$299 stuck out like a sore thumb to me. Maybe I need more information and will have to read about the following updates, but fantasy football is about having fun. Anybody who needs $300 worth of advice for something that is impossible to predict is playing for the wrong reasons.

    • Ken Kelly says:

No, no, no. I think you’re reading that wrong. We’re providing them dynasty content for their site and promoting the DFWC (Dynasty Football World Championship) for our community – the information we’re providing for them (and you) is certainly not costing the $299! Those are two very different things there.

The DFWC entry fee is $299 per team. Year One is roughly an 85% payback with $2,400 in individual League prizes and $7,500 in Championship round prizes for those who participate.

      • Chris R. says:

Ahh ok that makes more sense, thanks for the clarifications! I figured I may have read that wrong, the additional info helps a ton. Interesting on the payout though, can only imagine the competitiveness.

        • Ken Kelly says:

Well, it is billed as the World Championship, but I’m 100% certain the best dynasty fantasy football players are right here on the site and in our Forum. No doubt in my mind there!

  2. mike says:

Sounds awesome! Can I join here or do I have to go through the fftoolbox site?

    • Ken Kelly says:

Just click the link to go out to the toolbox forum – you can essentially put yourself on a pre-order list there.

  3. BB Wayne says:

Trading has to be approved by the commissioner. No thanks! What a bunch of crap.

    • Ken Kelly says:

I don’t think you’d agree if you joined a big money league, then saw a team trade Ryan Williams and Donnie Avery for Trent Richardson, Adrian Peterson and Calvin Johnson, realizing two teams had been involved in collusion in order to win prize money.

That’s in there as a function of security, not control. Trades that would be disallowed would only be ones obviously not in the best interest of the league.

I actually wouldn’t join a contest like this WITHOUT this function.

      • Cyrus says:

Agreed completely, and I prefer having this discretion by the Commissioner of all my leagues.

      • Scott Peak says:

I agree as well. League voting on trades is one of the worst ideas ever for fantasy football leagues, and the commissioner is the best candidate to decide whether a trade is fair or not. Any league that has to worry about the intentions of its commissioner is one I would leave ASAP.

        • BB Wayne says:

To be clear, my issue is when trades are held up because we are waiting for approval. Now if trades are immediately processed and then reviewed based on dumping or collusion concerns, then I have misunderstood.

Sorry to cause a stink but this is the number one issue I look at before joining a league.

  4. Scott says:

Hi Wayne, I’m Scott from FFToolbox. Our plan is to release our preliminary set of rules, get as much feedback from the interested players as possible and then to finalize the rules prior to league assignments.

I appreciate the trade sentiment as I’m in 10+ dynasty leagues. Allow me to copy the trade section from the preliminary rule set:

    Trading:
Trade season opens Feb 15 each season provided the owner is paid up for the season.
Trade season ends at the kickoff of Week 13 games.

Trading is encouraged in dynasty and all trades will be reviewed by the Commissioner. The general philosophy here at FFWC Dynasty, is that we do not plan to get involved in trades. Each person views players and pick value differently, however all teams are expected to act with the best interest of not only your team, but the league in mind. Example: dumping all your players to the best team in the league to acquire picks may help you long term team but hurt the league as a whole. Trades that appear to be roster dumping or grossly un-even will be reviewed and reversed. The FFWC reserves the right to investigate any and all trades for the betterment of the league and to revoke the trade if the executive team feels it is necessary. Owners who are repeat offenders may be disqualified without return of fees or deposits. All FFWC decisions are final.

  5. BB Wayne says:

    Agree to diagree.

Judging ones value of players is a slippery slope especially in Dynasty. Here’s the “factions” of approvers according to the link: “All trades will be evaluated and approved by our Commissioner, Emil Kadlec and a small team of non-participating dynasty experts from both websites.”

Sorry but any league I’m in ALLOWS for trade contesting by the owners if it is deemed out of line or collusion by vote after trade is processed. It should not be by the Commish or band of independent “experts”. Sorry, but I’m just passionate on this subject.

