The 2015 AIR Affair (The Tables)

In the winter of 2014, I sought a better way of quantifying pass catcher production, and thus the AIR metric was born. The concept was simple – a receiver can put up an immense range of fantasy statistics, but if context isn’t taken into account we really can’t get a firm grasp on how efficient he truly is. In other words, a better means of adjustment was necessitated.

Since that point I’ve utilized the AIR metric numerous times in an effort to elucidate pass catcher production, and had great designs to put forth my grandest product yet this summer. Unfortunately, that pesky little thing known as the “real world” has a funny way of gumming up the works, and despite my best efforts I just wasn’t able to get it done. And with the season just around the corner, it appeared the stars just weren’t going to align.

Nevertheless, I decided to give it one last push and publish the data I have, and thus The 2015 AIR Affair (The Tables) is born. It is as it sounds – the data has been completed in its entirety, but I simply wasn’t able to get around to the player profiles. As Joseph Randle would say, there’s some meat left on the bone – however, as Sherlock Holmes would counter, “data, data, data; I cannot make bricks without clay.” My hope here is that there’s enough clay from which some sound conclusions can be built.

As to the clay I’ve provided, inside you’ll find the following:

Total passing output for all 32 teams

-AIR values for the top-50 PPR wide receivers

-A look at touchdown dependence as it relates to AIR

-A look at volume dependence as it relates to AIR

-An incredibly in-depth look at weekly AIR values for each receiver

-Qualifiers and quantifiers for each receiver’s weekly production

-A summary of how well each receiver performed all season long, on a weekly basis

Again, while I wish I would’ve been able to do more and publish this sooner, it just wasn’t meant to be. Regardless, I believe there’s some incredibly useful information contained within, and it can likely still help you capitalize and make some moves in the season’s infancy. I hope you enjoy it!
