Great article Ryan! Has there been any news on the Braylon front? I heard he was working out for Seattle but have not heard anything else. Not that I am expecting much but since we haven’t had our draft yet I will not cut him until I have to.

    • Ryan McDowell says:

He did work out for Sea and they opted to sign Antonio Bryant instead. Unless Braylon is asking for a crazy amount of money, I assume this is health related. If so, he could be done.

How long would you advice people to hold on to players like Britt ?

we all saw players like him being a big tease , only to take a roster spot away , freeze your Money ( if you play in a salary cap league etc.) and give you the short side of managing your team through a long season with all aspects of the game , like waiver work . bye week fil ins pickup sleepers etc.

does Britt has great talent? yes……could you afford to hold into him so one day ( or rather never) helps you win ….or watch other Guys in your league win while you got stucked by such teaser.

i guess you won your league in the past with players like Stew. etc.

my advice , see if you get to trade Britt now , you will have less headachs and better chance to win now and maybe in future too. this dude will bust big time….nice 3 games run ,,,,, this is not enough to hold to this dude…..IMO

    • Aric says:

You’re looking at selling him for dirt or holding on, seeing if he pulls through, or waiting for him to bust out again before trading him. If you sell him now you will have no chance of getting back the value you paid to acquire him. If you wait, you can exceed it by a mile.

The point they make is that his value is at the lowest point it has ever been. Why sell now? It’ll probably come up eventually, and if you want, sell then. Panicking and tossing away a valuable asset is typically a bad move.

Worst thing that could happen? You cut him and don’t get all the nothing that was coming back either way. Not exactly a nightmare scenario.

      • Scott says:

I traded Peyton Manning/Victor Cruz for Michael Vick/Kenny Britt on one dynasty team this off-season. As much as Britt irritates me, I am not likely to trade him, because I won’t settle for a steep discount. I would rather hang onto him, and take the risk that he will reach elite status. I will, however, be looking to trade him if he can show his talents on the field, as I’m sure he will do something boneheaded to get a year long suspension.

    • Ken Kelly says:

I’d suggest reading my Benchwarmers post earlier this week about Britt. I’d respectfully disagree with trading him at this very point in time.

      • Ryan McDowell says:

I agree with Ken. You have to hold onto Britt right now. He will put up huge games this season and someone will buy. Wait until then if you are set on selling him.

I liked and believed in the article a few weeks back hyping up Gettis… but now im not so sure.

They brought in Murphy – sure, hes mostly depth but still Murphy is better than your average 4th WR and did start a few games. He promplty got hurt tho, like you said.

Gettis then gets injured – yes, i know this isnt his bad knee and i guess its a new injury to his hamstring, but this is still pretty concerning. Dude cant stay healthy.

All im saying is that its a even bigger longshot that Gettis will provide anything close to consistant weekly value, or unseat LaFell. I’m not a believer in him, but I guess you almost have to like LaFell more by default.

    • Ryan McDowell says:

I have never been a believer in Gettis. He won’t be on any of my rosters, especially with the move to add depth at WR.

  4. German C. says:

agree , i see your points. but it all depends on how is the makeup of your team, what depth you got, which holes on your team you need to fil , are you having salary cap problems ( could afford to shoulder Britt’s salary for a longer period of time) , your league rules…..and if you have been around in fantasy to name me examples of players who would match Britt’s injury history alongside with his well documented off field troubles, and still came back strong.

i rather admitt to have made a mistake , take the hit and move on.

this guy is written teaser and bust all over him.

but i agree if you could afford all these kind of factors hold on to him til things clear up….then sell high…………. this position of the WR’s is so deep and every season some breakout from nowhere.

make your own judgment on this.

a troubled End is better than troubles with no End……..cut him loose IMO

  5. phil says:

brit does get hurt all the time….the guy in my league that has him, dez, and marshawn lynch always wants more than fair value for anyone…its tough to make trades in our league b/c of that fact…but i wouldnt even buy low on this guy b/c of his injured past..id rather put stock into a fairly more reliable option..

    • Mike says:

I had owned Britt in only one of my many Dynasties and traded him and DeSean for Austin/Colston before he had his latest brush with stupidity. A world of talent, but the reliability factor is just too risky to take a chance on, especially on a team with the ability to compete this season…

      YOu’re not lying

  6. tebow says:

i own Brown and Helu how important is it for me to pick up Ballard and Royster? i only have a top 3 pick and im picking Wilson and i don’t have any more picks till the 6th{last} round. Do you think that it would be worth a roster spot to another team to pick these guys up? what should i offer to trade those teams if they are drafted before me?

    • Ryan McDowell says:

I would try to get both if you have the roster space. While both are being talked about by us diehards, they have not hit the mainstream yet. I think Royster is worth a 2nd and Ballard worth a 3rd. It depends on who else is available in the draft though.

Are you set on Wilson at 3?

  7. tebow says:

yes im set at Wilson at 3 the guy with the 4th pick has bradshaw and wants him bad so i will pick him and see what i can get or just hold on to him and let him grow since i don’t think Bradshaw is a great long term bet. I don’t need a qb{i have Brady} and i don’t need Blackmon he would be the 5th guy on my bench. I just don’t know how much i should give for these handcuffs and yes i have room for both

    • Sensei John Kreese says:

Don’t overthink it. Take Luck at 3. Brady turns 36 next week.

      No brainer, man.

    • Rp says:

That spiteful drafting move is fun later rounds but youre only spiting yourself.

Trade down now to 4 or lower. I say get your Luck.

      • Mike says:

I agree here – while I am a fan of Wilson’s long-term potential, that early I wouldn’t make a pick just to tick off the owner who is foaming at the mouth for a guy. I would either take Luck here, or even think about offering him a one-spot trade-up to allow him to “guarantee” he gets Wilson (mentioning that you are seriously considering him here) – maybe he’ll throw you a later round pick for that right. Hey, it might not work, but it wouldn’t hurt trying…
