Week Eleven Waiver Wire Advice

Ken Kelly

urlacherWe cover some of the hot names on the majority of dynasty league waiver wires each week for our premium content members.  These players will likely be owned in a great minority of dynasty leagues.  We won’t waste your time with bigger names who are likely owned in your league like Alfred Morris, or the likely one week wonders like Dante Rosario because you guys are just too good for that.  We’re simply going to cover some players who could be targets this week if you have an open roster spot and are willing to throw a dart and hope to get lucky.

Just remember one very important thing – you’re in a dynasty league, not a re-draft league. Don’t get too enamored by the one hit wonders and drop your young projects in a quest to find lightning in a bottle. Savvy dynasty league owners will tell you the best players on the wire each and every year end up being the ones dropped by impatient owners, not the ones who suddenly break out. We won’t repeat any names here, so check out the names we’ve already mentioned at the bottom of this list.

One caveat if you haven’t been following this column this season.  This is quite honestly the single worst season I can remember on the waiver wire. When you look at the laundry list of names, it’s not exactly an all-pro cast. There have been a few worthy picks, but not many. It’s getting skinnier by the week, so remember to check out the long laundry list of prior suggestions at the bottom.

With that being said, here are this week’s picks in order of priority:

Jarius Wright, WR MIN

Wright was a major beneficiary of Percy Harvin being out with an injury, but he did show up with three catches for 65 yards and a touchdown. Wright is a young player with some upside for sure. While this will likely be his best game all season, it’s worth noting if you have a deep roster and are in need of a receiver project.

Greg McElroy, QB NYJ

I’m just saying that Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow just don’t look like the answer at quarterback. Could McElroy get a late season audition?

Jason Campbell, QB CHI; Colin Kaepernick, QB SF; Byron Leftwich, QB PIT

Let’s call this one the “concussion trio.” Of the three, only Kaepernick has intriguing dynasty league value, but if you’re really stuck at quarterback because of injuries and contending in your league, one of the other two are at least worth a shot. This suggestion is also assuming Nick Foles is not available in your league.

Justin Forsett, RB HOU

Ben Tate has been out long enough to be concerned if you’re an Arian Foster owner and looking to have his handcuff. With the number of touches Foster is getting, he needs to get a break now and then. If he were to miss time, Forsett would be a popular add if Tate continues on his slow recovery road.
