The short (but still strange) trip to Oakland for JaMarcus Russell is finally over. When the man who fired a coach over your playing time and vouched for you as a “great playa,” has finally given up on you, it’s time to move you into bust category. There are a few players who are affected by this long overdue move.
JaMarcus Russell QB FA
There are some rumblings out there that the Colts and/or Saints may be willing to take a chance on a JaMarcus reclamation project. Â In the end, it doesn’t really matter. Â If you’ve been holding on to Russell with the hope he finally turns it around, it’s over. Â Let him go. Â Now. Â Please.
Jason Campbell QB OAK
This really solidifies Campbell as the unquestioned starter in everyone’s minds. There were some holding out hope that Russell had made some strides this week with his work and apparent “better physique,” but even Crazy Al couldn’t push him back into the picture. Â With no chance of some strange order coming from above to play Russell again, Campbell is a safe bet for a low Qb2 / high QB3 with some dynasty upside.
Bruce Gradkowski QB OAK
This move should solidify him as the backup QB in Oakland. Â Kyle Boller is, well, Kyle Boller.
