The Packers are signing running back Josh Jacobs.
This move was a stunner as the Packers were seemingly set at the position with Aaron Jones, who was subsequently released. Jacobs had a horribly disappointing season with Las Vegas this past year, rushing for about half the league-leading total of 1,653 he posted in 2022. Still, he's only 26 years old and should be primed for a bounce-back as the centerpiece of the offense. Jacobs' ranking of RB11 should be intact for the moment.

The Raiders are reportedly unlikely to use the franchise tag on running back Josh Jacobs.
The Raiders didn't sign the 2022 rushing leader to a long-term deal at this time last season and likely don't see that as a decision to regret. Jacobs struggled last year for a variety of reasons and saw his rushing total get cut in half. While there are a lot of fingers to point in terms of the reasons why, the numbers are still the numbers. Las Vegas reportedly wants him back but are unwilling to break the bank to do so. Jacobs will enter the free agent market that's loaded with ball carriers, so it's going to be interesting to see just what he can secure. In terms of dynasty value, things are clearly in flux for him at the moment.

The Raiders have reportedly not engaged in contract talks with impending free agent running back Josh Jacobs.
It seems almost a given the Raiders are going to let Jacobs test the open market. They could franchise tag him but that seems unlikely given the fact he had a massive regression last season. In fact, Jacobs was only able to post around half of his rushing yardage from his league-leading season in 2022 when he rushed for over 1,600 yards. New Head Coach Antonio Pierce seems committed to re-establishing Jacobs and he was clearly better once he took over. Still, Jacobs may get a better contract elsewhere, making Zamir White a potentially hot commodity. Stay tuned.

Josh Jacobs is not expected to play in week 17.
Carrying a doubtful tag for the week, this news items is far more about his future in Las Vegas, or lack of it. Ahead of what will be a wave of quality free agent running backs available in 2024, it will be a surprise if Jacobs plays another snap for the Raiders. Already disgruntled with having to play 2023 under the franchise tag, Jacobs simply has no reason to suit up again for the team who is on the brink of being eliminated from the playoffs. That said, should the team sneak into the playoffs, he could appear for the team one last time. It's nearly impossible to forecast how the running back market will play out next year, but Jacobs figures to be one of the higher priced signings when the dust settles. Turning 26 early in 2024, Jacobs is found as DLF's RB9.
