The Raiders finally agreed with everyone else in the free world – JaMarcus Russell is one of the biggest busts in NFL Draft history. They’ll ask him to take a pay cut, of which he’ll refuse, then be cut next week. For Campbell, this is the fresh start he sorely needed. Here are the players whose value is involved:
Jason Campbell QB OAK
I’ve always thought Campbell deserved better. He’s been in numerous offenses with very little to work with offensively. While that won’t change too much, he’ll at least get another chance. I like him as a low-end QB2 or high end QB3. I’d actually attempt to get him if I could on the cheap.
Bruce Gradkowski QB OAK
So much for sleeper status.
JaMarcus Russell QB OAK
I’m sure he’ll celebrate with some food. He’ll find work somewhere, but I’m sure he’ll fail there again, based on everything but his own effort or talent. Everything that’s happened to him isn’t his fault, after all.
Oakland Skill Players
Every skill player on Oakland (Bush, McFadden, Murphy, Schillens, Miller, DHB) benefits from this move. If anything, defenses will have to be honest to a certain extent.
