The Dynasty Aftermath: Week Eleven

Welcome to DLF’s Dynasty Aftermath. This Tuesday staple has long been one of our signature pieces as we have a little fun after a tough week at the Dynasty League Football office. You’ll find this article will review the week’s happenings in a variety of ways and help set you up for the coming weeks as we spin around the league in the way we know best. After eleven weeks, the contenders are starting to further set themselves apart from the pretenders in both reality and fantasy.

Let’s take our weekly spin around the league!

Week Eleven Fantasy MVP

On the year, Andre Johnson had a total of two 100 yard receiving games going into the week. He had the equivalent of two on Sunday as he posted a ridiculous 14 catches for 273 yards and one touchdown. In PPR leagues, his performance was unbelievable and came close to rivaling that of Doug Martin from a couple of weeks ago. It seems the news of his demise have been greatly exaggerated, at least for one week.

Week Eleven Fantasy LVP

Denarius Moore came into the week with seven straight double-digit games in PPR leagues. He had also scored five touchdowns in that stretch. With the Raiders playing the Saints and their leaky defense, owners felt the sky was the limit this week. Instead, Moore had one catch for nine yards and one carry for -5 yards.

Ouch.

Lineup Fun The virtually unbeatable lineup of the week…

QB Matt Schaub HOU = 527 passing yards, five total touchdowns, two interceptions
RB Marcel Reece OAK   = 103 rushing yards, four catches, 90 receiving yards
RB Trent Richardson CLE = 95 rushing yards, six catches, 49 receiving yards
RB LaRod Stephens-Howling ARI  = 127 rushing yards, one touchdown
WR Andre Johnson HOU  = 14 receptions, 273 receiving yards, one touchdown
WR Julian Edelman NE = 5 receptions, 58 receiving yards, one touchdown, 47 rushing yards
WR Justin Blackmon JAX  = 7 receptions, 236 receiving yards, one touchdown
TE Rob Gronkowski NE = 7 receptions, 137 receiving yards, two touchdowns

The dominant underdog lineup of the week…

QB Chad Henne JAX = 354 passing yards, four touchdowns, no interceptions
RB Bilal Powell NYJ  = 60 total yards, two touchdowns
RB Mark Ingram NO = 67 rushing yards, one touchdown
RB Shane Vereen NE  = 51 total yards, one touchdown
WR TY Hilton IND  = 6 catches, 100 receiving yards, two touchdowns
WR Danario Alexander SD  = 7 catches, 96 yards, two touchdowns
WR Brandon LaFell CAR  = 5 catches, 93 yards, one touchdown
TE Garrett Graham HOU  = 8 catches, 82 yards, two touchdowns

The unexpectedly horrible lineup of the week…

QB Joe Flacco BAL = 164 passing yards, no touchdowns, two interceptions
RB Daryl Richardson STL = 44 total yards
RB Chris Ivory NO = 37 rushing yards
RB Rashad Jennings JAX  = -1 rushing yards
WR Denarius Moore OAK  =1 catch, 9 receiving yards, -5 rushing yards
WR Torrey Smith BAL  =  1 catch, 7 receiving yards
WR Andre Roberts ARI  = 1 catch, 7 receiving yards
TE Antonio Gates  = 2 catches, 17 receiving yards

Gut Checks

I’d be worried if…

My hopes for a dynasty championship rest on Rob Gronkowski. That’s a huge injury.

I have Alex Smith as my QB2. Do we really have a quarterback controversy in San Francisco?

I own Arian Foster. Look, the numbers are great, but the carries are really getting up there now.

I have Evan Royster. It seems as though Alfred Morris is now taking over on third downs, which is bad news for Royster and his value in Washington.

I own Titus Young. If he isn’t careful, he’s going to lose his job. Being suspended for basically pouting about targets when you play opposite Calvin Johnson?  That’s like complaining you’re not getting enough shots when you play with Michael Jordan.

I’m penciling in Danario Alexander as my future WR2. Look, this story is getting better by the week, but there’s little to no chance his knees are going to hold up over the long haul. Enjoy it while you can, though.

I own Chris Ivory. Just when it looked like he may take over as the lead back, Mark Ingram has come on strong and Darren Sproles is due back. What a buzzkill.

I expect James Starks to get that kind of workload again. It’s obvious the Packers wanted to see what he can do, but 74 yards on 25 carries didn’t impress anyone.

I’m relying on Joe Flacco for more than a spot start. Over the past six weeks, he’s had two good games, one great one and three clunkers. No thanks.

I own Rashad Jennings. Yep, the Jalen Parmele start suprised us, too.

I’m still holding on to Peyton Hillis.

I expect Ryan Lindley to save the Cardinals.

I expect Beanie Wells to save the Cardinals.

I expect the end of the world as predicted by the Mayans to save the Cardinals – they’ve even come out and said they’re wrong on the end of the world date.  Oops.  Too bad for the Cardinals offense!

I expect this to be anything more than a redshirt year for Michael Floyd.

I’m still doubting Cecil Shorts.

I think Marcel Reece will have no role in the offense when Darren McFadden returns.

I’ve given up on Dez Bryant. Don’t look now, but he’s heating up.

I still think Ryan Mathews is going to emerge this season.

I’m still dismissing Michael Crabtree.

I’m a contender and have LeSean McCoy. He shouldn’t have even been in the game to take that hit.

I don’t see Randall Cobb as a legitimate future WR1.

I expect Brandon Lloyd to turn this around.

I think Matt Ryan is going to have another game even remotely close to that bad.

I’m playing any team that has AJ Green on it.

Good luck this week and have a great Thanksgiving!
