Again, love the site… but if he’s not a flash in the pan, why is Shorts ranked 152 WR by two of your experts, one who just updated his rankings in January, and he still thinks he’s #152 WR! Meanwhile, Shorts is in two other experts top-25 in the same rankings. Hope the two experts that haven’t updated their rankings since early November and some others who only update the top of their rankings are not on any sort of payroll.

I agree, you guys should really update your rankings. Not sure why JB had shorts listed at 152 and he did his rankings on 1/7.

      • G. Faith says:

Take out those two “out dated” ranking and Short’s average ranking jumps up to WR36. That seems like a good slot for him based on the QB and Blackmon coming on during the end of the season.

I updated my WR rankings today after reading your comments. I have him at WR40 right now, up 5 spots from WR45. There are too many question marks for me to consider him any more than a very low end WR3 or flex.

      More to come on this…

EO I’m still a bit confused by some of your rankings. Dez is still 13th? Fitzgerald 5th? Nicks 10th? Dez finished as the #3 WR in my league, not sure why so many people would finish in front of him.

        • Steve Wyremski says:

Can’t speak for Eric, but I know a lot of people do discount Dez because his head’s not screwed on straight which many believe carries some risk.

Re: Fitz – I have him very high as well (3). Feel the current reaction to his sub-par year is an overreaction. The situation was worse than horrible. Nothing like that is going to happen again here with Arians running things. He’s currently very undervalued, but should perform at a much higher level than ’12 and at a high level for 4-5 years.

Re: Nicks – I have him 10th, as well. He continues to have injury issues. Somewhat concerning long-term. I’ve been a huge fan of Nicks since his days at UNC, but for dynasty I’m getting concerned.

          • Eric Olinger says:

Thanks Steve, you actually hit it on the head. The thing about my rankings is I view them as if we are doing a dynasty start up draft.

Re: Dez- I’ve always been skeptical of the knucklehead factor. He finally put it all together this year but his disappearing in second halfs always kept me from fully buying in.

Re: Fitz- Fitzgerald was bullet proof up to this season and I still believe in the talent. Combine that with Arians, the emergence of Floyd, and Bruce Arians coming to town and I’m fully buying into Fitzgerald.

Re: Nicks- Pure health concern. “IF” he plays a healthy 16 games he challenges to finish the season in the top 3. You just can’t trust the guy to play week in and week out.

That is where my ranking views come from. Hope that helps.

Thanks for pointing this out. The rankings are all done on a volunteer basis. I think what likely happened is a testament to just how far Shorts has come. A few of the rankers likely just adjusted the top 100-125 or so of the WRs and just lost track of him. We’ll make sure to get that adjusted.

      Thanks!

I appreciate the rankings section. When will your 2013 rookie rankings be posted? I remember last year Lamar Miller had a huge fall, while Doug Martin went the other way.
