Dynasty Stock Up - OTAs

QB

1. Donovan McNabb, PHI – I really don’t see Kolb getting his shot in Philly after this draft…the weapons just keep coming.

2. Tom Brady, NE – Probably the 3rd QB off the board in most drafts, but could very easily finish #1.

3. Matt Ryan, ATL – Matty Ice has the addition of Tony Gonzalez who, while not running as well as he used to, is a huge mid-range weapon. While the WRs may see a few less looks, Ryan’s value is climbing.

4. David Garrard, JAC – It’s going to be interesting to see how Garrard does with the best WR he’s ever had on his squad. He could be a serious sleeper pick with Holt, Mike Walker and Dennis Northcutt running with him.

5. Matthew Stafford, DET – He has looked absolutely fantastic at OTA’s already with extraordinary arm strength and quick release. The first third of the season is BRUTAL for the Lions, so hope they sit him until after their week 7 bye.

RB

1. Steve Slaton, HOU – Formerly #4 on this list, Slaton rockets up to #1 as the Texans didn’t add a complementary back to use with him. To be clear, they will rotate him out to limit his carries, but it would be a different story had the team drafted Shonn Greene or Rashad Jennings.

2. Pierre Thomas, NO – See #1. The Saints have not yet added a bigger back to significantly take his carries…word is Pierre has put on ten pounds of muscle himself this offseason.

3. Maurice Jones-Drew, JAC – Good news for both Jones-Drew and Garrard when Jacksonville exponentially improved their offensive line through the draft. While I see Rashad Jennings emerging, he won’t take meaningful carries from MJD.

4. Matt Forte, CHI – Assuming the tweaked hamstring progresses the way it is expected to, Forte has to be a happy man. Sure the addition of Cutler means less carries for him, but if you’re in a PPR league you have to be grinning from ear to ear with the #1 receiving threat from 2008.

5. LenDale White, SD – A dark horse on this list, white has cut down to 236 pounds this offseason to cement himself in this backfield. Sure he’ll probably be out of Tennessee when his contract expires in the offseason, but that’s even more motivation….

WR/TE

1. Calvin Johnson, DET – Really, can his stock go much higher? Having a talented QB throwing him the ball and Pettigrew helping with middle traffic means the sky is the limit.

2. Mike Walker, JAC – Moved up from #3 on this list. If Walker can stay healthy (big “IF”), he has the opportunity to showcase his talent with Torry Holt and Dennis Northcutt running routes with him. Huge sleeper candidate.

3. Devin Hester, CHI – While I don’t see Hester going over the middle on 3rd downs anytime soon, Hester is the only guy with experience on the roster and will be the #1. Do not overpay for Hester, but he can be an absolute steal as your #3 or 4 wideout.

4. Chad Ochocinco, CIN – Simply put, the Bengals need Chad on their squad and, even though they received trade offers, could not part with him. It is a good sign that no WRs were added in the draft and will see his share of balls with one of the most talented QBs in history throwing him the rock.

5. Miles Austin, DAL – Young player with huge upside potential if he can win the starting job alongside Roy Williams. It might be a long shot, but he could put up 70/5/1,000 if the cards fall right…especially if they put Crayton in the slot.

6. Greg Olsen, CHI – See Devin Hester. Olsen’s value could be through the roof if the WRs don’t step up in the Windy City.

Dynasty Stock Down

QB

1. Chad Pennington, MIA – After a very nice fantasy showing in 2008, Pennington is going to be in trouble beginning this season. With Chad Henne essentially getting the nod for 2010 and Pat White added to the roster. Trouble.

2. Joe Flacco, BAL – TE L.J. Smith does not qualify as “upgrading offensive firepower”. Surprisingly, the Ravens went another year without giving him any weapons; that’s a dangerous game. I really see Flacco’s improvement will be stunted for at least another season.

RB

1. Joseph Addai, IND – Mounting durability issues and lack of physical running thus far were good reason for the Colts to add Donald Brown. Addai is the unquestionable starter but he needs to be pushed and his carries/catches will suffer for it. Consider him only as a #3 dynasty back.

2. Tim Hightower, ARI – Truth be told, Hightower had a nice 2008, but I think he’s out of luck now. Chris Wells skills are special and, while the Cards need Hightower as insurance for injury, Wells is for all intents and purposes the guy who will carry the load.

WR/TE

1. Greg Camarillo, MIA – Patrick Turner is going to push Camarillo as a slot-type catcher; his job as a starter is definitely in jeopardy. Parcells loves Turner and is expected to give the job to him.

2. Sidney Rice, MIN – I like the guy…I really do. Problem is, he’s not an “it” guy and does not have special skills. The way things are set in Minnesota, Rice is at best a #3 WR for your dynasty squad; 6 TDs is his ceiling.

3. Davone Bess, MIA – See Greg Camarillo. His days of running the slot are over.
