 – TRICH
WR1 – Wayne
WR2 – ?
TE ?
Flex?

After this I am torn between players. Who would you start at TE Graham or Witten?

Pick 3 out of Nicks, Julio, Cobb, CJ2k, Witten or Graham can start both

Lost my last playoff game by 1.2 points and cannot afford to play the wrong players

thanks guys

Witten all day long.
Julio, Cobb and CJ2k. I don’t trust Nicks this week unless I have no better options.

non PPR who should I roll with at QB?

Foles, KAP or Flacco? I do not like any of the matchups but thinking Flacco at home in the newly installed 2 minute offense?

I’d roll with Kaepernick

D/ST in all three of my leagues…

Detroit – playing AZ
Cleveland – Playing WAS

I am stuck. If RGIII plays I obviously go Detroit. If it is Cousins, I have a dilemma on my hands. Let’s assume RGIII is NOT playing – who do I start?

DET easily. I started SEA vs. ARI last week and got 38 points.

Pick a flex, no ppr. Looking for the biggest upside.

Powell @ Ten
P Thomas v TB
Blackmon @ Mia
V Davis @ NE

Powell has a good matchup and probably the best floor but I’m up against a juggernaut and need the guy most likely to go for 100+yds and a td. Thinking that’s Blackmon or Davis?

Most upside is Blackmon

Non-ppr, whats your opinion on needing to start 2 of the following: Vereen, Powell, Rudolph, and Finley. I feel like Vereen is a non option vs the 49’ers run D. Also, I’m to opposed to starting both Tight Ends, but feel its a risk.

Thanks a ton for all your insight this year ken, hopefully I’m on here next week too!

Sorry, if Jstew is a go, I would start him over vereen/powell out of loyalty (long long time owner)

Stewart will be sitting again.

Ken just posts the advice column for me. Hopefully I see you next week.

Rudolph and Powell in all likelihood but it’s a crap shoot. Finley could have a nice game but you never know when that might be.
