Justin Herbert will miss the remainder of the 2023 season following surgery to repair a broken index finger.
The news confirms what was expected and Herbert joins a long list of names now on the shelf for the remainder of the season. Herbert is currently found near the QB10 in fantasy, a disappointment to expectations. The loss of Mike Williams for the season and Josh Palmer for nearly a third of the season proved too much to overcome in the passing game as rookie Quentin Johnston continues to struggle. With only pride remaining to play for in 2023, shutting down Herbert to prepare for 2024 is a wise choice. Five-year veteran backup Easton Stick will take over under center. Herbert is listed as DLF's QB5.

Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert fractured the index finger in his throwing hand in an ugly loss against the Broncos.
And just like that, the Chargers season actually got worse. At 5-8, it's hard to see Los Angeles rushing Herbert back on the field and it's possible he's taken his last snap of the season. It's nearly certain his streak of 62 straight starts is going to end. While Herbert will still be a QB1 this off-season, there are questions about the future of this team and his value moving forward.