However, congrats on the FFToolbox partnership. Confirmation you guys are the best around for Dynasty content.

    • Scott says:

Wayne, I don’t see any issue in presenting the specific “league” layer as a first step before proceeding to the commissioner level, in fact now that you mention it, I personally think that’s a good angle to take.

Again, these rules are preliminary and for discussions like these.

Thanks for taking the time to offer feedback.

    • Scott Peak says:

I think this is an example of how dynasty owners should absolutely look into league rules and find a league that fits their comfort zone. I prefer trades be handled similar to how Scott mentions above, but I acknowledge that other fantasy owners may feel differently. I favor Scott’s perspective on handling trades, but if Wayne feels differently, that’s okay. It highlights the importance of understanding league bylaws and finding the league that best fits your interests.

    • Timothy Holloway says:

Completely disagree here. I don’t think other owners within that league have any business in determining whether a trade of mine is fair or not. Too often, you see other owners voting for a reversal just because it improves one of their main competitors. I’d MUCH rather have a knowledgeable, yet impartial group oversee all trades for the purpose of ensuring league integrity and weeding out any situations involving collusion.

    No IDP?

    • Ken Kelly says:

The way we understand it, it won’t be this year. It’s possible in the future, but I don’t see it in the short term.

  7. Nick Wood says:

That’s quite the entry fee for a dynasty league!

I’d assume that owners have to pay X number of years in advance? Are there rules that would stop an owner from going balls to the wall to win this year and dropping from the league next year?

  8. Scott Peak says:

I have to say, I’m excited at the prospect of DLF pairing up with FFToolbox. I think this collaboration should be helpful for DLF, FFToolbox and users of both sites. Great news! :)

  9. Ron P says:

I live in Vegas.. Id like into this league… Is there live draft though? It mentions vegas and dates but Im not excited to do online as its so key to know league mates.

  10. BigD says:

i say this to my buddy cheezwhiz…..you see what it says in the upper righthand corner of the heading of this sight? “there is no offseason”…..no fantasy baseball for damn sure. i’ve shown you the ultimate site. i love this place. thanks for all your hard work here guys. looking forward to a great season.

  11. Jersey Rob says:

I agree that trade vetoes are kinda bogus, but in this circumstance, it actually protects the integrity of the league. Inevitably, no matter how upstanding you think the community is, there will be a few looking to tip the scales by stacking teams to make easy money.

So, I view it as a safety measure as stated above. Most trades WOULD go through. It’s the blatant ones that would need to be investigated.

    • Exactly correct. I would expect VERY few commissioner denied trades. It’s simply a measure of control to ensure that collusion isn’t occurring.

      • Scott says:

Exactly. Trading will be open Mon-Fri. There will likely be a 48 hour window for protests, before the traded players can be placed in your lineup. League mates can’t simply protest, they have to write why they think the trade should be reversed and there has to be multiple protests. Then and only then will the watchdog group take a look into the trade. This is the direction we’re leaning after discussing it this weekend at length.

In all my years playing competitively, I’ve honestly never seen a trade vetoed, but we have to have that protection in for the players for collusion purposes.

How do I join this league!? I’m I’m baby

  13. Follow the “click here” link in the post above. Glad to hear you’re in. Represent DLF well!

  14. Rod Shaffer says:

First time on this site [been using FFToolbox for years]. Already signed up for the dynasty league.
I think it imperative that the commissioner, not the players, have veto power. Both have a financial stake, but the commish has no emotional stake and can look at trades from a level field.
I do have trade questions though. During the draft we can trade picks as well as players, right? So, are draft day trades subject to review? And if so, how do we get this done in a 24 hour pick time limit? Example;(I offer my 1.4 pick to team B for his 1.12 and 2.1). The offer is accepted with less than 1 hour left on the clock. Does the commish and 3rd party experts immediately make a decision because the other teams will be unaware until after the fact?
I hope someone can give me some insight on these matters. I’ve never been in a money league that allows trades.
