DLF’s Reality Sports Online League: Kyle Pollock’s Review

Having never done a dynasty auction on Reality Sports Online before, I was a little nervous going into this draft. I knew since it was a sixteen team league I would want to lock up at least two players whom I consider studs. Luckily, I was able to grab three players in our recent RSO draft who are top options at their positions and signed them to long term contracts.

[inlinead]With a foundation of Russell Wilson, Le’Veon Bell and DeAndre Hopkins for a minimum of the next three years, I like my chances for the coming years, but my roster is spread pretty thin other than these players. I have five rookie wide receivers in Breshad Perriman, Dorial Green Beckham, Tyler Lockett, DeAndre Smelter and Darren Waller. Again, all of these players are locked up for at least three seasons which should allow for me to have solid production at the wide receiver position in coming seasons. Stevie Johnson, Andrew Hawkins and Terrance Williams are also serviceable players who could help this year. Andre Williams will be my second running back going into the season, but I will certainly be looking for an upgrade at that position as I lack depth behind Williams. To round out my lineup, I have Owen Daniels and Mychal Rivera as my tight ends. I feel a committee of these two should give me top 10-12 weekly output at the position.

My auction experience really showed at times. Sometimes, I was so driven to get a player that it allowed for other owners to easily price enforce me. The worst case of this occurred with Perriman, whom I ended up paying $14 million per year for. Another unfortunate occurance happened when I was unable to attend our longest auction session, which essentially served as the middle rounds of our draft. Going into the net session, I had far and away the most cap space in the league and immediately felt the need to sign players to try and make up for my missed time – that’s why players such as Terrance Williams, Stevie Johnson and Stevan Ridley are all making $9 million dollars or more. Next time I do an auction, I’ll certainly be more prepared and won’t over compensate like I did in this league. For my first auction, I’m content with my team but not exactly thrilled. I’ll look to improve the roster throughout the year and hope to contend in the coming years.

I really enjoyed the RSO format. The short time for each player on the auction block really forced you to make quick decisions and think on your feet. The software was super easy to use and the staff there are great. I the chance got to personally meet RSO’s Matt Papson and he was an awesome guy who truly believes in the platform. With the work of Matt and others I really find it hard to believe that RSO won’t continue to improve and eventually be one of the biggest fantasy sites on the web. I’ve attached my roster below for those who are interested
